After giving them a multitude of changes, I can honestly say I would not allow them to touch anyting on my property. Our first experience was when I had them wire a 50 amp rv outlet on our house. With in two days, the breaker exploded, becasue they had installed the wrong brand breaker into the breaker box, causing the entire box for the house to explode. Luckly, nobody was hurt, and it didnt casue a fire. I called, and they let me know that they had fired the electrition that had come out, and send a different person out, who replaced the entire panel in the house. I than had them out to run 6 RV boxes, and set up a new, 400amp service for a commercial property. They qouted me a 2 day turn around time, and let me know they would handle everything, which seemed great. All seemed good, untill we got the City inspection report back, and failed. Not only had they attempted to submit this as a residental project, which it wasnt, they installed two seperate boxes, a 150, and a 200 amp service to try and avoid having to get permits for a comercial service. After, a literal year, we finally passed inspection. This all leads us up to my most recient challenge. One of the boxes they installed stopped working properly, so I went to take a look, to find it completly fried. I called a licenced electrition (not them) to take a look, and we quickly found the issue. None of the plugs had ground wires run to them. They just left that hole blank, which meant that there was no way to trip the breaker if it surges, causing it to explode. The new electritians exact words were "oh my god, this is how people die". I now, have a multi thousand dollar repair on my hand, but on the bright side, nobody died. read more

I sent Star Tech Electric a really long list of electric work that my house was in need of. Two guys came out today. They were full of good things. Unfortunately most everything was broken enough ($700 ceiling fan) two sets of motion sensor lights. One was very costly about 2 years ago the other not so much. I was just crazy about these two guys. They were full of advice and teaching moments. I have used Star Tech many times, I've always been impressed with their work ethic and their knowledge. I wish I could give negative stars. Beware of this company! We contacted this company to replace a breaker. When we asked for a quote, we were met with some serious resistance. We requested quote numerous times and the only response we could get was that we would be told how much it would be later. I finally called them to get an estimate a few hours before the appointment. The man with whom I spoke told me that they would charge us a service call fee of $79 plus a fee of $175 per hour plus parts. I asked him how much the parts would be to replace the breaker. I was again met with serious resistance to disclosing the price. He told me that we would find out how much the bill would be AFTER the technician arrived. So, we were going to be on the hook to pay them the service call fee plus the hourly fee in order to get an estimate for a simple breaker replacement. IE, we needed to pay them $254 and then they would tell us how much more we were to pay. I told him that we needed a quote prior to any work due to some bad experiences we have had with price gouging in the past. I was met with the most condescending and unacceptable response I've ever encountered. He told me that I have no faith in mankind and that my head was in clouds. He said I was stupid to think that a service tech would price gouge. Obviously, immediate red flags went off in my head. Whenever a company rep tells you that you are stupid for wanting an estimate before they complete work and that you have no faith in mankind, it is obvious that they are getting ready to try to take advantage of you. They wanted me to give them an open checkbook for a simple breaker replacement. There is no telling how much they were going to charge us. Don't waste your time or energy contacting this company. They will want you to pay them $250+ just to give you an estimate AND tell you that you are "stupid and your head is in the clouds" for wanting that estimate. Beware of them! read more

Top to bottom and side to side, they've provided incredible service in addition to doing the work with attention to detail and successfully repairing our challenging situations. Ceiling fan installation? Check! Had to do some custom work to provide a safe and secure mounting of the fan--they're like artists with a technical side. Weird short thing that happened in the kitchen's island--Check! Re-wired the outlets and we haven't had a problem since. It's weird, they say they're going to do something, and they do it! They say they'll call and follow up to reschedule an appointment, and they do it! They say they're going to arrive at a certain time, and they text and call to notify they'll be earlier if that's OK. OK, that'll be fantastic! And they arrive in full Covid-safety mode and they do the work! And they're affordable. Parts, labor, all reasonable. read more

Startech did an amazing job not once, not twice but all six times I've had them come out to our house to update lighting or to add on to our ongoing projects. They are professional, kind, fast, honest, problem solving and very easy to work with. You can't go wrong giving them a call and putting them to work. The breaker switch for our pool equipment kept tripping, and the last time I reset it I saw a flash inside the panel. I called Startech around 10 and they said they could squeeze us in, probably toward end of day. Doug called about noon and said they were ahead of schedule and said he could be there in 20 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a loose wire and fixed it, he also answered all my questions and gave some suggestions about additional steps I could take. Had these guys out to install 2 220 outlets for a new machine I purchased. Didn't quote me but, I asked one of the guys less than 30 mins of completion and he said around $350 and I told him that someone else was legit for it, when it was time to pay, the cost jumped to $520. Be warned, get a true hard quote from these guys, and also make sure you have a trash can or they'll just throw their trash on the floor or in any container that resembles a trash can. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN..... He may not be a human calculator, but I work hard for what I have and this company took me for a fool and charged me $170 more than what they should've! I was in the right turn lane to get on Mopac and one of their drivers decided last minute to stop in the lane to my left and when I started moving forward he began to cut into the lane and I had my horn blowing yet he kept pushing me over onto the shoulder. Rude driver. I would never use any of their services when they hire people of this caliber. He didn't want to do the right thing and get in the turn lane and chose to run up front to jump in front of other cars lined up to turn. If I had not backed off he made it clear he was going to push me out of the way. I did get his actions on video if the company would like to see how rude their drivers are. read more

We have been loyal customers of Startec Electric for many years; however, when I called them this morning to get their help with a power outage in 1/2 of my home which included our HVAC system they told me that they couldn't help with our emergency and to call someone else. In the past we have waited a week or more for non emergency electrical work; however, in an emergency we would have appreciated a quicker response. So much for being loyal to an individual company in this day in-age. A lesson learned the hard way. These guys are great for jobs where there isn't a time constraint; however, in an emergency, you had better use someone else. read more

Worked with this company for several months during the summer and they could never fix the problem. Travis was the one that seemed to know the issue but he would send someone else out that was not familiar with it or did not have the experience in dealing with it. A different breaker was supposed to be put in to be able to handle what we had. A new one was put in but the same kind of breaker, I found that out a couple weeks ago when I had someone look at it and that was months later. Travis always said he would be out in the next few days, took him usually a week or more, wouldn't return calls or texts. Didn't see him again. The final time dealing with this company Travis sent another crew out. They said they took care of it and the issue was fixed. I paid them (a lot) and the issue happened again. read more

I wanted to give a shout-out to StarTech Electric. A few days ago I used Startech to add a 60amp breaker box in preparation for some new pool equipment. They had previously given me an estimate for the work (no charge for the estimate). It was a pricey job as expected, but when they actually got into the garage attic to begin the work, they discovered untapped electrical resources. Can't really speak for their actual service, but my attempts to get these folks to come out to my house for some actual electric work was sorely lacking. I took the time over the weekend to complete their rather extensive form on their website requesting service. After completing it, I received an email saying someone would call me. By Tuesday I hadn't heard anything so I called their number. The man who answered proceeded to lecture me about how nobody really uses their Internet form (about 1 in 550!) and he really doesn't pay attention to that stuff and I should use the telephone. We have used Startech about three times, the last one being over a year ago, but apparently they no longer respond when a customer has a need. Perhaps they are "too big for their britches" now, but we called them and left a request to call us for four straight days. NEVER a response. Sorry but this is not a reputable company. Robert and Charlie came to my house to install ceiling fans. They showed up and didn't have the right size ladder so they had to come back. They came back three days later to install and said that I had the wrong down rods. Robert said no worries I can get them in 2 to 3 days. He calls while he's at my home and says that he can get them. I said okay and leave everything where its at since you'll be back in a few days. Fast forward, 2 weeks later I called Robert and he said that he would put me on the calendar for this Friday. It's Friday and I haven't heard from Robert so I call Bart the owner. Bart says let me call Robert and see what's going on. He calls me back 2 hours later and says that he can have my fans installed next week either Tuesday or Wednesday. I told him that I was told a few days to have the work done and now it's going to be almost three weeks. Bart says "I'm sorry but it is what it is" In the mean time I have the fans built sitting on the floor waiting for them to install them. No customer service, No follow up, No follow thru. This company sent two young men over yesterday to fix our hot water heater. It took them all of 5 minutes to diagnose the problem-two loose wires that needed to be connected.
