The staff is wonderful and very prompt with their responses. Our new plan had us staying in the Wolf Den. Upon arrival our suite was spotless and so so welcoming. The suite offers everything you need for a beautiful trip away from home. The yard just off of the suite allowed for our dogs to stretch their legs and have some fun as well. We will definitely be back and will recommend Kenai Peninsula Suites to anyone. The stay was exceptional and the view of Katchemak Bay was second to none. Thank you Kenai Peninsula Suites!!!

The food is amazing, the staff is amazing, and the accommodations are luxuriously rustic (rustically luxurious?). During our stay, we went on privately-guided hike and kayak trips, had a gorgeous private sunset boat ride through Tutka Bay, and man, they really make the most of that epic deck space. Over 48 hours, it featured morning yoga, fishing, anemone-viewing, a helicopter landing, and glorious, glorious hammock naps. All of this is included. So is wine. And a massage. Tutka was a real highlight of an incredible trip to Alaska - I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I was really torn on what rating to give A Fisherman's Resort because parts of our experience were…read moregreat, and parts were pretty awful. We got one of the four rooms in the newly built Lodge. Strike one: it was hard to get our room booking confirmed. The resort's website has online booking, and I submitted our request there. After not hearing back for two days, I called to confirm our booking and had a confused conversation with a young woman who was being continually interrupted and who said she had gotten my request but hadn't responded to it yet (by email) because she was out of printer ink. (Huh?) Plus one: She was very nice and did in fact give me immediate verbal confirmation of the room followed by an email confirmation within another day. Strike two: when we arrived, the room was not clean. Plus two: The young woman at the desk apologized and got someone to start cleaning it immediately while we ran errands. The room was cleaned very well, and was extremely large and well-maintained. There were three queen beds and a twin bed, a full kitchen, and a full bathroom. There was an additional fee of $25 per person over double occupancy, but a friendly group could pack a lot of bodies in there and make it a cheap place to stay and cook meals. It was only $150 for two of us. A big strike three with no plus: It was SO NOISY. Our room (#1) was right over the fish processing portion of the lodge, so we had the thumping bass line of the workers' music coming through the floor until around 8:30pm. That wasn't an enormous deal. Things got quiet and peaceful outside our room around 10pm, but we were still able to clearly hear the beeping and slamming noises coming from the next door room as the occupants made food in their microwave. Let me be clear: those other people were being perfectly courteous with their noise level, but the walls had all the noise-blocking properties of thin cardboard. We could hear (loudly) cars driving past on the road outside, people walking or talking anywhere within 50 feet of our room, etc. It was crazy! The coup de grace was when doors started slamming and banging at 4am as people got ready to go on their 6:30am charters. For being such a nice room with clean, comfortable beds, it was one of the most miserable nights of non-sleep I've ever had. So there's the synopsis. If you don't mind noise, can sleep in earplugs, or are planning to leave at 4am, this might be a good place for your group. If not, you'll want to search elsewhere.

The massage was top notch, and the sauna was amazing, right on the cliff overlooking the water and eagles of Kachemak Bay. Even in the fog and rain, the setting was incredibly peaceful and lovely, and it the weather actually made it seem even more beautiful and relaxing in my opinion. I will never forget sitting in bed and watching thousands of shorebirds fly by over the course of our stay in early May, or the 5 eagles that flew right above my head as I soaked in the hot tub. It was wonderful to enjoy the beauty and wildness of the Homer Spit from the luxury of such relaxed and wonderful little boutique hotel.

The location is super quaint and an amazing view of the bay. Everyone who we encountered while coming and going was super friendly. As a guest of the Inn you have access to the hot tub. I appreciated how staff asked us to request hot tub times so everyone had the hot tub to themselves making it a more enjoyable experience. The hotel staff use texting as the primary way to communicate. This was nice - when we wanted extra towels we just sent a text.

Second, the quality of the amenities such as shampoo, body wash, ear q-tips, kitchen/pantry essentials was above average. Again, the choices reflected the class and taste of the individual making these choices. Third, our suite felt like home. Truly, we walked in and just felt our bodies relax as if we were at our home. I stayed in room 7 which is the pictured room and had a beautiful view of the ocean and the mountains. The bed was super comfy and I slept like a rock. It is a shared bathroom situation here which I'm not always keen on but it was never an issue, was easy. Door locks and a nice hot shower. The staff was very friendly and talked to the woman at the front desk for a bit and then across the street talked to her daughter at AJ's restaurant. I felt like I was part of the town for a minute there. There's a great restaurant across the street (AJ's), like about thirty feet away and Bunnell Street Art Center next to that. Will definitely come back.

The tiny fisherman's quarter rooms are perfect. The inn is on a cliff line right above the beach, so it has really easy access to the beach. The views are magnificent. You can see the beautiful ocean on the Kachemak Bay, snow covered mountains, a distant glacier, and volcano, eagles, and ravens. The inn is very close to tourist attractions, including the really nice visitor center, as well as the famous Homer Spit area. There's a lot of fantastic restaurants and cafe's really close, some walking distance. I've stayed at the Driftwood several times now and really love it. I love it so much, I took my family there recently and we had a wonderful time. Our daughters bunked in one of the tiny fisherman's quarter rooms, and they loved it. We rode horses on the beach right below the inn, and it was an incredible Alaska experience for our family, we will cherish always. The Homer Horse Adventures is on the beach right below the hotel, so within walking distance. We also spent a lot of time exploring the Homer Spit. Just a wonderful time. The Driftwood Inn was perfect and their staff are incredible, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I highly recommend the Driftwood Inn. I will be back again for sure.

Comparing to a stay at Lands End Resort i had last year in one of their newly renovated rooms, this one falls a little short, however compared to the unrenovated rooms, it's pretty comparable. It does lack the facilities of the Land's End in that's there's no restaurant, gift shop, convenience store, or coffee shop. Personally i like all those extras in a hotel. The suite was really nice though, we had a little kitchenette that was equipped with everything you'd need if you wanted to prepare meals. It had a cute 2 burner glass-type stovetop. However, there was no dishwasher, and no facilities available to wash your own dishes afterwards. There was a sink, so all you'd need would be the dish soap, a dish rag or sponge, and a tea towel, to keep your dishes and benches neat and tidy. Seems an oversight not to provide those. The fridge is a full sized one. The bathroom does not have much vanity space on either side of the basin, for 2 people, and i could not lay out all my items that I'd be using. Unusually, the closet entrance was in the bathroom, though it could easily have been accessed from outside, had the door been situated on the exterior wall. It was a strange layout. Not awful, just unusual. Though, the closet doors are mirrored, so maybe its good that they're in the bathroom. We had 2 queen beds, and here we get to my pet peeve wth hotels. They tuck the bedding in so tight, that you feel like you're in a straitjacket. And in this particular case, the bedding came up to my shoulder, so i was constantly wrenching and pulling, to try and make it come up high enough to snuggle into. I had to get up, move the heavy ottoman away from the end of the bed, and wrench the stupid sheets and duvet out, just to remake the bed to how i want it, and how i wanted it, was with the bedding a foot higher than it's current placement. I'm picky with pillows, i like a memory foam pillow, i just can't get comfortable on regular pillows, and end up punching them in aggravation. I wish I'd brought my own from home. It would be nice if hotels gave you a choice, and offered an alternative type of pillow. We did have a sea view, so that was nice. However it was horrible weather when we were down, snowing, gray, and very dark, and the power went out on Friday 13th, so there was nothing to do but nap. I found it unusual that at 11pm, a shutter is closed across the lobby area, and you don't have access to any staff till the next morning. Maybe that's due to it not being tourist season, but I've never stayed in a hotel where there weren't staff in the reception area 24/7. There is a limited vending machine situated inside the laundry room, with a soda machine and bottled water machine. Water was $3, whilst soda was $1. Of course the healthy choice is way more expensive. I'd have liked one of those convenience stores so you can always obtain what you need. Most hotels have them these days. Fortunately, it's situated right across the road from Safeway which is very handy. I'd stay here again, it's not bad.
