The Purple Heart is awarded to those wounded or killed while serving in the US military on or after April 5 1917. The memorial here in Tahlequah was unveiled in 2020 and in addition to the above, honors the Cherokees and other Native Americans who served. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent supermarket and access is step free. A few lamps and benches mark the path.
