Extremely rude office staff. For my visit I requested the amount that would be billed to my insurance and also for various panels. The office manager (and other office workers) behaved as if my question was crazy. Office manager specifically told me that she did not know what codes are billed, I could call billing (she would not), but that billing wouldn't be able to tell me until after they actually send a bill to my insurance. Not only unhelpful - but even the manner with which they delivered the message was extremely rude. I believe they likely are in violation of No Surprises Act and other CA laws designed to protect patients - but I needed medical services at that moment. I would not go here again. read more

I was told I would hear back from them the next day about my test results. They told me to call back at 2:00 if I haven't heard from them. I called around noon, then again at 2:30, each time they promised I would get a call back with the results since they received it. The provider never called me back. I called several times after they closed and they didn't answer the phone. This occurrence shows a lack of care and dishonesty. I probably will not return if I ever need to. read more

Summary: If you need urgent care go here. It's a $200 flat rate to be seen + additional costs if you need additional services (injections, x-rays, etc). As of 09/2023 this is a very fair price. Detailed: I was seen by Lauren (Front Desk), Veronica (Medical Assistant), and Kellie (Nurse Practitioner). All three staff members were friendly, efficient, and clearly answer any questions. Financial: I spent hours stressing out about which urgent care to go to, how it would pan out without insurance (paying out of pocket), and if the urgent care facility was going to cheat me. Lauren explained how the payment system worked and was very transparent what to expect. My friend, a former Family Care MD, said that an urgent care visit is typically $250-500 depending on what needs to be done. STAT MED Urgent Care's pay scale was right on the money. I spent $30 at CVS getting the prescription filled for a total out of pocket expense of $230. That's $230 well spent rather than risking a worsening illness that could develop into a $10k hospital stay. Care: Veronica and Kellie were friendly, yet down to business. Efficient and focused, they asked targeted questions to assess my medical condition and how to proceed from there. I expressed my anxiety over the complexity of the medical industry to Kellie and she bantered with me; instantly melting my tension. Her energy put me at ease. I was pretty sick...102 degree temperature prior four days, sinus and breathing issues. Within one hour, received the test, prescription for antibiotics and inhalers. VERY professional, patient and kind not just to me but many other patients and families. VA approved. Very affordable. Thank you. I'm on the mend but will take weeks. I went back in about a week and a half later, without an appointment, and the staff were just as friendly, helpful and understanding. Extremely bad experience for my toddler's treatment. They failed to send the prescription to the pharmacy. He could not get any medication that day because of this and was in pain. Next day, when asked what happened, the reception response was, "I don't know. I have sent it now. " Went to pharmacy again to find out that it is still not received. After back and forth, we got the prescription. Not worth the hassle if you can find any other urgent care. read more

It is my sincere hope that this was an isolated incident * Very disappointed in Stat Med's business practices. I have utilized them almost a dozen times for myself & family since they first opened in our area. This review is solely regarding the billing department and whoever is in charge of administrative issues. (I have to add that I have been mostly satisfied with their doctors, PAs and nurses). I visited this location back in August and was told that I do not have insurance coverage. I informed the staff that my children were just in last month for their Drive-thru COVID testing and I have literally been on the same insurance plan for the last 10 years. However, the staff insisted that I must pay privately for my services otherwise they could not treat me. As it turns out, it was a weekend and they really could not verify my benefits. Which is fine but fast forward a month later, I noticed the claim was paid by my insurance (yes, the same one that supposedly was inactive!). I then call the billing department with this info and was assured this issue would be handled. Months later I am still waiting for my refund and just today, I finally got through to a rep who told me my refund (of nearly $200) would take up to 30 days to get. He is unsure of the time timeline but I'm to call back in a month or so if I don't receive it. Really... Stat Med?! I really like your practice and how easy it is to walk-in, schedule COVID testing and make appointments but this is NOT how you run a business. It is inefficient and unfair to patients. Unfortunately I had to find a Dr. on a Saturday morning to remove a hearing aid rubber dome that was stuck in my ear. You cannot remove on your own safely and my provider was closed on weekends. I checked my options on line and picked StatMed based on reviews. I was able to check in on line so that I was placed in queue. According to the on line system I was able to go there in 20 minutes. WOW! When I arrived they have parking spaces reserved in front of facility for them. Great! Check in paper work was easy, ID & insurance card. I paid a co-pay based on my insurance coverage. Triage nurse took all vitals and answered so questions. I was brought to a treatment room and waited under 5 minutes and met Nurse Practitioner Kellie Amador. NP was very upbeat, friendly and very confident which placed me at ease. The ear done was removed from my ear quickly with no discomfort. This facility is awesome as I was in and out in less than 30 minutes total. Of course my was a less complex visit but to me it was a priority. My first and second visit here were good and that's why I didn't give it a 2-star review. Problem happened with my third visit. I made an online check in weeks ahead for a test. After driving for one hour to get here, I was told at the front desk that they can't see me because my insurance company didn't cover my second visit. And I had to pay double the price for the service compared to the cash price now because my insurance company already processed it even though it didn't pay for it. I understand the policy but it sucks to come all the way here only to be told that I can't be seen. I didn't even know that my insurance didn't pay. No one told me when I made the appointment either. How am I supposed to know all these? And I asked if I can do my third visit and pay cash for it. The answer is no. So I had to drive all the way back without getting my test. I went for a simple prescription refill. Showed them my upcoming doctors appointment. Simple Simon took 5 minutes. I'm on Medicare and this crazy bill arrives. I moved from back east and was having a hard time finding a doc. Wert to The Stanford clinic and it cost me $33.00. Stat med charged me $$377. Will never step foot into this rip off. Totally depends on who you get. I have used them before and been happy, and I got my covid vaccines here. Today I called ahead and asked if they could do a specific thing that my double board certified doctor wanted but had to be done while the problem was occurring. I was told to come over and they would do it. But when I got there the nurse practitioner decline to do it- so clearly nobody checked with her. So they wasted both my time and money. Then the nurse practitioner wanted a blood test, a single blood test was all she mentioned, but when the tech came to draw blood she had a fist full of vials. When I questioned why, she said the nurse practitioner ordered a bunch of other stuff without talking to me. I had all of the tests 6 days before- there was absolutely no reason to repeat them. I had the results on my app on my phone. Which I showed her. Repeating a whole battery of blood tests was pointless. I question the judgement and training of the practitioner. I especially question the communication between the staff and the communication of the nurse practitioner to me. If you need a vaccine, stitches, or something similar this place may be fine. I have had other people here who listened and communicated well. Was this practitioner actually trying to help? Maybe. But mostly she seemed to be trying to cover her a**, and possibly run up the bill. I see three specialists, I would be going to them for treatment- I just needed information. This review is solely for their billing department. I received both doses for the COVID-19 vaccine from them late last year. I have PPO insurance, but that's neither here nor there since all US individuals can receive the COVID-19 vaccine free of charge regardless of insured status. I just received a bill in the mail from Stat Med claiming I am responsible for the 1st dose of the vaccine. The bill included a letter stating there may be an insurance discrepancy so I called the billing department and verified my insurance information, despite the fact my insurance has been the same for 6+ years. I verified my explanation of benefits with my insurance provider and can see the claim was processed 6+ months ago. I was told by the Stat Med billing department the claim for the vaccine was "denied" and the balance was my responsibility. This is 100% false and illegal. According to the Health Resource & Services Administration (look up the 'Provider COVID-19 Vaccine Fact Sheet'), "Only insurance companies or the federal government can be billed for vaccine administration fees, not patients. ... Providers who bill patients for COVID-19 vaccination fees may be reported to the HHS Office of Inspector General, including those participating in the HRSA COVID-19 Uninsured Program." The fact sheet clarifies, "[Providers who administer the COVID-19 Vaccine] May not seek any reimbursement, including through balance billing, from vaccine recipients." When I called the Stat Med Billing representative out on their unfair (and unethical) billing practices, the lady simply repeated the script she was reading, and suggested I call my insurance company and determine why the claim was denied, or it's my responsibility to pay the balance. She also asked if I had other insurance that could pay the claim, if I was unwilling. Even if I were uninsured, insurance is NOT required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and providers cannot bill patients for it. There are federal programs in place (literally called the COVID-19 uninsured program) to address this need. I'm leaving this review for others who may or may not be insured so they may know they are not responsible for any fees if the COVID-19 vaccination is the sole medical service provided. Stat Med's Billing department has been reported, as per policy, to the HHS Office of Inspector General and should be ashamed they are trying to take advantage of patients. read more

Very disappointed in statmed business and how they handled their mistake. My father and I were seen on 08/14/21 after a car accident. They started to take my vital but since they said my dad needed to go to the ER instead, they suspended my visit (and refunded $20 office copay) and said i can make another appointment. I took my dad to ER and came back to make another appointment for 8/16/21. Months later I was charged for both days. I called the office multiple times but they said they don't deal with billing and i have to call their billing department instead. I called the billing department (5 times) in which took more than a month to get me around the loop, and my problem still hasnt been solved. None of them is offering to give me a callback, but instead, they told me i need to call in to get an update since they are very busy. Right???? Somebody at the office made a mistake, and now im the one who has to chase after their mistake. After 7 calls (2 to the office, 7 to the billing departments), I was told that they decided to charge me for both days, even i they suspened my first appointment. I didn't get any recommendation or treatment beside having my vital checked. Now im left to pay both bills. Ridiculous! read more

I called and made appt for 2:30 pm at around 11:30. Filled out all information online including type of insurance. Not at any time did they say they did not accept my insurance. When we got there and I waited at the front desk for the receptionist to check us in. After about 5 minutes I asked if there was a problem. She stated because their main office is in contra costa county, the could not accept my insurance. At this point I had a crying 9 year old in incredible pain and would be stuck in emergency room for hours. They charged 200.00. Even Blackhawk urgent care only charges 85.00. The doctor spent less than three minutes in the room. They would not let us be seen until I paid and they would not even give him an ice pack until I paid and showed no empathy. Certainly not a place to take children. Diagnosis was fine but I had to ask for something for his pain and got push back. I asked for ear drops or something and finally they gave him some Motrin . Not a really good atmosphere and front desk was not personable or compassionate.the fact that their excuse for not accepting covered California and medical is that their base is in contra costa county. Doesn't make sense since the clinic is in Livermore which is alameda county. How can this clinic be over twice as expensive as Black Hawk? read more

Got a same day appt on a Saturday when my visiting-from-college kid ended up with a nasty cough. They did forget about us in our car while waiting to get covid tested, but other than that, was a very smooth experience. The doctor caught that kiddo had a sinus infection and mild bronchitis and got her prescribed 4 meds to treat the infection and the symptoms. Even being forgotten in the car, we we done in less than 2 hours. Much faster than urgent car would have been. read more

Really great local urgent care. I go there regularly for Covid tests because their system is so straightforward and results are fast. But I recently had to go for a true visit, and the experience was great. Was able to make an appointment online easily. Was seen within 30 min of my appt time despite being very busy with booster appts and they apologized for the wait. The PA that saw me was kind, thorough, and helpful. They provided me with a realistic return to work timeline and helpful medications. Great experience all around. read more

It's nice to know it's so close to my family's house in the event they need anything. Out of being polite, I made another appointment with them and ultimately walked away again after waiting 30 minutes since the time of appointment. I had an abscess in my finger that needed to be drained and cleaned. While most other Urgent Care centers in the area either did not have openings, were not open that day, or had dismal reviews, STATE MED Urgent Care was able to see me within the hour. Elizaveta DeLong, PA took care of it. She was caring, knowledgable, efficient. Overall, I'm quite happy with my visit. The cost though, was a bit disappointing. Since I have a HDHP, I ended up having to pay almost $500 for my 45 minute visit. This seems rather high to me, but considering the price of medical care in America, for all I know, this could be considered anything from a bargain to outrageous. read more

I cut my hands loading some trash yesterday. I knew I was going to need a few stitches. I don't have health insurance. I called around trying to find a reasonable option for addressing my wounds. I was contemplating driving over to highland hospital where I could get low-cost care if not free at the county hospital. I called stat med. She said office visits 175. And that laceration repair was $250. I responded so you're saying like $500 to put some stitches in my hand. She said no it would only be $250. So I came in and paid their $175 up front. I said I had been quoted $250 for a laceration repair do you want me to pay that now. No lets take care of that on the back side. I had a very positive experience with your staff. The Doctor probably spent 20 minutes putting stitches in. I go up front and the bills $450. I think that's north of $1,000 an hour. I went back to the office twice and called once trying to talk to a manager. Explain the situation to the front desk. He said he left a note for the manager. I never heard from them. This behavior lacks honesty and integrity. They put four stitches in one hand, of which two have pulled out. He was super glue on the other hand which as of a week has not healed. Had an ongoing respiratory problem for weeks that another urgent care clinic indicated was just a minor respiratory infection and refused to prescribe me antibiotics for even when I explained my history of pneumonia. Lingered for weeks and kept getting worse. Came here, they gave me the antibiotics I needed and five days later everything cleared up. Very grateful for their assistance. read more

I was feeling sick at work and this was the closest urgent care by there. I called to verify that they accept kaiser and they did so I made an appointment. I was happy with the friendliness of the staff and the Dr. I really liked how they were able to send my medicine to the kaiser pharmacy. I've been to many urgent cares and none has been able to do that for me. The next day after my visit the Dr called to check up on me and see how I was feeling. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I don't feel they are staffed to deliver a high standard of care on weekends when we often can't turn towards our PCPs. For example, they have an x-ray machine but no technician to operate it on a weekend. Worse, they are able to do a quick blood sugar test, but did not have anyone capable of running an IV if treatment was needed. The PA had no smile, very matter-of-fact. She said she had to check on something then never came back. So a nurse came in to help me, who, guess what? No smile, no personality. I was lucky enough to get sick right after Christmas and needed to see a doctor before going out of town for New Years. Stat Med came up on my Google search as a business that had just opened. I was pleasantly surprised with my very first urgent care experience. The receptionist were very friendly and I loved the iPad check in. They also let me know that in the future I can check in from home! Dr. Shikora saw me within 5 mins of waiting and gave me a thorough check up. He diagnosed me with a sinus infection and influenza B after a quick test. It was so easy to walk my prescription to cvs next door but they also gave me the option of buying it right there! After 4 days of Z pack and the doctors recommendation of Mucinex- I am just about back to normal! I would gladly come back to stat med and may even chose if over my provider in the future because it is so convenient! Highly recommend!! read more

I Went here for a somewhat severe nose and lip injury from a fall and they got me in quickly and were very thorough while providing a spot on diagnosis of what I broke and how I should follow up and care for my injury in the days to come. Well I made an appt but they don't let you in to see a dr. So I had a long wait in my car. Then they wanted to do covid test even though the symptoms presented are not covid. Fine. I guess they gotta make money somehow. At $400 a pop I can see why. It's not about safety. I'm sure if someone had a broken leg they will still have to take a Covid test. I never saw the dr. Everything was done in the car. But I'm sure they will bill the insurance as an urgent care visit. The other thing, they have a sign posted on the door saying their holiday hours and when they are closed. So the incompetent people there say that 12/30 is New Year's Eve. I told the intake person the sign was wrong. He argued with me up one side and down the other. No ma'am, 12/30 is New Year's Eve! Folks I can't make this up! So the techs obviously never went to school. Since when is 12/30 New Year's Eve? He said it was news to him. These people are in charge of medical records! Oh boy! read more
