I work in the One Detroit the building where they have the Bistro cafeteria. I frequent the Bistro weekly and today I purchase a create your own salad that I purchase at least twice a week. Well.....today after my salad was created I went to the registrar to complete my purchase and was told by the cashier that because I have croutons on the side and not actually on my salad that they would need to charge me extra. Please note: (The Create your Own Salad does not have a limitation on the amount of toppings you can have.......No additional cost) the reason I request my croutons on the side is to make sure they are not soggy. The associate then went to get their manager which came over with out greeting me or apologizing for the inconvenience......I have spent $100's if not thousands of dollars of the last 3 years but the fact that a company could be so petty......I WILL RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE PATRONIZES A BUSINESS LIKE THIS......THEY WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER RED CENT FROM ME. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL LOOSE THEIR CONTRACT......This is not the first time I have experience inconstancy there......I'M DONE!!! read more

Sterling Services has been a long time provider to our company, but recently things started to head south with their service. When our company gave them 30 days notice to remove their machines they refused. The decision had been made to go with a new service that had lower pricing, better variety, better service and the equipment had new technology that was requested by our employees. Our company has refused to let them in to fill their vending machines. The have given us a date that is over 3 weeks away after the initial 30 day notice was provided to Sterling. Be careful if you select this company, you many be forced to deal that old stereotypical vending company image where they strong arm you or force their services on your employees. P.S. There was no contract in place with Sterling either, we were considerate with 30 days notice. read more

Sterling services provides lunch, breakfast, and event catering to the company i work for. Big big warning if you are considering using their services--they can not and should not provide food to anyone with allergies or celiac (gluten free) disease. When my employer realized i was leaving everyday for lunch after they hired them who claimed to be able to provide this they tried to work out something for me with the chef. The chef claimed to cook meals gluten free for her gluten free friend all the time. My guess at this point is that that friend was a fad dieter and didn't have a built in gluten detection system like a celiac or real allergy does. She has a large ego and was impatient with my questions, claimed to be trained on this even though every restaurant does and it amounts to crap. I asked what things she served were actually labeled gluten free because i wanted an idea if she was deciphering ingredients labels or if she actually verified her ingredients safe to call gluten free. She said nothing was labeled as such but she knew what she was looking for. Needless to say within three days of eating down there i wasnt just sick. It was the worst glutening ive had by a restaurant in ten years. I missed two days of work because of it. I got deathly ill if i had a peanut or shellfish allergy id be dead. When i came back i was told she had no idea what went wrong and she had no confidence i could eat safely there....but yet they still advertise the gf option. I ordered a blt as i knew to start simple because i was already suspicious as she wasnt listening and dint seem knowledgable. Likely was the bacon (spices or unclean microwave or grill) or mayonnaise where if it isnt verified very well could contain it (malt or in the absence of a gf label natural flavors). Or someone didnt wipe the counter it was prepared on, didnt switch gloves, or took the ingredients out of a bin previously dug into that touched normal bread. Hand to bin to bread to bin resulting in contamination for me. Real well trained let me tell ya. Its sad, but in all of michigan in comparison to so many places ive ate at...other than olive garden my workplace is actually the most dangerous for me. Ive been gf 11 years, im not a newbie to this.
