Midwestern career college is a great place. I recently had a chance to visit its campuses and learn…read moreabout its programs. It is amazing how it is the only college in Chicago that has a Surgical Technology and EEG Tech programs. The retention and graduation rates well exceed those of its competitors, including community colleges. The staff and faculty take pride in serving their students and enabling them to begin their careers in healthcare, and now in IT and business. It's definitely a great value proposition for this who thing the traditional college is not the right path for them.

I completed the 10 week part-time digital marketing course. Of the roughly 14 students in the course, a total of 5 of us launched similar complaints to the Chicago office staff. They did very little to resolve the situation and were very patronizing. CONS & one PRO: · The breadth of the content was just not there - two hours per night twice a week to cover topics ranging from SEM, SEO to content marketing and paid search was not enough; while the instructor did a nice job of providing an overview, I feel strongly that I didn't walk away an expert in any of the topics let alone one. Mobile WAS NOT covered at all. · Access to data & a client should be provided by GA. For the first two weeks, I had no connections to a customer's analytics or owned channels, and it made learning incredibly challenging. Several students in the class did not have access to analytics or owned channels throughout the course and it made learning that much more difficult. GA certainly must be well connected in the tech/start up scene, and I imagine there are plenty of small organizations, even non-profits, that GA could build relationships with to connect students. As a full-time working professional, it was hard enough to get the coursework done...let alone try to convince an organization to give you access to their google analytics or owned media. As you are probably aware, without these key insights, it would be very hard to be successful in the classroom. · Instruction - while she is no doubt incredibly talented in her own right, I feel like this course was not her priority. There were several questions that my classmates and I asked that she could not answer. I would imagine that is due to the demanding and changing landscape of the field. Feedback was given sporadically, and the fact that we don't receive feedback from our direct professor on the final project that many of us spent so much time on is astounding. I know I spent upwards of 40 hours on my final project, and the rubric provided by judges didn't justify the amount of time or effort I put into the project. · Cost - I would have been perfectly happy with the course as an intro to digital marketing course if it were at the $1,500 or even $2,000 price point. I feel strongly that the $3,995 fee is far too much for the value of the course and key learnings provided. Again, I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn - and know that you get out of a course as much as you put into it, but I wanted to bring my main concerns to your attention. Finally, a couple overall notes that I definitely think need to be addressed for the next round of students: Our final class went over by 2 hours due to the amount of presentations that were required. It's truly a shame as one of the judges had to leave at 9 pm, so several of my classmates didn't get a full review. It's outrageous and poor planning to think you could accommodate 13 ten-minute presentations into a 120 minute course. Obviously, there would need to be time for questions, set up and breaks. Again, the content of the course was just a breeze over - I definitely think there's opportunity for an in-depth overview of digital marketing, but I feel strongly that I did not get anywhere close to an in-depth overview. The most beneficial part of the course was the opportunity to learn from my peers.

I had a bit of a learning curve with the laptop in addition to the class. I was informed of needing to bring my own computer by an email sent out at 8am the day of the class. I didn't notice it till I was out the door already :( Other than the communication about the laptop I did enjoy it.

I can't recommend Computer Training Source (CTS) enough. After getting my WIOA grant, I researched…read moreseveral schools and reached out to a bunch, but CTS really stood out because they genuinely care and are so responsive. The teachers are top-notch, and the practice materials and exams are incredibly helpful, and all those virtual labs to clear concepts giving you a hands on experience was super helpful. I passed Comptia A+, Security+, and Network+ with them, and Patrick and Peter were amazing always there to answer my questions and clear up any confusion. They're super friendly and always give you all the info you need. Plus, having the option for both online and in-person classes made it so much more convenient. On top of all that, CTS helped me polish my resume, shared legit job leads based on the courses I took, and kept me in the loop about upcoming job fairs. Choosing CTS was one of the best decisions I've made. everything was great.

I've been working with Chicago Excel classes for about a year and would say of the excel companies…read morethey are the BEST! The instructor Kevin is patient and really smart and he's an expert in data, data analysis as well an expert in excel. He provides several ways to arrive at an answer and allows you to practice what you've learned. I've worked with Chicago Excel for over a year and each time I request either private tutoring or in a classroom, I have been able to apply the knowledge immediately. Take this class you won't be disappointed!

PRICING: I took DBC classes through Chicago Portfolio School, so my classes were discounted as a…read morepart of tuition. I took an introductory class for photoshop, illustrator, and Indesign. Then came back and took a class for advanced photoshop. Each class was $300, but I believe it's considerably more if you are coming from outside of the CPS program PACING: I had never touched any of this software before this school, so there was a huge learning curve for me. But the pacing of the class as well as the more laid back structure made for easy learning. If I had a question, I could expect the instructor to stop what he or she was doing in order to assist. Of course, this same stop-and-help policy is true for everyone. So if you are a photoshop whiz, you might find the constant questions and reviews to be annoying. Luckily, that wasn't me. RESULTS: I consider myself to be very proficient in photoshop now, and it's certainly something I owe to the class, because I do not learn well in online platforms.

My digital bootcamp experience (Adobe Creative Suite) was as-I-expected throughout the course for…read morethe most part. The instructor was new, but nice. There was very little structure to the work that we did in the class which made it kind of difficult to keep up. I was okay with that though because they had a policy in which you could retake the course again if you didn't retain enough. I was 90% sure I was going to want to do that and that is why I chose DB. This is where I have a problem. Upon conclusion of the course, I requested to be informed of when the course would be retaught, but never heard back. I reached out twice over a six month period. I recently reached out again and they said that a) the policy has changed; and b) i was past my retake timeframe. They offered for me to pay 50% to take it again. What a bait and switch. I learned very little for the time and expense. I do not recommend Digital Bootcamp.

First, to address the two other reviews. The person I spoke to accurately quoted starting salaries in the field in the range of 38,000 give or take. Secondly, I was under no pressure to sign today. In fact I was encouraged to check out other schools before I made a decision. Lastly, in regards to tuition, their price seems right on track. It's a 32 week program so it's the equivalent of two semesters. The price is about 75% of the cost of two semesters at a fairly low priced university such as UIC. Granted, this is just for certifications but I still feel like it's a good deal. All in all I had a great experience. I had talked to someone over the phone several times and decided to go down today to check the place out. I expected a normal sales pitch and some pressure to make a commitment. That didn't happen at all. I was given information, encouraged to ask questions and encouraged to take all of this information and compare it to other places. I was informed they have classes starting all the time and being a small school they process things quickly so I wouldn't have to worry about getting paperwork in months in advance. All in all, not sure if it's a fit for me yet but it's definitely a place I'll consider and my time there today left a very good impression!

I was…read morescheduled for an 0830am skills class and was waiting for 45 minutes only to be told the class was cancelled. I took the online lecture portion already so I have to take skills in person to receive my BLS provider card. However, once I was rescheduled, they changed my date without asking me if I was available. The customer service rep over email does not even try to understand what I'm trying to tell them. It's beyond frustrating and unprofessional because I can't speak to anyone on the phone. My card expires by the end of the month and they're not allowing me to refund the first online class I took even though their scheduling is so messed up. They were basically having me pay $150 for an online plus in person skills. Another lady I was with while waiting for nothing at the location said she was rescheduled 5 times. 5 times is ridiculous! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. HORRIBLE SERVICE and will cancel without notice!!!
