Despite not being really old (it was completely rebuilt after the IIWW out of ruins) this part of town is particularly charming. Walk down Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie przedmiscie, poping into delicious A. Blikle bakery or a Milk Bar (Polish greasy spoon) to try typical Polish dinner, visit the castle, have a ride in a horse carriage. My personal favourite though is Belle Epoque Cafe at 18 Freta Str. Partly cafe, partly antique shop, with great atmosphere and music played from gramophone...

You can buy a ticket before on their website, or there is an electronic vending machine (accepts credit cards) in the lobby. I believe that there is also a physical ticket sales booth inside. A regular ticket is 30 Polish ZT. They advise that on the day you'd like to visit the viewing platform that it's best to check if it is open beforehand on their official website: www.pkin.pl Tickets purchased on-line are valid for 12 months after purchase, until used. To make inquiries, the phone number is 22 656 73 82. The hours of the Viewing Terrace ticket office are daily (Monday to Sunday) from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The elevator is fast and takes you to the 30th floor where there is a sightseeing terrace which surrounds the top. It takes the elevator only 19 seconds to reach the top. The 30th floor includes a mid century style Gothic Hall, a photo gallery and a coffee bar.

The local Poles also called it "Stalin's P***S"...I don't see it, do you? :) Despite the dark history, seeing this building certainly makes an impression on you, especially architectural nerds like myself. The interior reflects the era. I didn't have a chance, but building has a couple of large theaters to see shows and concerts. 25PLN/$6 will let you ride up to the "tip", I mean top of the building at 30 floors up. You'll get some sweeping panoramic views for some pretty good photos and Instagram posts...though the Warsaw skyline is rather flat and dull compared to other views. Still worth the cheap $6, and it won't take much time out of your day. I think I paid $45 to go up Seattle's Space Needle a few months ago.

You can access the square either by tram, by walking or by a number of both express and innercity buses. Constitution Square is well worth a visit - the architecture is almost exclusively communistic from the 1950's (I'm not an architect nor do I know anything about building styles but the architecture of the buildings around the square is very characteristic for the Polish post-IIWW years when the People's Republic was taking form) and while some might consider the buildings ugly, I find them interesting. There are several very popular restaurants and bars around Constitution Square - Szwejk (a large "Czech-style" restaurant with cheep food and cheep alcohol, beer mostly), Aioli Inspired By Mini (they serve a double burger for the same price as their regular Aioli Burger - 26 pln - on Mondays for instance), Pulp Fiction Shot Bar (a shot of Soplica vodka costs 5 pln and the whole place is highly inspired by the legendary Tarantino classic from which the shotbar takes its name) and they're about to open Warsaw's second pancake restaurant "Manekin" here as well. Additionally, the Polonia Theater is also located here, right by the tramstop. Here's an interesting fact - most people tend to think the name, Constitution Square, is in honor of Poland's first constitution, adopted at the end of the 18th century, but they're all mistaken. The name comes from the Stalinist constitution adopted in 1952.
