We had a great corner room 2 floors up so we had a nice view of the Rhine and the ancient city wall. This was our first stop in Germany on our first visit to the country,. The bathroom was a bit different. The shower is kind of cosy (the doors close into the corner furthest into the room and if not closed completely water gets all over the floor). Everything is tiled so it's not a problem. The room is large and comfortable. The bed is low and very firm but since we'd flown over from the US the previous night, it was perfectly comfortable to get a full night's sleep. This hotel is located at the north end of the town of Oberwesel so it is a great starting point to start walking to look at the ancient wall along the river or explore the town. We walked along the wall (it's got great walkways), up in the towers, then through town. When we returned we decided to dine in the restaurant for dinner. We were tired so close was better. As we were seated and placed our order, we noticed that all the other patrons were speaking German which is always a good sign. We didn't notice any foreign tourists (they're usually somewhat obvious). We ordered traditional German food and it was really tasty. Same for breakfast in the morning. Lots of Germans and good authentic (so I would assume) food. The family hosts were friendly and kind. The son was our server for dinner and spoke great English. The mother and (maybe) daughter took care of breakfast and spoke less well but still did a great job. We loved our visit here and would defiantly return again.

That's what I used and they were on the top three places to stay in Cochem. I had booked four rooms for my family, because majority of the hotel consisted of one two person beds. We were situated on two floors. One on the level above the cafe and the others on the top floor. Every room we had was amazing! All rooms were spotless and had the best views around. The owner (front desk guy) was very nice and welcoming. He spoke very good English and German (of course!). The hotel is perfectly placed. It is walking distance to: The Bridge (across the Mosel) Good Restaurants and Shops Center of Town (Town Square) Taxi Stop (of which can take you to the castle up on the hill or the train station) The Cafe under the hotel was great and I would refer you to TripAdvisor and my other review of Cafe Germania, here on Yelp. The breakfast was very good and I highly recommend the Weingelee (Wine Jelly). It was some of the best I've ever had! I would also recommend trying out the ice cream place next door. It is on the right when facing the front of the Hotel/Cafe. Would I recommend this place? Yes I would! I am definitely coming back to this place if I can!

If you arrive prior to check in they will hold your bags. At check in we were provided with the key and walked up 2 flight of stairs to our room. They did not have an elevator which was not a problem for us. Our room had two beds pushed together with fluffy pillows and a nice feather comforter. We had a balcony with 2 chairs and a small table. The bathroom was smartly decorated with all the necessary amenities, such as gel, shampoo and hair dryer. There was plenty of room to store luggage and closet space. Breakfast was outstanding. Each morning we were taken to our table which was very inviting. There was a basket with fresh rolls, cheese spread, and spreadable liverwurst. She had 2 stations which had an excellent selection of fresh coldcuts and wonderful smoked salmon. At the other station was a selection of fresh fruit, yougert, rolls, muffins and hard boiled eggs. This breakfast was plentiful but also very elegantly done. I look forward to staying here again.

We were starving and decided to stop in out of desperation, something which typically never leads to a good meal. But what a gem we found! Man, these guys are making some of the best wienerschnitzel I've ever had (and I've had quite a few in my day). They had this dish called wienerschnitzel "gypsy style", which absolutely rocked. You get a sizzling hot schnitz served with a truly eloquent hot pepper sauce, fried potatoes, dumplings, and salad. It was an amazing meal and the portions, in typical German style, were gigantic. Service was impeccable but it was a bit of a tough slog to communicate with their crew since they literally spoke zero English. No worries though, randomly pick something off the menu and enjoy!

My brother's family and ours were travelling with three toddlers and they not only provided very…read morenice little baby beds for them to sleep in, complete with cute-cartoon-character duvet and pillow, but also brought in toys for them to use in the room! Little rocking horse objects and a bead maze... way above and beyond the call of duty, and really really appreciated by our toy-starved boys. Also beautifully situated close to a playground and little beach on the Mosel. Thank you! For people interested in non-toddler related news, the rooms were lovely and clean, had little balconies looking out at the river, the breakfast was good standard German buffet breakfast stuff, and we had a fabulous 3k walk through cool woods along a river to get to Berg Eltz, which was a great outing. Our group was travelling by bike (yes toddlers+bikes; it's been exciting) and they were very accomodating of our bike storage needs etc also.

This is the best 11th C castle that I have been to in Germany. There is no awfully narrated audio…read moretour and no bored guides leading you through the passages. Its self guided so you go at your own pace. It is large and has a lot of areas including secret or dark passages that you can explore on your own. Bring a flashlight. Seriously. Though my iphone with flashlight app worked just fine. It has some new areas such as the museum but mostly this is a very well preserved ruin. Expect to spent 2-3 hours here. There is a tram from town that will take you up but its no more than a 15 min walk. We did it pulling our luggage and leaving it at the ticket booth while we explored. The kids will love this place. Oh and there is a restaurant there too in case anyone in your group would rather drink. Have fun.

The hotel is very convenient located with loads of parking. Why not five stars?
