Ya' know what? This surprised me! Steak n Shake has always been "okay" and then drive through has always been a super long wait with disappointing sloppy food which has lead us to not eat Steak n Shake in YEARS. Well today I was craving a Frisco Melt and so decided to go inside and try inside service for the first time in forever. You now walk in, order at a kiosk- and then pick a spot and wait for your # or name to be called- then walk up to a window to grab your food. I got a Frisco Melt Combo (around $9) Super Sized my fries ($1.50 extra) and paid extra for a Mint Oreo Milkshake (added $3 something) instead of a fountain drink for a total of $17. That also included a $3 Tip to the Kitchen and dining in surcharge. I ordered at the kiosk, and my food & milkshake was ready in less than 10 minutes. Honestly wanna say less than 5 minutes. It felt like we sat down and then our name got called. Then the food was super yummy and tasty. It was a great experience and I think the new re-structure with the kiosk and ordering is great for this kind of restaurant. No more frantic stressed servers running around, waiting to get your check, etc. I will def be back! Thank you! read more

We had lunch here today and it was ok. We haven't been to a Steak' n Shake in several years. The ordering is all on kiosks now. It was pretty simple and quick to order. Don't forget your receipt! You'll need that to scan the QR code on the receipt to work the soda machine. And don't throw it away if you plan of getting a refill - you'll need it each time. The burgers were very dry. We hadn't dined at a Steak 'n Shake since before Covid. Decided to try the Eastgate location after a shopping trip to Jungle Jim's. I liked that you had to order through a kiosk, but for those not familiar with how this works, it was taking longer, and one of them was down so we had to wait until the other people were finished. The dining room was clean, and there was one lady who was an attendant and helping everybody out and cleaning. She was very nice. A couple of people were having trouble using the fountain drinks because now you have to scan your receipt in order for them to work. Again, taking up time for the people waiting behind them. I thought these were all nice improvements. Overall, as this location was pretty bad in the past with service and cleanliness. We will definitely keep returning. read more

Well.. this was a random dinner stop for sure. Typically I don't even bother going to a fast food place only because I lean towards more of the healthier options.. but we wanted something quick and despite the overall low rating of this establishment, my husband still wanted to try it... and so here we are! lol.. You order per their kiosk, which is cool because my bro in law said typically their service is awful.. so self service is fine with me. Anywho... I ordered their garlic steak burger and my husband ordered the double cheese steak burger... and a chocolate milkshake. Garlic steak burger.. shockingly I thought this was pretty good. Had a nice strong garlic flavor.. don't know what the garlic sauce was made of (and won't ask).. but it was tasty. A little messy, but sometimes a messy burger is good. Double cheese steak burger.. My husband liked his burger, nothing crazy special about the burger, but it was good. Chocolate milkshake.. WAY too sweet. I could barely drink it because it was too sweet for me. It was even too sweet for my husband and he has a sweet tooth. Overall - pretty ok/good experience. Definitely need more employees because the interior was quite messy and tables were unkept. The kinks are worked out and service is FAST! The place was quite busy today I ordered for 3 at the kiosk, which took only a few moments. Less than two minutes after I got our drinks, our food was ready. My burger was perfectly made (get the grilled onions on your burger). The temperature was spot on and the kids loved their chicken tenders. The floors, counters, and tables were clean. The food is cooked in full view, so you know it is clean! All supplies were full. I just don't go through their drive thru if I am in a hurry(plenty of others places within a couple blocks). Pretty standard franchise store. Only been inside once but it was clean on that visit (sadly just as slow though). They decided they didn't want to pay cashiers and waitresses so they implanted kiosk, which I usually don't mind but the one that accepts cash which is what I had to pay with wasn't working g and the guy was like oh well. A total horror movie. I love Steak n Shake but even I can't find any redeeming qualities for this location. I understand that restaurants get dirty but this place is beyond that. It is complete and total filth. From the sticky floors to the clumps of dirt piling up on the floor, to the need to clean your own table before eating. The bathroom is so bad you feel lucky to have survived it. Piles of excrement in the toilets to the sink having something that looked close to vomit and stain in the bowl. If I hadn't already paid in advance at the kiosk (which is the only way to order) I would have ran out. Calling this place a dump is not fair to the word dump. It is beyond that. It is possibly the absolute WORST fast food place I have ever stepped foot in. The fries were cold and mushy and the burger was drowned in so much ketchup and mayo that it feels like they were trying to hide something. I'm quite finished eating here. The food is not unlike any other Steak N Shake I've been to, and I love the fact they have their usuals - I go for their chili or a burger and a shake. However, this is the final time that I will be going here. After my previous awful experience, I called Steak N Shake to complain about my poor visit here. They alerted management, who then alerted the store manager. I was sent a gift card with a set amount to make up for my poor experience. Since I had the gift card, my boyfriend and I decided to give Steak N Shake one last try. So despite my concerns, I walked in last night hoping to have an entirely different experience - - - NOT SO. Last time, I had my food served much later than my boyfriend's, and served cold - and our shakes never came until we reminded the waiter of our order. The wait to pay was ridiculous for it being just us in line. It's been a month or so, and I finally return with my boyfriend around 11:30 p.m. or so. They only had one waitress serving - understandable, night shift is difficult. However, we waited another 15 minutes to get anything past our drink orders. 3 other tables were served before we were, and subsequently all got their food before we did. The woman who sat us also sat 3 other tables, and I heard her say she'd take the working waitress' orders for her - and she started with the couple that came after us. The working waitress then came and took 2 other tables orders before the hostess came back to tell us it would just be a few minutes. I was highly irritated - it's not like I've been in here that often, and this is 2/2 that I've had a terrible time in the past year. I would have let it go, but even my boyfriend noticed. Not to mention his shake was filled with more ice than ice cream; the ice cream was so frozen, it had ice chips melting in the shake. He never complains, so the fact he brought it up really riled my temper. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING HERE. Period. I may try other Steak N Shakes, but I will not be returning to this location. I even saw the manager on duty there, so I'm not sure exactly what is going on there, but they seriously don't know how to provide BASIC DECENT SERVICE. To me, the food is not even worth the trip. Horrible customer service from the manager.. came here with my brother (who has an allergy issue with gluten) - he's extremely allergic. It causes rash, vomit, upset stomach, and so forth.... Anyway, we ordered milkshakes. Mine was the birthday cake and his was the vanilla... they switched the topping and brought us the wrong shakes so my brother drank about a quarter of the wrong shake before realizing the mistake. Our server was super nice and got her manager. However the manager was horrible, not apologetic AT ALL.. let us know that we were annoying him and continuously repeating "so what do you want me to do about it?"..... we just wanted him to listen, apologize, and fix the mistake. Slow, even considering your food is made to order. I dont expect fast service because of that but even when ordering shakes, it takes way longer than needed. The chili is greasy water with a few pebbles of meat and enough beans to count on one hand. The burgers are usually decent....unless the bun is hard. The chicken fingers are decent....unless super dried out. Basically, what I am getting at is the food is sketchy. There is a 60% chance of getting hardened, stale throwaway items. The price isn't ideal considering how the quality usually is. I stopped going a few months ago when my husband received hard, dry chicken fingers and my banana shake had clumps of powder. It just isn"t worth the wait time or money to eat at this location. No one in my family is a fan of the shoestring fries. Personally, I think the menu could use some new items. read more

We have visited this location quite a bit and have had pretty consistently good experiences. I would recommend going in, if you can, since the only problems we really had, was through the drive-thru. The breakfast options are quite surprisingly good and quite reasonably priced. I will normally go for a skillet which is around $6 and you get an adequate amount of food. The biscuits and gravy are decent, but nothing special. The normal dinner menu is also executed well and reasonably priced. The shakes are normally pretty good, but I have had some versions that weren't as good as you would expect. I would definitely go to this place in a pinch for a cheap reasonable meal. Only issue is when they get really busy they can have some long ticket times. read more
