I admittedly forgot to write this review after using Stear's services last summer to move into my new place in Pasadena, but I guess it worked out better for them because at the time I would have rated them with four stars. The reason I am giving them five now is because I just used a different local moving company to pack my apartment and load a truck I rented, and I was highly dissatisfied with the service. I won't name this business, but the work did not reflect the cost and I wouldn't recommend that business to anyone. Comparing it to my experience with Stear, I knew I had to sit down and write the review. In July of 2021 I hired two workers to pack my 1 bedroom apartment, load their own truck, unload the truck at my new apartment, AND they drove the truck over to the nearby Goodwill so I could drop off four pieces of large furniture that I was donating for no extra charge. It took a total of 6 hours (my new apartment was only a few streets from my old one), and cost $800 pre-tip. One of the guys definitely worked his ass off the entire time, but I saw the other guy on his phone many times and slowly packing items. My roommate said she saw him chilling downstairs over to the side, and when he saw her he pretended to be working. That was the reason I was going to knock them down a star. But again, comparing the amount of work they got done in the time they did, and at the price they did it, to that of the company I just used, I am locking in at five stars. On top of that, all items were wrapped well enough that nothing was broken in the move, nor was I worried about it. They also knew obvious things like "wrap glass in wrapping paper before packing" and "don't pack living plants in boxes". That is in stark contrast to my recent experience. Here's a breakdown so you can get an idea of the competition: Stear (2021): -hired to pack 1 bedroom apartment and move items to new apartment (0.3 miles away) -I had more items in this move -they drove to a second location so I could drop off some furniture to be donated -all boxes and wrapping materials included in rate -2 men -I hardly did any work -$800 total -6 hours total Company #2 (2022): -hired to pack 1 bedroom apartment and load truck I rented -I didn't have items to donate and I had less items in this move -my dad and I were helping by packing and organizing the entire time -charged per box, wrapping materials "included" but they didn't have wrapping paper for fragile items (they used mine from my last move) -3 men (plus my dad and me) -they only had to pack and load a truck, didn't have to drive it anywhere -$700 total (was going to give me a "discount" at $760, I was like no) -4 hours 50 minutes total read more

I consider myself a fair person, with that being said I am writing this review with that mindset. My tip would be to make sure it is understood what your needs are. Just because a person says yes, or we will take care of it, does not mean what you want is understood. Ask open ended questions to confirm they understood what your needs are. Overall, I have to give a 3.5 and this is due to my negligence of not being ready, set go when movers arrived. As much as I prepared to be organized, had all packed boxes, labeled, fragile, and had scan codes placed on boxes so when in storage I can just take a photo of the scan code and it will tell me what's in the box!! I had to keep turning boxes around so I can see the codes. Back to my negligence, I had a note on the wall for the movers, and 1 instruction had changed, but I verbally told both movers, upon arrival but did not update my wall note about the change and this caused a lot of Confusion. Movers did assist with packing , taping, and it was a long day 6.5hr which includes a 60+mile drive!! My grandma always said, if u don't have something nice to say, don't say nothing at all, so I am only focusing on the positive and my negligence, but I will say I don't like to be accused of things I am not guilty of doing. This was my third time using Stear because I've only had amazing experiences with the movers. Andrii and Alexey just helped me move from Los Angeles to Orange County and they could not have done a better job! I have a LOT of stuff/heavy furniture and my old building is not exactly mover-friendly with all the doors, stairs, etc., but these guys navigated it with ease and quickly came up with solutions while still moving fast. They helped me pack up all my fragile items and wrapped up all the furniture, carefully handling my stuff. They were also very nice and communicative. Will definitely continue to recommend Stear and use them again if I move again! read more

We reached out 3 weeks before our move from Rancho Cucamonga to Victorville and was responded to by Stear Moving who quoted us at a great rate. 3 movers showed up with boxes, packing materials early Friday morning and they were excellent packers and made sure everything was packed wrapped and safe for the trip, offloaded everything and went above and beyond to help us make the move smooth. Anton and Elijah came by right on time, and was very friendly, extremely professional, and capable! They were able to disassemble all my furniture in the family room, living room, master bed, and garage and fit it in the 8'x26' truck. What was even more impressive was their ability to compact that into a 10x13' storage unit by using their amazing Tetris level stacking abilities to compress it further. Highly recommend! read more

See the update below. The guys were nice, yet lacked efficiency. The company was quick to respond and get me scheduled in for a move. The move was a success, but I think it could have been done much quicker. The last company I used hustled, sometimes running. Stear however took their time getting 8 hours, plus double drive time out of us.Cost $1350 plus tip for three guys. Sometimes they stopped when they thought we were not looking. No item we're broken. Some items possibly over-wrapped. Was the third guy needed? No because it seemed them moved slower. I moved my place before with another company of two guys who got the job done 3/4th the time. Would I use them again, probably not. We're they bad? No. Just ok, not the type of profEssional movers I'm use to. Update: They put my adjustable bed together. 2 days later, it completely fell apart inverting into a "V" shape, bending the legs on the bed. They missed fully screwing in the center supports. These guys were great. Dealt with Ivan and Jacob. I had to move a heavy, expensive ceramic table imported from Italy, up 3 stories from the garage to an upstairs deck. They planned that out well, and took all necessary precautions to move the table up without damage. Next was the problem of moving an old sofa from the 4th floor down to the curb. I was stumped because it wouldnt fit down the spiral stair nor would it fit down the elevator. THey used their experience and knowledge to strap it and lower it down 40ft to the front of the house. Finally they moved some old heavy pots around the house, which probably was the most grit work. Ha ha. Great job. Efficient in their execution. Would def go back again. read more

I used Stear Moving Company early this week to move from one 1-bedroom apartment to another 1-bedroom apartment. They were on time and very friendly and easy to talk to once they were there. I liked that while they were careful with my items to make sure they were not damaged they also moved quickly. They would ask before taking a break, which in this weather and the amount work they were doing was 100% okay. They were professional and upfront about the services and charges and we went over the paperwork together. All the furniture they wrapped with moving blankets and shrink wrap and tape to keep it from being damaged and even other items they would wrap just to be safe. When we arrived at the new apartment the furniture took some time because of the stairs but after that they loaded all the boxes into the apartment very quickly and I was incredibly happy with their services and would highly recommend! I had gotten quotes from other companies and they had extra fees for first and last of the month and weekends and all other kinds of things, this pricing I felt was fair and especially for the quality of work they provided. read more

This was a pretty good experience. The movers they sent us worked hard and got the job done. They worked pretty quickly and we really appreciated that they didn't charge more for a Friday move. Unfortunately, somehow between our old place and our new place (less than 5 miles) our ottoman got a pretty large grease stain on it. First time using a moving company and after todays experience I'll always hire a moving company if I ever move again....I literally didn't have one single thing packed this morning...not a sock or a fork or a toothbrush or anything....they showed up EXACTLY at 8am (even though the they said between 8-9)...I gave them a quick heads up that I'm sorry but work kept me from packing anything and they basically said "ok no problem let's get started"....they, no joke, went thru all my cabinets and closets and everything and packed for me...filled up and taped many many boxes, disassembled tables, beds, entertainment center, etc and reassembled all the above at the new place! When you get movers there are so many things you fear: That they won't show That they'll be damage your space or your things That they milk that hourly rate by moving slowly None of that happens with Stear. So many thing to praise them for: on time arrival, creative and thoughtful approach to navigating tight spaces, carefully wrapping and handling everything single thing, super fast and efficient service, and great communication all the way through the process. This is my second time using them and they were even better than the first. I had Ivan again and he is not only honest and professional, he is kind. He put my most comfortable chair on the truck last so I'd have some place to post up during the move. Funny story: As they were unloading the truck a quarter fell out of a rolled up rug. I can't recommend this company highly enough. Hotin, Jenya, and Mark were professional, right on time, moved quickly, took excellent care of our stuff, and the price was right. They showed up about 5 minutes early and had the truck in position and ready to go right on time. The truck itself was large and clean and had more than enough space to move our 2 bedroom apartment. They began by reviewing the pricing and then walked around with us so we could show them what to take, what to leave, and what needed special care. They wrapped furniture in blankets, and shrink-wrapped our odd shaped items, like the cat tree. They had no problem taking items like milk crates full of cleaning supplies, even though the containers didn't have lids - they just shrink wrapped anything that was loose or unsecured. There was nothing they couldn't find a way to pack, and pack safely. These guys work quickly. There was no standing around or slow walking like with the previous company we hired. They were all in great shape and nothing was too heavy or awkward for them to manage. Once at our new place they quickly unpacked and unwrapped everything. There wasn't a single item with a scratch - not our furniture, nor the walls and doors of our new place, and nothing was broken or damaged. When they were all done they calculated the cost and it was exactly as expected. No hidden charges. I would definitely use Stear Moving again. read more

I just hired Stear Moving Company this past Wednesday. SO GLAD I DID! The two movers who came were so nice. They had to climb multiple flights of stairs to remove everything, yet did it in record speed. They were very careful with all of our belongings. They worked for 4 hours straight. What really impressed me was he pieces they couldn't fit through the door - they disassembled and rebuilt at our new location. Timely and very efficient workers. Everything was already packed and ready to go, but the guys reinforced the boxes with extra tape. Furniture was wrapped in plastic and blankets and handle with care. Because they had to stop an our storage facility on the way to the new house and return for a few more items, the move was a full day. My brother had a dresser for over 40 years that was an antique and he called Stear Moving for me to get a quote after several other companies refused to move just one piece of furniture. They had a very reasonable quote so we hired them. The day the furniture was to picked up, they kept in communication with me the entire time, and delivered it in perfect condition. They were very kind, clean and efficient in their dealings with me. Afterwards I called my brother to tell him how good they were, and he said he was very impressed with how they prepared the furniture for moving, and how they were able to carry the heavy piece down his long staircase without a problem.
