I was recently gifted a set of golf clubs from my nephew.  And I haven't golfed in like 30 years,…read morebut that fact didn't deter him from gifting it to me, lol.   Well, if and before I hit up any golf courses, I first need to hit up a driving range, and so here I am on this day, and there will be need for more sessions lol.   This facility has a nice driving range setup.  I really don't know if it's tip-top state of the art, but it's plenty good.  They actually have 4 separate driving ranges.  3 of them are built into the back of their main building and on 3 separate levels - their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors actually.   The bays in these ranges used to have member card readers, but these were recently replaced with keypads that use a registered user online account to charge your prepaid account for the number of balls hit. Each bay has automated ball and tee dispensers which is quite nice, and it's like being spoon-fed your tee shots!  The 4th station is in a grass area where you can hit naturally off the grass.  The current cost is 21.8 cents per ball on the grass.  On the driving range bays, it's 13.0 cents per ball for seniors.  It's a high tech and convenient operation here and their driving range ball rates seem reasonable, so it's a big thumbs up from me and the facility certainly met my needs.

And upstairs is no good because you hit the sides of the wall if you are at the ends. But it is the next best thing to golf in the winter. There is a dome in bensonville but its much farther. And desplains golf center and top golf are year round also. But its not fully covered like the dome. So if it rains or snows its not all covered. I was getting hit by the rain at desplains because the partial covered roof does not extend enough. And its only 12 dollars for half and hour or 11 dollars before 6pm.

I will be honest, I was a little apprehensive when I signed up for my first lesson, thinking I was going to get nothing out of it and that it was a waste of money. Immediately walking into the facility, it is state of the art with numerous TRACKMAN hitting bays, putting green, club fitting/building station and the coolest instructor that greeted me immediately with a smile. I knew I was at the right place. I have been playing for 7 years and had a -6 degree club path causing me to have strong fades/slices. The FIRST shot after doing one of his swing thoughts and drills, Brad got me to positive swing path territory and hitting draws... something I have never done. It is also helpful that he has video swing analysis with vectors indicating how your swing is in relation to what is proper. I highly recommend Brad and this facility, and will be back.

There is one ramp from the one side of the building, but I'm not totally sure the parking on that side is related to the country club and it's not super close for folks who might need the accessibility accommodations to being with. I've only been to a country club once, so perhaps it's exactly what it's supposed to be, but this seemed to just be a golf course and then their clubhouse, which has a pro shop and I'm not sure if they have anything in there when there's not an event. That's where the event I attended was held. The sound is not good, and I'm not sure if that's due to the sound system or because we were a bit further in the back of the clubhouse on the other side of the bar, with the bar in the way. But we could barely hear a thing when they were using the mics, so it's something to keep in mind if you plan your event here.

Lots of towers, climbers, music, slides and swings, and one playground even has a sandbox. The biggest downsides to this park is that's its wood chips and there's limited shade. There are some sunshades, mainly over the benches surrounding the playground, but the playground itself is fully exposed, so better to go on a cloudy day.

Blown away!!! Until…read morerecently, I had absolutely no idea that this completely ginormous indoor golf lesson/practice facility even existed. From the outside it looks like a small space in an industrial building. But, when you drive around to the back parking/entrance, be prepared to be completely blown away once you step foot inside. What the what? The specialized rooms just kept on going and going and going. Today I receive a tour from Chris, one of the managing partners and instructors of this facility. The space overall is 13,000 square feet and inside they have putting greens, golf simulators, a driving range (what?), and all these cool assessment gadgets to help evaluate your stroke and help improve your putting skills so you can train to be a better golfer in your future. Whether you're a beginner kiddo to a grown adult (pro or golfer for fun), you can keep your skills up to par (see how I did that) throughout the winter weather right in Highland Park. Who knew? Just a hop skip and a jump off the expressway, and you'll be there in no time at all. Bonus points...Jewel/Osco is right across the street, so if you get hungry while you're at it, you can run and grab a bite. They offer 60 minute lessons and special practice times. Sadly (in a good kind of sad), I was so overwhelmed that I only snapped a couple of photos. Guess I'm going to have to sign up for lessons! Take note, they also host special events. Something to consider for your next party, perhaps?
