Watches of Switzerland is a very swish shop indeed, I'm not really into designer watches but I did…read moreget a nice understated Rotary watch for my 21st birthday which is very pretty and I feel happy knowing that it's such a good quality watch. I still just wear my old Hello Kitty watch though as at if i break or lose it, it's not the end of the world. My little Rotary doesn't seem to compete with the big guns in here though and they stock an extensive range of Chanel, Breitling and Rolex just to name a few. If I was into watched I know that this is the place I would go and in addition to selling watches they also offer a repairs and battery replacement service. You can also get watches engraved here so ideal if you're getting a watch to commemorate a special occasion or as a special present for someone.

I'm not really a watch person because I hate the thought of having to wear the same thing on my wrist every day regardless of what outfit you're wearing. Weird I know. So I was in this store purely for a nosey (me? Nosey?) and I saw some really gorgeous time peices that even I would wear on my wrist day in, day out. These watches are for the rich or for a one off, special occasion like a 21st because they really are pricey. Designer makes like Chanel are stocked which gives you an idea about the price. I absolutely love the white Chanel chunky wristwatch, but at around £3000 plus I doubt Santa will be bringing me it this year!

He suggested sending it off to Casio to see if they could work the magic required, and warned me that the parts could be expensive if they were able to fix it. I got a call a little over a week later with an update - they couldn't fix it. Bummer! I popped in to collect it, and even though Robert had spent a lot of time helping me, and trying to fix my watch, he insisted there was no charge. Brilliant communication together with warm and friendly customer service meant that even though I was pretty upset my watch couldn't be fixed, I left with a huge smile on my face. I couldn't recommend Stevenson's any more.

Not that it looks rough, or that the diamonds in the shop window are exactly hidden - this place blings from blocks away! There is a wide range of jewellery on display in the windows, from potential engagement rings to more simple and elegant designer necklaces. There are a lot of older fashioned styles available in Stevenson's if that's what you're looking for. Bear in mind, however, that they also stock an impressive range of more contemporary designs, including Pilgrim and Rennie Mack (my favourites). They also sell Hot Diamonds which make lovely gifts on special occasions such as 18th and 21st birthdays. Hot Diamonds are very subtle in deisgn, and elegant without being stuffy. On the contrary, they are very modern and unique in design, much akin to fellow big names such as Links of London. So I guess what I'm trying to say is there is something for everyone in here, and with Stevenson's stocking many different styles of jewellery, you won't be hard pushed to find something you like in here.

The boutique may be wee, but it's full of glass cabinets of jewellery joy, with many trendsome brand names, such as Juicy Couture, Lulu Guinness, Mont Blanc and Cruz. The jewels in here definitely have a fun edge to them, and are certainly fashionable, so this is a good option for browsing when you want something that's less high street trinket, and more quality fashion jewellery that you can wear over and over without worrying about it falling to pieces. There are still more expensive, special occasion items to be found here, like the Gucci watches, and as watches go, I'm quite a fan of the Juicy Couture cream numbers that Laing also stock. They've recently brought in a range of Mancini rings, which are excellent, because you just buy whichever band you want from the range, and they're all really reasonably priced, then you can keep coming back and buying different colours of stones to team with the band, as they're detachable. Great for fickle minded people like me, who get bored of the same colour after a few days.
