Really late lunch so it wasn't too busy. Ate on the patio and it was so comfortable. Our server, Vince, came right over and took our drink order. He told us about the specials and my mouth was drooling when he said soft shell crab. We started with the smoked salmon dip which was so creamy and delicious. For entrees the hubby had the blackened drum topped with blackened shrimp over Brabant potatoes. He was kind enough to give me a bite and oh boy it was so good. I, of course, had the fried soft shell crab special over smoky asparagus. The crab was topped with more crabmeat and a beurre blanc sauce. The crab was cleaned so well and then lightly fried. It was a very fat crab and every bite was a culinary delight. This was by far the best soft shell crab dish I have ever had. I certainly don't say that lightly because I eat soft shell crabs from the start of the season right up to the end. We were so full that there would be no need to eat dinner. Then Vince of course mentioned the desserts and we chose the chocolate peanut butter doberge cake with chocolate ganache. We told him to make it to go and do not open the box when he brought it to the table! Overall, Station 6 treated us to one of the best meals we have ever had. Celebrated a birthday with dinner on a Wednesday for 2. Got there for 530 since we always see it fill up. Seated quick and inside attentive waiter and ordered martinis to start. Fish did was salmon for appetizer and ordered their blackened gulf and regular gulf fish. Tried their bread pudding for dessert. Took some customers to lunch and might I saw what a great experience. The food was flavorful, delivered in a quick time and plenty. Our waitress Cydnee was attentive to our needs and checked in on us regularly and, something I appreciate, kept our drinks full. Quaint and snug restaurant with all the courses you'd expect from a fine New Orleans restaurant. A nice cocktail menu, somewhat average on execution. Delicious and creative takes on salads. Raw oysters at their freshest and cleanest - the oysters are really impressive. The spinach Madeline is scrumptious. Mains have plentiful food and the meats and seafoods are cooked on point. How was this weekend the first time I've been to Station 6?! It's a small restaurant with lots of charm. But the food is the real star. My mom and I went here to celebrate my birthday on Saturday evening. We started off with the smoked salmon dip and it was delicious. I've only had it with crackers or crostini at other restaurants so I was a little let down when it came out with pita chips and tortilla chips. However, the tortilla chips were made fresh and were perfect with it. I could have eaten a basket of just the chips. We shared the special which was fried soft-shell crab topped with jumbo lump crabmeat and a lemon beurre blanc. It was the best crab I've ever eaten! It was lightly breaded so you can really taste the crab which was super fresh. There was a generous amount of lump crabmeat on top with the perfect finish, a rich lemon beurre blanc. I can't wait to go back and have this dish again. 10 stars for this crab. We ended by each getting a dessert, peach/blueberry cobbler and butterscotch bread pudding. The bread pudding is made from donuts and was a little crunchy on the outside and light in the inside. Very good. The cobbler was also good with really fresh peaches that were still a little crisp. I would have preferred if it had more time in the oven to crisp up the streusel topping. My mom seemed to enjoy it just as it was. Altogether this was the best meal I've had in a while. Finally got a chance to stop in and really enjoyed. Lots of fish options for mains. Next time we'd try to sit on the patio as the inside was very loud in my opinion. Started off with 1/2 dozen oysters. They were decent in size and not a bad price. Also had the kale salad which was really good. I could see myself grabbing it for a quick, healthy lunch in the future. BF had the red snapper and I had pompeno. Both were good size portions for the money. Before we dive into the eats, let's talk location. Nestled near the New Orleans lakefront, this casual gem is perfectly positioned for a little pre-dinner adventure. I arrived early, so I climbed the birding observation tower at the park next door, and took in a breathtaking sunset. Nature's amuse-bouche, if you will. Now, onto the main event. Station 6 doesn't put on airs--it's relaxed, unfussy, and has a lovely patio for those who prefer their seafood with a side of fresh air. Our server was an absolute star, cracking jokes, keeping the vibes fun, and even throwing in a little celebratory hug when he announced the crab-on-crab special--which I had been not-so-patiently waiting to hear. And oh, was it worth the suspense: a beautifully fried soft-shell crab smothered in lump crabmeat, draped in a velvety beurre blanc, cozied up to perfectly roasted potatoes and asparagus spears standing at attention. A dish so divine it made me briefly consider taking out a second mortgage to order it again. We also kicked things off with a couple of appetizers--a creamy, dreamy crawfish dip with tortilla chips and a dozen of the plumpest, saltiest-to-the-gods oysters you could hope for. If those oysters were any fresher, they'd be filling out a restraining order against me. Drink-wise, I sipped on a couple of glasses of Cabernet while the rest of the table wisely split bottles. Because here's the thing: no happy hour means each glass of wine or cocktail hovers in the $13-$15 range, which makes splitting a bottle the strategic (read: less painful) choice. Now, let's address the usual elephant in the dining room: pricing. While most of the menu aligns with similar spots in town, that crab-on-crab special came in at a gasp-worthy $49.50. Toss in tax and tip, and you're looking at a $60+ entrée. Worth it? Maybe. But I'd need an extra special occasion (or a financial advisor's blessing) before I order it again. That said, Station 6 remains one of my top picks for consistently excellent food and service--it's just that my wallet and I may need to negotiate terms before my next visit. Will I return? When my friend swooped me up and told me we were going on an adult field trip to Bucktown, I had no idea how lucky I would be. We sat outside which was very delightful. The crab cake is not to be missed, the remoulade was so good we asked for extra and the crab cake was more crab than cake! Very important to note, as I do not enjoy bready crab cakes. For my entree, I had the special of the day, which was flounder with mashed potatoes, Brussels, crawfish sauce, and onion strings. Honestly, the waiter had a better description than what I am writing. Nonetheless, it was delicious!!!! It was so easy to eat and everything paired well with a glass of white wine. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. The hours are limited, so it was hard to get here. My friend and I typically go to lunch on Sundays. As they are not open on Sundays, we had to adjust our lunch to a Saturday. Note that it is a tiny place and gets crowded quick. We came right at noon when they open on Saturday. There were already 8-10 people waiting at the door to get in. We chose to eat inside as the covered outdoors portion seemed appealing, but the fans were on high for the heat and it was kind of like a wind tunnel in there. Inside was super noisy still though. A large table near us was drinking quite a bit and as the hour progressed, they got louder and louder. It was a tad annoying, as we could hardly hear our waitress go over the specials with us. Also, as time passed, the bar there filled up with every seat. We split an order of Salmon Tacos and one of the specials that day - a grilled chicken caesar salad. I think the Salmon Tacos should have come with a side, but they don't. They were excellent though. I think they are the best Salmon Tacos I have ever had. They put a whole large chunk of Salmon in each taco. It was delicious! The salad was tasty, and it was quite large. Note that the prices are on the higher side here. Great little place. They have a nice area outdoors to sit when the weather is right. My wife and I were greeted with smiles and friendly faces when we walked up. The hostess seated us right away. We were at our table about a min and our waitress (Mia B. ) came up and took our drink order. A very professional, friendly, happy and helpful young lady. My wife had the Durock Prok Chop and I had the Redfish on Half Shell (recommended by Mia) both selections were an excellent choice. Wish we had saved room for dessert. When was the last time you ate at a restaurant and, before you left, your server gave you a hug? Our server at Station 6 was Eddy and she was absolutely like family, ten minutes after we met her. The place was packed but she never missed a beat. We had two dozen raw oysters. So fresh! We each got a different entree and each loved what we got. My salmon tacos were off the chain. So flavorful! My son had soft shell crab which he absolutely devoured. Husband had grilled redfish and my daughter had kale salad with shrimp. They all loved it. This is a small place up by the lake and away from town. We sat on the patio with a window into the kitchen. It was a pleasant fall evening. Our server was quick and very helpful with ideas and suggestions. We got a simple salad for appetizer. Moving away I learn that really good food is not all fried. So many NO area restaurants serve mostly fried food. I was told that this place was a must visit so we decided to go today since the weather was beautiful. There was a wait, but it wasn't that ba, especially since the had comfortable seating under a tent. The restaurant is small and quaint, but it was really clean. The hostess was great and the staff was on point, especially our server. He was very attentive and friendly. Also knowledgeable about the menu. The food represented 5 star and the taste was really delicious. Definitely enjoyed everything that was served. The tacos were very tasty. I really enjoyed them. They were salmon tacos and they put a whole strip of salmon on it. My husband had the fish, forgot what kind, but he definitely enjoyed it. We both tried the bourbon sweet mash. Yesterday I dined at Station 6 with a coworker as a late bday dinner for myself. The service was excellent. The passion fruit sidecar was amazing. The waitress warned that it may be sour but it was perfect. In true celebratory fashion, I had 2. The crawfish spinach dip was good but needed a little salt. My coworker is a picky eater and absolutely lived it. This was a plus because she always makes me nervous when I pick a spot to eat and I don't know what she will like. I also ordered the American Red Snapper. The grilled red snapper with crawfish rice pilaf was amazing. I'm not much of a salt person but I did feel I needed to add a little salt to this dish as well. That's a simple fix and didn't stop the show. Typically when I come here I order the fried soft shell crab. My friend ordered that and loved it. I'm glad I decided to try something new. The restaurant was pretty calm and quiet for a Tuesday night, but I think the rain may have scared the crowd away initially. Things started to get a little busier right as we were leaving. I finally made it here and what a beautiful early evening it was. The temperature wasn't too muggy, you know how our NOLA summers are... a soft wind cascading off the water... and we were nestled beneath the outdoor patio... it was the beginning of a nice night. This was a plus for me because I like filtered water, tap-water ehhhhh not so much, bottled water, hello let's save the environment... But filtered water is right on the money. Thankfully the menu is fairly simple. One side is artwork, looks like a collage of pictures. On the other side are your food choices. He also presented us with a drink menu and to be noted, that one was two-sided, hello... Grilled salmon tacos for me and for my dining companion a scrumptious looking seafood salad. I also opted to top the night off with an adult beverage called an Old Fashioned. The grilled salmon tacos were quite tasty. There was a taco to fish ratio that kept my mouth pleased and happy. The corn and beans on top with the avocado were all too delightful. Sadly enough I only got two tacos, but I guess the portion size was right; I can only imagine if I had had a third one, I would've been gluttonous and eaten it there or doggy bagged and taken it home. The Old Fashioned got me on my level. It was powerful. I only needed one, shout out to the bartender. My dining companion advised that her salad was tasty as well. It looked quite delicious, but honestly the lett to seafood ratio was a little underwhelming to me, but I'm sure it tasted great. Loved the ambience. All modern & casual, yet elegant at the same time. Due to Covid, I had my apprehensions about going inside, so this outdoor patio situation was perfect. I found the waitstaff service to be excellent, very attentive and casual at the same time, not all stuffy like some of those hoity-toity restaurants. The food was good, as I perused the menu, I found the pricing to be more than I expected.
