I've heard great…read morethings about them from friends - hot mulled wine, street food, seasonal gifts, a warm atmosphere - and so it was awesome to be able to visit my very first European Christmas market in Düsseldorf! This is a smaller market (the one I went to later in Strasbourg is huge) with a half dozen or so kiosks surrounding a large Christmas tree. As is the custom in modern times, there are concrete bollards around to prevent vehicles from doing something stupid. There is also a clear eingang and ausgang with security. And new for 2021, the security officers are checking COVID status. I was able to get in with my passport and CDC card, others were displaying the COVID QR code on their phones.
