Steamboat BBQ is the best in the burbs and I would even say the city of Chicago. Smoked Wings! Burnt Ends! Pulled Pork! So good!

Love these folks. Burnt ends melt your mind. No need for sauces but they are great. Order ahead and enjoy.

Amazing bbq, by far the best we've had in the area. We used to live in the city and have tried many of the popular places, this lives up to all of it. My favorite is the pulled pork and Cajun dry rub wings!! Perfect for ordering for pickup, their dine in area is a little small but great for 4 people! Have already gone here twice in the last month after finding it just a few weeks ago. Reasonable and huge portions- sides are delicious. I've tried a few and my favorite is the potato salad. What can you say? The place needs to expand. Always lines out the door, even on weekdays. The smell puts you into a meat coma, and everything is outstanding. The smoked wings are soooo tender, but crispy, and the sides are fantastic. My only issue with this place is in the winter. When you're sitting down to eat, and someone opens the door to enter, the cold breeze rips through you. Small price to pay for truly outstanding bbq. read more

Pulled pork and sauce offerings were great. However, the servings were small portions. Look at the pics. Glorified Dixie Cup side servings. Out of cornbread at 5:30 PM was strange. Sides were bland. The "Bacon Potato Salad" was lacking bacon and flavor. Shrimp was frozen - coconut fried, nonsense. No one thanked me for my business or asked how my meal was. Not cool. The wings here are amazing !!! They are always my go to here at steamboat. Definitely a must try. Paired perfectly with their cornbread.

The Q is off the chart tried several things off the menu, burnt ends brisket sandwich was melt in your mouth yumminess!! awesome bacon potato salad and coleslaw, it's not on the menu but can be ordered "Fried Okra" coming from the south this made my meal complete. My bf had pick 3 with rib tips, pulled pork and shrimp with two sides fries and slaw, he couldn't finish everything, nice portions. Owner was very friendly and was making sure everyone dining was good and this says a lot about a place. The place was packed but evidently for a good reason, had to wait in line to order but wasn't long and well worth the wait. BYOB is also thumbs up with no fees. I will be back again very soon to try other things on the menu. If you pass this up, your loss, your missing out on some Great BBQ!! read more

Steamboat continues to rock my boat- err, world. Brisket inventory seems strong recently. I stopped in on a busy Friday lunch hour (barely noon and the place was full!) to satisfy my random pound of brisket urge. I decided to check out the mac and cheese bites for the first time as well. WHO HAS BEEN HIDING THIS FRIED CHEESY DELICIOUSNESS FROM ME UNTIL NOW??? The mac and cheese bites are nothing, in the grand scheme of things, without the brisket to back them up, but on a desert island, I could survive on these things for a while, need-be. If I had a solar-powered fryer I suppose. Continue to love these guys. Friendly staff & service. Great food in general, and, as always, undeniably awesome brisket. read more

Excellent place we had the trio with brisket and pulled chicken and burnt ends and the Southwest corn and the potato salad and the Carolina dressing and everything was beyond excellent. You couldn't sit indoor so you had to sit at one of the two tables Outdoors or get carry out. Will definitely come back here. read more

Really good bbq and catfish - it's legit! Pecan pie is good, too. Lots of folks in and out so it must be a local favorite. Yes, you will receive great bbq here. Have been going since we moved to Wheaton a couple of years ago. Well, today when placing an order I cannot believe how rudely I was treated on the phone. No matter how well you are doing in business you "Always" treat a customer with kindness and respect! I politely asked for my order to be repeated 1 time to make sure I had everything correct. The reply I received was "gheez!" as this was a total inconvenience for the person taking my order. Before I finished the call I reconfirmed our pick-up time of 5:15. Their different types of barbecued meats are so tasty. You can choose their sauce from 3 different types ranging from mild, sweet to HOT. So many people were there picking up orders at their pickup window. I asked some of them how they liked their ribs, etc and everyone couldn't say enough good things about this gem. I took it home and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. There was a large portion that I had to save for the next day. Their burnt ends were especially delicious. All the meat was very lean and have little if any fat like so many other restaurants have. The sides were large and good also. This is a real GEM. It is my forever Barbecue place from now on. Tried calling multiple times to secure a catering order for this Thursday. Nobody answered the phone, or returned my call. I left voicemails, I even visited the brick and mortar store to taste the food and speak with the manager regarding this exact catering order a few weeks ago. Super unfortunate that this small business missed out on a couple grand today because they can't answer the phone. Food is fantastic, customer service, not so much. We heard good things about the bbq here from friends. We went for dinner and we each bought a dinner w 2 meats each. We ordered 4 different meats total, and a basket of mac n cheese bites. Ladies and Gentleman. I have discovered a great place to eat near where my parents live and in the suburbs. Thank YOU Yelp for giving me the opportunity to discover Steamboat BBQ. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Steamboat BBQ is the best BBQ in the Chicagoland area. I've been to the heights of Smoque BBQ, the depths of Green Street Smoked Meats, but let me tell you, Steamboat BBQ might be the best of them all. I was floored as to how good this place was. First off, you're going to enter a narrow restaurant to order. Not many seats, definitely don't recommend coming here to dine in with a large group unless you can grab an outdoor table when it's not snowing and there's a negative wind chill. I decided to order 2 BBQ Dinner Combos (3 meat). Did I tell you I love meat? I absolutely do. I got the Ribs (1 limit), brisket, hot links and rip tips. The Brisket was surprisingly delicious. Very tender and soft. The ribs were personally my favorite. Cooked to perfection with the meat coming off the bone. I do have one tiny complaint that some pieces were burnt. Rib tips were good, drenched in their house BBQ sauce. Hot links were just average. Not the best hot links I ever had. However I must say, Steamboat's sides are delicious. Most BBQ places I have been to where it's been great the sides were lacking. But the sides here were absolutely delicious! That's why I'm giving this place 5 stars! Got the fried Mac and Cheese. My goodness. Delicious! Bacon potato salad. Delicious! Fries. Above average! Cole slaw. Not eating vegetables LOL. But the fried mac and cheese, potato salad and fries were very good. They were GREAT compliments to the BBQ. Overall: BBQ 4 stars. Sides 5 stars. Total 4.5 stars we will round it up to 5 stars to give the suburbs some love. Only downfall I would say is they don't give you free refills on the BBQ sauce. For your carryout orders they give you the cups to fill their BBQ sauce with. Several years ago, when I still lives in the Dirty 630, I went to Steamboat BBQ and had an absolutely sublime pulled pork sammich. So when I came back to visit, I knew I had to relive it. I got the brisket dinner with beer-battered onion rings and baked beans, and the brisket was super disappointing. It was dry, not very flavorful, and I almost had to grab a knife to cut off each bite. I had some of a different serving at the table and it was much more tender and juicy. It seems like I got the last serving before a new brisket made it out of the smoker, and it made me a lil sad The onion rings were decent, and the beans were unremarkable. The sauces, too, were okay and didn't taste very different from one another. There isn't much seating inside, and while that wasn't a problem on this frigid, snowy night, I can see it being an issue during the lunch and dinner rushes. Indeed, the last time I was there it was absolutely packed. Overall, I really really wish I could have relived my meat-flavored glory days of yore, but it was not to be. We are from Wichita Kansas and lots to choose from in the BBQ arena. While visiting relatives they talked about this place that rivaled Texas BBQ. We were not disappointed. Very large portions and great tasting meats. We had brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends and hot links. All were delicious!!! Potato salad and fries were great as well! This is a pretty authentic "soul food" type BBQ joint. The owner is a very friendly, energetic guy behind the counter. I think he has family that help him run the place. When we showed up, he was the only guy behind the counter and he was juggling order taking and food prep. The reinforcements showed up shortly after we placed our order. We ordered a rib/brisket combo and a brisket/hot link combo. The meats were tasty - brisket tender with nice burnt crust on some pieces, ribs were melt off the bone tender, hot links were thick and flavorful. Everything came slathered in sauce which is very sweet and very sticky. Kids shared a pulled pork sandwich, which as other reviews have offered, is more like a sloppy joe in consistency then shredded chunks of pork. Also comes dressed in the sauce. We ordered sweet potato fries which were far superior and worth the extra charge versus the standard white potato fries. As I alluded to service was pretty haphazard. I felt bad for the guy but he got our drink order wrong, he charged us for drinks that were included in the meal price, they forgot our order of sweet potato fries, and they botched one of our combo plates but fixed it promptly. Overall, I would repeat, but wouldn't go out of my way to get here again. read more

These folks catered my son's birthday party, and they knocked it out of the park. Family from out of town were so impressed and demolished the brisket and pulled pork, beans, corn and cornbread. The meats were the highlight of the show (as they should be), and particularly the brisket. It's tough to keep brisket moist, especially when preparing it in bulk and transporting it for catering, but they managed just that. Just melt in your mouth stuff. My date and I stopped here after spending the early afternoon at Cantigny Park, and I'm so glad we did. These guys really know how to throw some smoke onto meat, and they certainly did so onto the burnt ends sandwich I had. They were the best burnt ends I've had outside of my hometown of KC, with a very nice bark. The interior of the place is not fancy, but it's clean and well-maintained. They focus their attention on the meat, and it shows. My dining companion enjoyed her brisket sandwich and the sauces as well. I'd have to say this is my favorite BBQ place in the Chicago metro so far, but my sample size isn't that large yet. Keep up the good work, guys. read more
