Where do I start? I love this studio! I had been searching for that special studio that felt like home for quite some time when I walked into Still Water Yoga & Wellness Studio for the first time. I can absolutely say, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that I found it here, I feel SO at home here at Still Water! Shannon, the owner, is one of the best instructors I have ever taken a class with, and the amazing part is, that ALL of her instructors are amazing! Since she is a certified teacher trainer and certifies a lot of her teachers herself, there is an incredible amount of consistency at Still Water, no matter whose class you are taking that day. The dictation is so clear, and we are always given three levels to stop at, so we can practice at our own level, push ourselves if we want to, take it easy if that's what our body or soul needs that day, and there is never any judgement or criticism, only encouragement, positive vibes, and genuine love for every single person in the room, breathing together as one. I just got back from a retreat in Greece too, which Shannon herself ran from start to finish. It was AMAZING, I don't even know how to describe the high I'm on right now! We just got home (hubby and I went together), and I want to go back already, lol. Seriously though, the friendships and memories we made will last a lifetime, and I will never forget the moments we had laughing, crying (good tears), and practicing yoga in one of the most beautiful settings I've ever seen together. If you're looking for something more than just a place to take a yoga class here and there, give Still Water a shot. This is not just any yoga studio, it's a yoga FAMILY, and you will be welcomed with open arms the moment you walk through the door, even if it's your very first time. An absolute gem of a yoga studio in South Lake Tahoe! After doing a lot of research on local yoga studios in the area for myself, as well as the fitness & wellness retreat my husband and I run at Lake Tahoe, I was really impressed by this studio and the instructors' bios on their website. Shannon's bio in particular struck me, as I am a big fan of some of the yogis she has trained under and trained with. I reached out to her via email and got a quick response back. Right off the bat, she was very gracious and welcoming. A week or two later, my husband and I brought a small group (6 of us total) to practice yoga with Shannon at her Weekend Warrior class on a recent Sunday, and we all had a wonderful, blissful experience! Shannon is just as lovely and welcoming in person as she was through our correspondences via email. The Sunday class we took was the perfect blend of a challenging, invigorating, centering, calming, and inspiring Vinyasa class that I was looking for. Even the Savasana at the end of class was wonderful with all the extra attention to detail, head/shoulder mini massage, and the darkening of the room to create an extra tranquil, meditative environment for us. A hidden gem! This is a lovely studio with amazing instructors. Shannon has a gift of cueing the poses and flows so regardless your level, you have the best possible practice when you are there. The instructors are knowledgeable in yoga and kinesiology. I came in with a tendon injury and was offered ways to modify my practice to allow myself to heal while continuing to practice yoga. read more

This is my absolute favorite studio in Tahoe. It is a beautiful space with a variety of instructors and instruction styles. Modifications are routinely emphasized and taught which is great for novice or erratic (me!) practitioners. You can sign up for a class with the MINDBODY app or drop in... but "drop-ins"be warned many classes are popular with the locals and can be quite full. It's worth the trouble to sign up! What a gem. Shannon has done a great job with the physical space--it is clean, well lit and very welcoming. The prices are very reasonable and you can book through the Mind-Body app without too much fuss. What I enjoyed the most about our yoga practice at Still Water Yoga was that Shannon was able to provide different variations for each poses to accommodate all levels. Her music is complimentary to her practice and is unobtrusive. I highly recommend the weekend classes as they are not too early in the morning, but early enough where you have the rest of the day. I recently moved from South Lake Tahoe and love the new yoga studio that I joined, however, I don't think that I will ever find better teachers than the ones at Still Water Yoga. Shannon has assembled an amazing team that manages to balance experience with fun in each class. Susan and Liz leading the morning classes are amazing and I want to someday join one of their yoga relief trips. Shannon is perhaps the best yoga teacher I have ever had or will ever have. I have done classes with Shannon for two separate bachelorette parties and they were both so fun! She does a fantastic job of reading the people in her class to make sure that everyone feels comfortable. She also provides adaptations for the different parts of the class for people to feel more challenged, or take it easier because of an injury/just wanting to adapt. I absolutely love this studio and the community that studio owner Shannon has cultivated! The vibe is down-to-earth, cozy, and focused on the yoga. Classes are predominantly vinyasa flow style; some are more strength-based than others. The yin classes on Mondays and Fridays are also amazingly restorative. I can't even express how grateful I am to have found this studio. I am a Tahoe local and have been practicing yoga for a few years, but when I found Stillwater my ability level skyrocketed. I never thought I would be able to do arm balances and now I can! Well, some of them, haha. I love Shannon's classes because they are playful and she gives three levels of modifications for every pose, so if you are brand new to yoga you will feel comfortable and welcomed but if you're advanced and really want your butt kicked you can have that experience too, it's your choice! I also love the diversity you can find at Stillwater. I've had an absolutely wonderful experience with every instructor I've taken a class from. They offer restorative classes, SUP yoga, hiking and yoga, happy hour yoga, yoga & beer, alignment workshops, arm balance workshops, meditation workshops, and other creative classes so you really can't get bored. Everyone is extremely kind, prices are super reasonable, and the instructors at this studio will help you become the best version of yourself you can be. I'm so happy I found my new happy place. After only having taken two classes from Shannon, she announced she was opening up her own studio. I had yet to find a studio, and teacher, that I really connected to since moving to the South Shore a few years ago. I gave Still Water Yoga a shot, and have been practicing consistently there now for over a year. Shannon is a great teacher, and I have been able to conquer poses, specifically arm balances, that I never even knew were possible! She always offers modifications to poses, and the sequences of poses are clearly thought out and the music is not overpowering during the class and compliments the classes very well. The space itself is inviting and relaxing, there are a variety of teachers and different yoga styles, meditation and restorative classes, monthly workshops, outdoor classes and even happy hour yoga classes (a great way to get your husbands/boyfriends to try yoga). Shannon is an inspiration to all that take her classes, her poses are beautiful, and my personal practice would not be as strong as it is today without her.
