Another manager stepped in though, and was informed of the event and executed it without incident. We love Starlite! We made reservations on OpenTable which made it easy for us to check in. I encourage having a reservation because on weekends they get pretty busy, and the wait can be long. They were welcoming, and got us seated quickly. Inside it's dimly lit, they're usually playing jazz or chill house music, and the seating feels cozy. We like going here for a classy cocktail night, or even an intimate date night to just sip and chat. Their food is good! An absolute must! We stayed at the Beacon Grand for a mom & dad weekend away. We were told when we checked in that we should check Starlite out and I'm so glad we did. The views are amazing! The decor is very well done. Perfectly elegant & elegant while still keeping the old charm of the hotel and the history of the bar. The staff were all really friendly. They made sure to inform you that tip is already included whe they brought the check. The drinks were fantastic. We went two nights. We got an espresso martini & old fashion the first night and both were so well executed. I'm not a fan of a creamy espresso martini, and these were perfect. Perfectly espresso forward! We also ordered simple Tito's & soda with lime and they were well balanced as well. The music was great! One DJ played music we much preferred over the other, but it was all enjoyable. My friend sent me a picture of the view from a recent evening at the Starlite Lounge, which made me really excited to check it out, as I love trying new to me cocktail spots around the city as well as places with killer city views. Fortunately, my friend made a reservation which I would highly recommend if you plan to go to Starlite, as it is a busy place and the tables with the window seats fill up quickly. We were quickly seating after arriving, and I was immediately blown away by the interior. The decor feels classic and refined, without feeling stuffy or like it is trying to give off an overly retro feel. It just feels classy and fits in with the overall bougie vibe of the hotel. The cocktail menu is super interesting as well. To start, I got A Man You Don't Meet Every Day, which has brown Irish butter washed whisky, banana liquor, oloroso sherry, amaro, il mallo nocino, salt, and Guinness foam. This drink was incredible and had the most interesting mix of flavors with the banana complementing the brown Irish butter washed whisky nicely, rounded out by the taste of the Guinness foam. My friend got the Baghdad by the Bay, which has tequila, rosolio, Bordiga red bitter, rhum clement coconut liquor, lemon, grapefruit and coconut. This drink had an interesting kick from the tequila, that nicely with the coconut liquor and citrus. For our second round, I got the Dirty 90's martini, which had vodka infused with olive oil, house brine vermouth and blue cheese stuffed olives. I was a little confused at first, as the drink was served with the chilled vodka and vermouth served in different gland, but soon realized it was designed to be blended to your preferred taste. I enjoyed the dirty martini, although probably would opt to get one of their other drinks next time. My friend got the Barbary Coast Cocktail for his second round, which the waitress recommended as being somewhat similar to a Moscow mule. The drink had whisky, cacao, passionfruit, ginger beer and makrout lime. We both loved this drink, as the ginger beer and passionfruit cut through the whisky, making a very quaffable and refreshing drink. Overall, I really loved the experience at Starlite, as the cocktails were original and top notch, and the view was outstanding. I will definitely be back here to try more of the menu. read more

NA drinks: Their non-alcoholic drink menu is actually had interesting drinks, not just mocktails that taste like juice. Their Autumn drink caught my eye because it included five spice syrup and white miso. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked, and the drink itself was very florally and fragrant. I was seated by the window with great views. The lounge being so high up, I can see cloud moving, so cool~ There are a few bar bites I wanna try but only have stomach space for one. I decided on Beef Tartare this time. The combo is very flavorful and goes very well with my cocktails. For cocktails I have: Brown Derby: it's a beautiful drink. I love grapefruit flavor and elderflower liquor is a plus P**n Star Martini: the drink came out in a very pretty pink clear color. A very tasty drink Cable Car Redux: I was very curious and a little afraid of the five spinach being too avant-garde for me. But all the flavors really work super well and it's a delicious drink! Had an amazing time at Starlite! We came here on a Thursday night before heading to an event nearby for drinks and light food. Located on the 21st floor of the beautiful Beacon Grand, it offers an upscale classy vibe, but still has fun upbeat music for a good time! Service was great and we were seated right away by the window for the amazing city views. They were also very attentive and we did not have to wait long for anything at all. We decided on the Tulip Martini and the Pisco Punch, along with the fries and removed furikake. What AMAZING flavors! Everything felt like such high quality, with multiple dimensions of sweet, tangy, and fruity in the drinks, and the creme fraiche had a lovely lemon flavor. It really saddens me to write this review, especially because I was so excited to try this place. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived almost an hour early for our 6:30pm reservation last Saturday at the Beacon Hotel for Starlite. The hotel restaurant was very nice. Upon arrival, I kindly asked the host if we could be seated earlier, and she agreed. Fast forward to today, I notice a $30 "no-show" charge from the Beacon Hotel. This is beyond frustrating. I gave my name, we showed up early, and even got seated early. To make matters worse, OpenTable followed up with me after the reservation, and I confirmed that we had indeed arrived but we came early and were seated around 5:45pm. The service during our meal wasn't much better. We had multiple people taking our order, with one asking if we were ready to order, when someone just took our order. It felt disorganized and inattentive. Even when I started my order asking for a drink, the server asked me again if I wanted a drink before walking away. On the positive side, the food was pretty good. The oysters were fantastic, and the hot fried chicken buns were a highlight. However, when it came time to pay, the waiter told me I didn't need to leave a tip because it was already included. While I appreciate the honesty, it made me wonder if that's why the service felt so lackluster. Overall, I'm more upset about the lack of care from the staff, especially considering the no-show charge for something that wasn't even my fault. I probably won't be returning and I suggest others be cautious about their experience here especially if you made reservations on OpenTable and arrive way earlier. read more

Starlite is star BRIGHT! Well maybe not literally (it's pretty dim in there), but this was a super cool bar on the top floor of the Beacon Grand Hotel I visited in SF. My cousin from the Bay took me here for drinks after an amazing dinner. We didn't have a rezzy, but thankfully they had a couple of bar seats available when we walked in. There was a host downstairs in the lobby and one when we got up to the restaurant. Both were decently friendly, but I noticed the second hostess was much more bubbly and friendly to the two ladies immediately in front of us versus when my cousin and I approached haha, so probs my only note. But I guess that's just the nightlife culture perhaps (but we were dressed for a night out too!) I indulged in the Baghdad By the Bay, a perfectly fruity and sweet tequila based drink. My cousin originally ordered the Tulip Martini, but we both didn't enjoy it at all. BUT, don't worry, our bartender definitely read the vibes and knew we weren't fans and whipped up his own concoction for her to try. He was super fun and warm and made sure she enjoyed the new drink (and offered to make yet another drink if not). Outstanding service! When looking for a "rooftop" bar but still wanna be sheltered from the unpredictable weather that can sometimes be San Francisco weather, this is the place. We've been twice and the menu changed a smidge inbetween that time and the 2nd time- the seafood tower (petite plateau) disappointed. It's overpriced and nothing special but we were craving a snack before we headed home (we went craving for their baked oysters but no longer available). Also, in our 2nd visit the napkins went from being cutesy/detailed to plain green napkins (a small detail but feels like a sign they've cut back) The drinks are satisfactory but having tried other specialty cocktail bars this one isn't quite as memorable. I tried the porn star martini and then switched to a glass of white wine. Service is questionable, I don't necessarily like being asked to hold our card in advance before even making an order and our 1st visit, our waitress just gave a vibe of not liking us and the 2nd time around, we're almost certain we had the same waitress and had the same feeling (she felt the need to correct in a harsh manner, my husband when he ordred the seafood tower but that's literally the description of the petite plateu) BUT the hostess is wonderful and so is her surrounding team.
