As new elements or techniques are added, he focuses on ways to learn them without being overwhelmed and to make it manageable. If I need to miss a lesson for any reason, Damon offers the chance to switch to an upload lesson, where I am able to make a video of what I am working on, and he responds with a video. These video responses are gems where he might go deeper into how I can work to improve my technique or understanding of the thing I am working on. Beyond the music, Damon has also taught me a ton about guitars, pedals, and amps, and is an incredible font of knowledge in the quest for tone. As a music teacher myself I've…read morehad the chance to visit both the Moraga location here as well as the SF location, and both are more than up to snuff when it comes to what they bring to their students, teachers, and community. The location is beautiful and the space is just lovely, and I was told it'd be opening up even more room to teach more students in just a month or so! The vibe is serene (and there's lots of good parking!), and the teachers are all clearly as excited as their students to bring their love of music and education to the table ever since this place opened in January. I believe in such an attitude, and feel it's one of the paramount traits to have to help spur both children and adults alike into finding their own love of music and learning within themselves. Having been a music teacher myself for the past 15+/- years, it put a huge smile on my face to also learn that this is currently the only music school in Moraga; to think, they're bringing more of this joy that I share to more places out there that could definitely benefit from it! Absolutely wonderful. There is such variety in what one could learn here (from classical to rock) and I see all of the best reasons to give them a go, especially that the teachers and staff are so ready to make their place here in the Moraga area. He was super encouraging and I really enjoyed taking lessons under him... too bad I'm graduating this year and had to discontinue. I think the repairs on this place are nice but a bit slow. Jason does great work and makes sure that everything is in working order but it takes a long time. My only negative experience with this place: I took my clarinet in for repair. They gave me an estimated date of a week. I called them around the 5-day mark to ask if it was ready and they told me an extra 2-days (as expected). I ended up being busy at that time so I couldn't check-in on the one week mark. When I went in to visit though, they said that it would need another week. Overall though, I really like this place! It's local and the people inside are friendly. They do charge a premium on reeds though.... ordering online is better.
