You're going see nudity, in a creepy, not beautiful way, but somehow your eyes can't turn away. Cesky Krumlov is a small town, and on the outside this Art institute looked equally small...but its actually very large inside! The building is shockingly large inside, with 3 stories packed with art! Again, this isn't your typical art museum...be prepared to be shocked, wowed, disgusted, impressed, baffled, and mind blown. Those original early 20th century German Expressionists had some very unique perspectives on life. First of all: this is a beautiiful building: it is quite simple, with plastered white walls and white vaults and old wooden doors and staircases. I would already go for the building alone, but each time I get pleasantly surprised by some exhibition of someone I had never heard of. This time, there was an exhibition of Matisse cuttings (Jazz and yes, I did know him - what did you think?). But there was also an exquisite exhibition from a German painter and glass artist I had never heard of: Erwin Eisch. His paintings did look somewhat fauvist - although what does this say? It also reminded me of Chagall. I cannot even start to explain his glasswork - I had never seen anything like it, and I won't try. I humbly wish I had the money to buy one of these beautiful pieces..

I came here and didn't quite understand what it was. We thought it was a store that sold vintage…read morebeer signs and souvenirs, based on the display window facing the street, but turns out it just a place that displays them... and other vintage housewares. You know, like a real museum. I know the sign says 'Muzeum', but you'd be surprised at how many places we walked in that weren't what their sign. Delis that were cafes. Apartments that were hotels. Trains that said they were going to specific destination at a specific time but then just decided they weren't going to anymore and that you can just shove your travel plans up your ass. Welcome to the Czech Republic... where nothing is as it seems. The place is small for the size that you'd expect a museum to be, but it's free and I cant' argue with that. If it's free, it's probably for me. Inside the layout is long, rectangular, and divided into 2 or 3 different open rooms, all displaying different vintage wares. One room had old, empty liquor bottles, the front is largely old beer signs, there was a display case with lots of different old-timey scales, lots of old type-writers, and quite a few retail furnishings from back in the day. There were a number of what would be considered racially insensitive signs advertising coconuts... or at least that's what we roughly translated it to, but I think because they're for historical purposes in a museum and obviously not the crown jewel of any display, that it's alright in a -- 'whoa, I can't believe anyone ever thought was okay.' sort of way. In the end, the place is free and the guy who runs the place is nice and smile-y. It's not a destination spot, and if you miss heading here it won't break your day, but it's a fine place to spend 3-7 minutes, and that's literally all the time you need to see everything.

There is a TL;DR/Summary at the end…read more Somehow, I was expecting this place to be much shinier from the outside. The day was rather drab when I went, and the building didn't look particularly exciting either. Even as the day cleared up, the building did not become much shinier. It does look rather cool at night though. Went here with a group (guided tour) and was therefore not able to see the whole facility. I was, however, able to see the main exhibit and the deep space theater. --- Deep Space is cool in that they project on the floor and on the wall, and they do so in 8K resolution (with 3D projection onto the wall). However, I was unfortunately not particularity impressed with this "theater". First, since people are sitting on the floor, it seems the whole purpose of floor projection is at least partially defeated. Also, with the screen being flat, you do not get a fully immersive experience. Don't get me wrong, it was still wicked cool, and immersive enough that when I was watching the sports videos they were showing, my body was rocking a bit side to side as if to make adjustments (move my body) in the actual sport. Main exhibit was really cool in that they are demoing, or at least have examples of the lastest and greatest technology. Some of it is just really cool, like the exhibit where ricking your head side to side produces an image of an eye (you will see), some that is revolutionary in entertainment, medicine, IoT, or others. For instance, they had 3D printers, eye tracking, a robotic animal designed to keep people company who are in the hospital (especially those who are suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's). They also had lamps with personality, and virtual reality headsets. Two other exhibits I saw were simply informative. In one they discuss that many ways Facebook uses your information (you will want to delete it afterward), and one where you send a text to a number, it is printed and instantly shredded. However, it makes the comment that still, that text is stored on a node somewhere that it passed through before printing and shredding. I was expecting more interactive exhibits, or, rather more staff staffing the interactive exhibits. ---------- TL;DR/Summary: This is a museum of "technological" art. But, art that is not just for self-expression, but for changing the world!!!!! This place shines most on the inside. You will not find ancient technologies, or paintings, or yesterday's news. You will get to experience the latest and greatest in technology that is changing the world. You will get to interact with robots, see how accessible the world is/will be for those with disabilities, see the early stages of groundbreaking medical devices/achievements. You will see how technology in use right now is shaping your personal world (like Facebook's data usage)
