They brought me ice several times a day for my knees brought food from the restaurant and just occasionally stopped by to check on me. Both day and night shifts did this, and always did it with a smile. Sarah from night shift was especially helpful and her smile and great attitude always made me feel better through this difficult time. My week long business trip turned into room confinement but the friendly and helpful staff helped to make the best of my stay. I would highly recommend this hotel when in the area. The complimentary breakfast was amazing though I had the same thing all 13 days, 4 slices of bread butter/margarine and Jam with 1 glass of OJ, 2 boiled eggs and a coffee to go. There was lots of selection but I didn't bother for a sugary startup to my day. All in all it was a really good stay even though I missed my home and home made food. Usually we have only food from outside once in 2 weeks or so.

There was a registration table in the lobby area. The lobby looks clean, and modern. The lamps were funky and there were several couches and a TV. They also have a TV with the airplane departures on it. Outside of the meeting room, they set up a coffee/tea area. It was a cramped with eveyone getting their drink. They ran out of hot water, but one of the participants let the staff know and they were to get more. The room was set up with chairs on each side and an aisle to walk down. There were coat racks at the back which was nice. The chairs were set up a little too close together so we moved them out as there was still room for people to walk by at the ends. The temperature of the room was comfortable and there was counter space on the side if needed. The washrooms are about 5 stalls that are unisex. There's one handicap stall and the others are a little tight for space inside. For meetings, I could see there would be a line up to use the facilities. There's a White Spot on site so convenient if you don't want to go out. There's free parking too. Seems like a decent hotel and looks clean and modern.

I ate in the bar during my last stay, and the service was slow at the start (but that's another review). The gym is reasonably equipped and there is a pool as well. The weight machine seemed a little tangled up during my visit, but they have dumb bells and a bench which worked well enough. Two small gripes (1) the bathrooms do not have exhaust fans (this surprised me since it was a new building), and (2) the thermostat is in fahrenheit only. I know the hotel was likely designed in the US, but we speak Celcius here!

If you Close it. Beds are comfortable, really like the shuttle at 5:25 or 5:55. And we save about half of what we would have paid at a different park n fly. Only issue, fix the guest dryer that squeals it is the worst like that noise is the absolute worst, , my husband and I considered leaving it was so loud. It's probably just a fan belt but so so annoying. I'd also rearrange the foyer it's so chopped up and divided. It would be much nicer opened up and have obvious garbage can in the foyer.

Ripped up carpet. Loose door knobs. Gaps in the door. Room window view was of a trailer home. Toilet paper wasn't on a roller when. Well you get the idea. This ain't no Travelodge. I'm joking - it's comparable actually. Everything about this places screams Budget galore. And the sad part it, it's actually not cheap. But it's cheaper than the other options.

Zero landscaping seems to have been done for at least a year. Tall weeds and grass all around and on the property. The carpet sorely needs to be replaced throughout the hotel, especially in the hallway for my room on the first floor. In the room, the armchair has stains splattered across it and seems the original orange color is now a rusty brown. Light comes in under the door. No pen or notepad nor any hotel or dining info in the room. Rustic desktop lamp from decades ago gives little light. Appreciated the sink counterpoint and large mirror. The towels are stored *inside* the shower that didn't get warm enough water. Had to run the sink for 15 minutes to get warm enough water to wash my face. Thermostat doesn't work. AC unit in room worked, thank goodness, but grumbled and groaned to life each cycle. The bed was comfortable. The pillows flat. Bar soap only. The only other toiletries were shampoo, conditioner and lotion. No iron or laundry services. Breakfast not complimentary. Didn't use the fitness center or pool. Large parking lot that needs repaving and lines repainted. The hotel doesn't require the vehicle plate number.

This is a very dated hotel...and it shows. We checked into our suite quite late and didn't notice all the issues except for the couch and chair. My granddaughter absolutely refused to sleep on the pullout couch (and rightly so). The furniture looks like it should be on the curb (someone may pick it up). There was food scraps in the window sill and it looked like the carpet had not been vacuumed. All of these issues (and more) were brought to the attention of the general manager, who was surprised and apologetic and promised to make this right. Perhaps the single rooms are better. Counter service for check in and any other needs is always fast and friendly. While there are not a lot of amenities around, there are lots of delivery joints like Papa John's (total crap but that is for another review). The desk staff are happy to provide menus, just ask. Across the street is a Sheraton with a Ric's Grill which is ok. Walking there is a little crazy as there is little lighting in the evening and no sidewalks. There is a liquor store nearby as well. A trip into Leduc is easy enough with plenty good restaurants to choose from. The rooms are clean and well kept. If you have stayed in a Hampton Inn before, you will know they are consistent with decor, layout, and comfortable beds. The only drawback at this hotel is that (warning: rant about to begin) it has terrible television viewing. It is unfathomable to me, in this century, that basic cable is so hard to come by. This is a better than decent hotel and it cannot provide cable TV viewing that at least provides channels consistent with the channel guide. There are no sports channels available. The printed tv menu card is for show only. It is bizarre that the HGI about half a km east provides good tv viewing and sports channels. This may seem petty, but it annoys me enough to always try to stay at the HGI. The best part is that I complained and got a very heartfelt form letter from the GM assuring me that this was to be fixed. That was well before Christmas. Carried away you may say over a trifle? In my experience, it is small details like these and a failure to remedy them that hurts a business - especially when social media is so available to trash a business for this sort of thing. drops mike
