The presence of the fruits of God's loving spirit is spread all across this Church. I was very impressed with the many opportunities that are in place to help with your spiritual practices, growth, relationships, and faith. There are many ongoing classes and programs set up for all age groups from childhood to adulthood during the week. It was also a delight for me to be able to worship in a very diverse environment which is not easy to find. Diversity is certainly in Heaven and it should be in God's house of worship on this Earth. Which is how God created his people. Pastor Micah does an excellent job of explaining the scriptures and speaking on behalf of our Father in Heaven. The worship and praise music was perfect. We've lived in WF since 2006 and have gone to a local church for years but it has become a bit too large for us, so we wanted to find a smaller church. Being a catholic and an Episcopalian (me and hubby respectively), we've decided we just want a church that is welcoming and has a good message. We decided to give Hope Lutheran a try as we loved the message, the similarities to our churches growing up and of course, our history with the school. The church itself is beautiful, the ushers were very welcoming to us visitors and overall the feeling was very warm. We went to the Saturday night 5:30 service which is the more casual service. We enjoyed the pastor's sermon very much and the general family-friendly feel. We plan on visiting again and maybe Hope Lutheran will become our new church home!

Although it's a large congregation, the pastors are quick to learn the names of newcomers. The congregation is caring and welcoming with a desire to serve others through love and hospitality. Children and young families are a central focus for the work of the church, yet, even old folks like me feel cherished. I LOVE the worship and service here each Sunday. By the time you pull into the parking lot you feel welcomed. There are people to guide you along the way if it's your first visit. Each sermon gives me something new to think about; I always leave feeling moved. Most sermons are broadcasted from another Elevation campus but it doesn't take away the feeling of being right there. Everyone I've come across has been so kind and so friendly here. It makes me want to keep coming back. What a great start to each week. For years, I felt it would not be fair to review this church because I had left with a sour taste in my mouth about 7 years ago, but after returning today, I felt better prepared and less biased to be able to write a review. The pros: Pastor Mike preaches the truth and does it at a level every layman can understand. He may preach some very unpopular things, but the reality is, his preaching (that which I have heard) is Biblically sound. Diversity - everyone is welcome here (as opposed to some of the other local Baptist Churches). Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Divorced, Married, Single, young, middle aged, older - it doesn't matter Unpretentious - come as you are and the church works with what they have. Grace is preached here - salvation by grace and faith, not some farce about "If you do good enough and work hard enough at it, you might get to heaven" The cons: it's a Baptist church that errs on the side of legalism. Legalism is rules. While the "Baptist" church preaches grace, it still seems to require a number of rules to be followed. When I first attended here roughly 9 years ago, in appearance, this was a non-denominational church, and my bride and I were looking specifically for non-denominational. We did not find out PLCC was Baptist until we attended the membership class several months later. That started to raise a number of questions for us at that time. I see PLCC now advertises themselves as Baptist. Upon arriving today, I was greeted at the door by a couple of folks, but the greeting seemed a bit frosty - almost as though I should turn around and go somewhere else. I guess I don't blame some folks for feeling that way toward me after I left the way I did 7 years back. I do have a few friends here, and they understood my leaving when and how I did, but some of the others, like I said, it seemed like a rather frosty reception when I walked in the door. With all of that said, it's a decent place to worship if one is looking for a Baptist Church with a congregation and pastor that care about the community and each other. I cannot say I am a four star fan or that it's five star as good as it gets for me, but I certainly think it's an okay place to worship and learn the truth about God.

We had no clue what church we were visiting. Most early services were already over, and we were…read moreliterally driving around hoping to find a place to visit that started before 11am. We did a Google search for churches in Fuquay and Holly Springs, and found Carolina Chapel. We headed over to their 10am service with no idea of what to expect. Their temporary location is in the Apex Banquet Hall - 1402 East Williams Street at US1 and 55. Their website said 'come as you are', and when we got there, we were warmly greeted by several church members. They have a separate children's church for very young children, though youth members also attended the main service. The church is young and small - only a year old - and the congregation was diverse and laid back. The church is led by Pastor Ryan Moon. He is a musician and singer as well, and opened the service by leading a contemporary Christian band - keyboard, drums, bass, semi-acoustic guitar. The music was very good, just a bit too loud due to the acoustics of their current location - very low ceilings, etc. The service consisted of music, interspersed with prayer and scripture, and sermon. The sermon was Part 2 of a series focusing on loving your life now. He opened the sermon with a comedy video clip to start - didn't quite tie in directly, but the sermon was first-rate. He was very well prepared, referring to notes only occasionally. He incorporated scripture throughout his sermon, and was able to put passages in layman's terms without talking down to the congregation. He was dynamic and and spoke from life experiences, projecting honesty and sincerity. When the service was over - it lasted about an hour and a half - Pastor Ryan took the time to welcome us, while the congregation put together a low-key pot luck lunch. We had a very positive experience at Carolina Chapel, and don't doubt the church will continue to grow, particularly once they settle into their permanent location in Holly Springs. Non-Denominational? Yes Dress: Casual, come as you are Type of Service: Contemporary, Charismatic, Music- and Message-Driven Multiple Services? Not yet - 10am only, with separate Children's Church available Communion? Monthly at present Diverse? Yes LGBT Friendly? I told my bride not to fret, I'd grown up in a Baptist church so it couldn't be that bad and this church was touted to having one of the best pre-school programs in the area - so much so they could get away with charging people just to get on a waiting list. Typically I'll give a place a handful of visits before making a final decision on whether or not it's going to be my home church. Not this time. Our experience at this particular church is/was very limited - with maybe two or three exceptions this is one of those churches where the congregation were so unfriendly and so seemed to have their noses in the air and so did not seem genuine that we could not, in good conscience, go back. I had to ask myself if the congregation was really having that bad of a day. It would literally take the Lord picking me up off the ground against my will and shoving me through the door and holding me down in the pew for me to attend here on any given Sunday. The unfriendly atmosphere itself was such that I couldn't tell you what was preached from the pulpit. Lastly, if there was any diversity in the congregation, it went unnoticed. I grew up in the north where the Baptist church was very different than it is here in the bible belt and I hope this particular congregation does not personify the entire Southern Baptist Convention. Please, it's just my honest opinion, so no need to send rioters with pitchforks to my house.
