They now (maybe always have but now have a big sign announcing it) use beef tallow for all their deep frying, and state use Waygu beef. This is the best Steak n Shake in the area and that's why I'm giving 5 stars. They go the extra mile to make sure everything is up to standards (temperature, substitutions). If it's not right, they fix it fast. The manager, Jacob, is very personable and made sure the orders were being taken care of so they could be finished for the estimated pick up time. I don't mind if the pick up time is longer if the order will be ready at that time and with good quality. They also went above and beyond to give my toddler a coloring page, crayons, foldable car, and hats while we waited. It made our week and our kid definitely has a new favorite restaurant! read more

I really don't come to steak in shake but I've been craving it lately. Came to this location and decided to dine in. Very different from what it used to be back in the day, in a good way though. You order at a kiosk and they have about 4.2 with cash/card options for payment and 2 with card only. Super easy and use friendly. Easy to customize your order as well. We sat ourselves and you clean up after yourself as well. Staff came out to deliver our food and he was very nice. The food was really good. We ordered 4 meals. Crispy fries, burgers were just right. We ordered 2 shakes, Birthday cake and oreo/m&m. My son said the birthday cake didn't taste the same as before but the oreo was good. Definitely coming back when I'm in the mood. The manager of this location is the type of person who should be running every single restaurant. As I was picking up my online order tonight, I witnessed him helping a handicapped elderly man not only stand, but get through the front doors, and even made sure he got to his car ok and had his food to take home. I was so impressed by his patience and kindness towards the man. Faith in humanity restored tonight at Steak 'n Shake! As someone who works with the elderly, I am so thankful for people like this man. I love Steak n Shake in general but this location is not one I would recommend. Went to get my condiments and both ketchup dispensers were absolutely filthy and there was an empty used shake cup on the counter. Most of the tables needed to be wiped down. This was at 4:30 p.m. so not enough business to justify the level of mess we saw. I'm guessing they have a staffing issue but still not an excuse. In all honesty, one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. I remember Steak n' Shake from years gone by and this was such a massive let down. There are no servers and they are seriously understaffed. We ordered 4 burgers, 4 fry's , & 3 shakes. One of the burgers was a "butter" burger and it came out with a cold hunk of butter laying on top- it was quite gross. One of the fries was a cheese fry and whoever put our food on the tray put one of the food baskets in the middle of the cheese fries. I threw them away because I couldn't trust that the baskets were clean. As for the shakes, I had to ask after them 3 times and we only got them after we were done with the whole meal. When I went to wash my hands, the sinks in the men's restroom were clogged with standing water. Horrible experience. I will never come back and I will let everyone I know not to come here. read more

My local Steak & Shake is great. The owner who purchased this location has done a great job in getting more workers and with the extra employees has significantly gets good turn around on orders. His business has gone up and he's not been hesitant regarding upping the staff accordingly. However those who are expecting turn around times like McD are in for a rude awaking. Orders are cooked fresh and not kept in warming trays. Steak & Shake drive iin service is never fast....and that's been the way it is ever since they opened their first drive in windows years ago. It's been a while since I have been to Steak n Shake. It's not one of my favorites but my husband likes it so we had it for dinner tonight. No wonder Steak n Shake is almost completely gone. Fries were warm and limp,pickle spears left much to be desired, not sure when the lettuce was purchased. Burger had no flavor. The condiments were the highlight of the experience. There were apparently two adult manager types present doing all the work and 3 boys playing around instead of helping. They were disrespectful to the adults working and rude to customers picking up orders. Dislike the fact that all orders are through an app or kiosk thing. Outside is trashy and parking lot needs work. Inside not much better. Don't know how this place stays in business. Even my husband said - never again. read more

Steak 'n shake used to be a nice place to go. Unfortunately, you can tell why they're on their last leg. When my family entered, there were to tables occupied. The host asked if we'd prefer a table or a booth. When I said I'd like a table, he said "we will have to clean one off for you." There were 4 people working in the dining room. Err, correction. There were 4 employees in the dining room. Strangely, only one waitress seemed to be taking orders and delivering food. I don't know what the other three were doing. They definitely could have been cleaning some tables. The wait for the food seemed pretty long considering the place was not busy. Maybe there were more customers going through the drive-thru. This steak n' shake location is the best around. I go there frequently for myself and for DoorDash deliveries. They get the orders ready in a timely manner. The workers acknowledge you when you enter,which is rare for restaurants I'm picking up from. In 50+ deliveries, I've only had one order that was incomplete. My wife and I went though the drive thru sat 3/18 2017. My wife got the fish sandwich meal and I got the double bacon with a chocolate shake... 20 min later we got to the window. I waited in the drive thru line for over 30 minutes because I was unable to order ahead or use a carhop spot. When I tried to, the app it said the location was closed. The location was clearly not closed. Once I finally got my food and got home I was missing both of my kid's meals! When I attempted to call the store no one would answer or the one time someone answered they immediately hung up. Once I got back to the location I had to got back through the drive thru and wait another 20 minutes for get the food they forgot to give me the first time. Once I made it to the window, I sat there for a few minutes before the manager, whom was extremely rude, came to the window and at that point had already forgotten I was in the line waiting. She gave me my missing food and without any apology what so ever. I also had notice while I was waiting the second time the man working the fryer was wearing his mask on his chin with his mouth and nose both exposed. When I pointed that out the the manager she closed the window on me and walked away! Had dinner tonight. Was so cold inside people were going to their car to put on jackets. This is normal. Customers were complaining and always do but Managers really don't care. They just say sorry and walk away. All three of our orders of french fries were room temperature. Baked beans were so cold they felt like they were straight out of a can. When they came back with another order of fries they were warm not hot. Remake of beans were microwaved I'm sure because they were very hot. Burgers were warm not hot.
