I feel so lucky to live so close to this farmers' market. It's open 7 days a week, but the weekends are definitely more "open" than the rest of the week - with ALL the stalls open. There are lots of produce choices, several plant stalls, a couple of meat vendors, several florists, and then some truly great food vendors. Came out on a Sunday. Love that this market is open 7 days a week. My only tip is to arrive early because some vendors start shutting down a little early (it was around 3 PM on Sunday and some vendors were winding down; closes at 5 PM on Sundays). Came here on a Saturday morning about 9 with plenty of parking (we left around 10 and parking was still ok but a bit harder to find). Lots of gorgeous fresh produce and friendly stalls. We grabbed some baked goods from the German bakery and wandered around. There are more stalls than just the first main building - including some spots to grab different food. By the time we wanted to check out the restaurant, the line was out the door so we got some fresh fruit for our ride to go. Great spot with littles - my toddler loved a baked good and cookie for breakfast! Lots to see and try and it's a really beautiful space. Some accept credit card and EBT! read more

The State Farmers Market in Raleigh is super fun for the whole family and a great way to spend your weekend. I came with here with my husband and we left with pumpkins, local honey, baked goods and more. Bringing your own bag is encouraged although many vendors do provide plastic/paper bags. Some farmers accept SNAP/EBT but lots are cash-only, so it's good to bring some cash if you plan on buying things. Many of the stands were on the pricier side but it's a price I was willing to pay to get locally grown produce. We arrived around 11:30am and the parking was a bit of a nightmare, so I'd recommend coming earlier if you come on a Saturday. Overall I had lots of fun and I'll definitely be back soon! read more

The Market Bakery is divine (12/10 sourdough, jalapeño cheddar bread and bourbon pecan pie) and 321 coffee has wonderful brews made by even more wonderful people. This really is a great farmers market to support the local community. We bought apples, micro greens. onions, bread, turnips, strawberries and more. I love supporting local as these people could use support from all of us! It was a bit chilly but I had my hat so I was good! There is an indoor and outdoor part of the market which is great. The biscuits were off the chain. Best I've ever had. Food was fresh and serving size was over the top. Service was excellent. Ajay did an outstanding job. Very nice atmosphere. They do need to upgrade the bathroom. One urinal and one toilet for the amount of customers this place has. read more

We came here on a whim. I saw a sign while we were driving and although we've visited my husband's family numerous times, we've never visited this market before. So we decided to stop in to check it out. It was a Sunday at around 3:30. It's a big parking lot, so there are plenty of spots - though I'm sure it's more crowded earlier in the day. The market doesn't close until five, but we were expecting most of the produce to be sold out already but they still had a lot left to choose from. There's one side that sells produce and plants and if you cross over to the other building, they have some baked goods, and souvenirs to take home (i.e. spices, sauces, etc.). Prices seem pretty reasonable. I wish we had a farmer's market like this back at home! read more

What I enjoy most about being a new resident of North Carolina is how much agriculture is at the center of everything. If you have visited the NC State Fair or the Got To Be NC Festival then you'll get a new appreciation for the term " Homegrown ". There is an abundance of local products from jams, fresh flowers and plants, cheeses, fresh baked goods to barbecue sauce, and spices. There is something for everyone to enjoy. What I find unique about the grounds are the NC State Restaurant and Seafood for a nice sit down meal before or after you've shopped. Walk around first before purchasing an item for the best price. I am currently shopping for plants but many were priced $20-$60. We stopped to dine at the NC Farmers Market Restaurant which was a nice treat for an early breakfast. I enjoyed the fresh bologna biscuit and iced coffee. I plan to try the seafood restaurant next visit. Come early, leave happy. read more

Just in Raleigh visiting for the weekend and we stopped here in a Saturday morning. This farmers market is massive and has a huge selection of items to choose from. There was a massive amount of fresh fruits and vegetables for sale at a decent price, several meat vendors and a lot of baked goods as well. We didn't get to see the garden section but it looked like it had a lot of flowers and plants for sale as well. I liked that this market was more oriented towards actual farm produce than just knick-knacks for sale. We bought some fresh peanuts, muscadine grapes and peaches and they were all great. I couldn't WAIT, to pay them a visit. There were many vendors to choose from, but it mostly came down the biggest bang for the buck and the crowds. Because I was traveling back to Texas, I wanted something that came in a smaller bundle. The peach vendor was so sweet, she found some of her harder peaches so they would make it back to Texas without getting bruised. They were juicy, my goodness, were they juicy. The strawberries you see in the picture, are the berries I purchased. Again, another great choice and they're so dang fresh. The cherries, believe it or not, only one vendor had. They did so well when traveling, I couldn't wait to eat them when getting home. Lastly, the apple pecan bread. I had a bite, but left it behind to be eaten by a friend. That was the only thing I didn't have a taste for after the first bite, other than that, I LOVED my experience and can't wait to visit again! read more

What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon whilst 70° outside! Hubby and I were walking from vendor to vendor looking at all the gorgeous produce. We saw purple and orange cauliflower. We saw every kind of apple. Local farmers were their meats, homemade sausages such as blueberry maple and holiday blends. Others were showcasing their talents such as birdhouses, trinkets, homemade soaps, spices, jellies, etc. Fresh cakes, breads and pastries were available. This was great! It was our first time to the restaurant! It was a Monday around 11 and we were seated right away. The waiter and hostess were super nice! So they bring biscuits to the table! OMG they were perfect!! Our youngest had from the kids menu, their waffle with egg and sausage, the oldest ordered the pancakes with chocolate chips.. She thought the pancakes had the chips mixed in when making them. So she didn't like them. The husband had the corn-beef hash with fried chicken, I had the eggs with home fries and another biscuit!! Everything was delicious! The plates were hearty and there was no leftovers! The place seems to get busy and it was getting packed as we were leaving! I'm a big sucker for farmers markets so I was excited to visit this one that happens every single day of the week? Was a bit worried that since we went in the afternoon, there wouldn't be that many vegetables and fruits left but that was not the case at all. Here are my favorite things in farmers market: - I really appreciate how they have a lot of produce specific to North Carolina. For example, I have never heard or seen a supernog before which is a cross between grapes and lychee so it was interesting to try that. There was also this booth that had a bunch of spicy peppers which are always very fun to see and buy a bit for a spicy pepper challenge. - The farmers market is not limited to produce but also flowers and other trinket and small snacks store which I appreciate. Interesting time coming in October because the back part of the market just seems to be a huge pumpkin patch. - There is plenty of outdoor seating. - I appreciate also how spaced a part all the booths are to one another which gives you some breathing room to appreciate each stall. Overall, fantastic experience at the Farmers Market. Wouldn't say you could spend very long here if you didn't try some of their local foods, but would recommend when in RTP area. read more

Overwhelming! I've never seen anything like this! It is huge! So many farmers offering a variety of different things. Definitely do a full pass and look at everything first before you start shopping. You'll find a wide variety of quality, items and prices. Bring cash as multiple vendors only take cash. There is an ATM on site but come prepared. It says no dogs allowed, but we saw several while we were there. Not sure why - it is in a covered building but it's open air. Good mix of prepared foods like dips and baked goods, fresh veggies and plants. Open every day too! read more

We really enjoy our trips to the State Farmers Market anytime of the year. On our last visit we had a lively and educational chat with Eric of Sauer Family Farm from Coats, NC. He had a booth set up outside next to the Seafood Market. We learned that there are many local farmers who grow sustainable, clean foods. Eric offered details on how their animals are raised and the healthy diets they have. We have been to farmers' markets before, but this was a farmer's market on steroids. There were SO MANY booths with a vast variety of produce and other items. I thought I knew a lot about produce in my years, but I was humbled after seeing the types of things that I had never heard of before. This is a definite place to go if you are looking to find items that you can find in other produce locations. There is also places to eat and grab some jarred items (which we did). The State Farmer's market was a bit scary to visit during covid, but I will say that they have done a very good job in making it feel safe to visit. The best place is the peanut lady. You will NOT get fresher, more authentic peanuts anywhere. Period. End of Story. They are warm, they are nicely salted. They are everything a southern peanut should be...and more. And I make a bee line for her when I'm there. Last time I went was during the start of pumpkin/squash season. To be honest, I was a little freaked out by the numbers of people, but they have social distancing one way in and out lines and about half the people were honoring that, and mostly everybody 97% compliant with mask wearing. It's a lot larger than what I imagined and was pleasantly surprised with the plentiful bounties and selection to choose from. Everyone is very friendly and it's worth just checking out if you want something to do. There are three main areas: the first is the open area that has primarily produce and plants, the second is an indoor area that has vendors selling things such as desserts, decor, jams/jellies, salsa and other things like that, the last is almost like a cart/booth area with food for purchase. Overall, it's a bustling market that is all about the local product. You will have some fun comparing prices and sampling to find the best of that they have.
