I probably should have read the reviews before hiring Stockdale landscape, my bad‼ I've had similar work done at other homes and usually when the contractor leaves you can hardly tell they've been there after rendering service. I must admit the communication was good between Chris and Mike, but they fell short on professionalism in the field. What really made the difference is that the company they subcontracted to do the curbing totally drop the football. They literally tore my yard up. Be careful and choose wisely before improvements to your landscaping, there are a lot of good companies out there as I have learned after the fact. PS.. Used them some years ago. Service was okay. But I believe he was annoyed by my constant calls with questions. I was in a new town and new home and couldn't figure out how to use sprinkler. Long story short years later when I called for more work to be done he responded and faked on me 3x on three separate occasions. The last time I had actually cancelled two other landscapers from coming to my home. He could have been straight with me and said I can't do it. Not gonna call him out of his name. We had multiple sprinkler valve manifolds replaced but less than a year later it came apart and flooded our back yard. Luckily we were home and able to shut the water off before too much damage was done. We called the company and we're told he'd come by and check it out but there really wasn't a warranty on the work. He never came and now when we call he does not answer. I would definitely NOT recommend this company. My husband had to re-do all the work we paid this company over $900 to complete. read more

With a home project in our sights, I went through the app Angi to find concrete contractors. Stockdale Landscape's name popped up so I set an appointment date and time. We quickly received an automated response. The appointment time passed but no one showed up. I sent a text to the company and got a quick response with an apology. A few hours later their representative showed up. We had a nice chat and showed him what we needed. He took no measurements even though we had 2 locations where we needed concrete taken out and repoured. He left stating we would receive a project quote in 2 days. 2 days came and went and no quote. Was this project too small for them? The other quotes we received were over $5,000. Was this project not within the scope of their work? Fine, just say so and don't lead us on. We will not be looking to this company for anything in the future. read more

Stockdale Landscaping did a job for a neighbor on our quite and clean culdesac. They left a mess in the street. I called the company to complain and was told they would be right out to clean up but never showed up. I sent pictures without getting a response. I don't think this 70 year old should have to clean up after them. read more

I was very happy with Stockdale Landscape. They were professional and courteous, but most of all the product turned out great. I am very happy with my new artificial turf. I also appreciated that of all the places I got quotes from, although Stockdale Landscape wasn't the cheapest, they were the only ones who truly addressed my pets needs. They dig deeper for better drainage, and they also used a special pet friendly infill Cale's t cool which will keep the grass 40 degrees cooler than normal artificial turf does. Chris was helpful and his staff was hard working. The job did take 1 extra day than expected, but it didn't bother me. I would recommend them. read more

Very happy with the work that they provided my sprinkler system. And the guys were really nice too.

We asked for an estimate to repair sprinklers and put them on a timer. The estimate was just under $1,900, so we went ahead. When the project was done and the bill came, it was over $3,800. We talked to Chris, the owner, who is a nice guy, and he told us he likes to do business on a handshake. I told him that that's stupid, that the state obligates him to provide change orders to us so we can approve the charges. I said we'd pay him the estimate plus 15%, and that was it, that he could pursue us legally if he wanted to, but he said he doesn't do that. He took the money, but he wasn't thrilled. We liked the crew that did the work. They showed up on time and worked their tails off in really hot weather. read more

Called for an estimate and the guy came out looked at my backyard he took no measurements, no pictures, and was basically texting while I was talking to him. Spent probably 5 minutes. Said he'd contact me in two weeks never heard back from the guy. Bad business. Ended up just calling a concrete contractor. I'll design my own backyard. read more

This company is a joke. I should have listened to my gut and tossed Chris off the property when he almost fell over trying to use a rake. His team was unprofessional. They were contracted to remove an old system and install a new system. They did neither, because it was too hard and too much work. Instead, they installed a few new pipes and hooked everything up to the old system and then lied about it. It sounds like his team might be ok w/ basic work that doesn't require a lot of effort or brain power. Their prices are absurdly high as well, so shop around and you'll see what I'm talking about. read more

This company really disappointed me. I went into the job knowing there was extensive work needing done and was willing to pay for it. When Chris came out I was very explicit in what I wanted accomplished consequently when his people showed up he was barely on site and part of what I wanted done didn't happen. It then took 5 more days for them to come back out and again Chris was not on site. I teach from home on Wednesdays and the two working here work swearing loudly while I was zooming with my students. To top it off they did not change out what Chris said they were going to do and yet I have no idea what they did because I never heard from them. Chris responded quickly to see the job so that he could give me a quote. He didn't write anything down which hurt the job later when important things we're forgotten. The guys who came and did the work were awesome BUT I ended up with the wrong rock in my yard, irrigation to plants on my driveway that they forgot to run water to and plants that died. I was reimbursed a bit for the ugly rock that was substituted for what I really asked for but I have had to repeatedly call and text and email about the plants (30 of them ) that died. I have been strung along and ignored and finally had to replace the plants myself. While Stockdale Landscaping may do a good job just on cement, I WOULD NOT recommend this business for landscaping or for customer service read more

Although I thought the estimate was too high for the job they were supposed to do, after a few days of consideration I went ahead and accepted it because I didn't have the time or energy to get numerous bids. I got two others which were much less expensive but the job they were going to do was not as extensive. I accepted one of the other bids but that person never showed up. I thought I might as well go with Stockdale because they were supposedly a reputable business. I was very wrong. After calling Chris and accepting his estimate he said that was great and he or his office manager would get back to me later that day or the next morning. That never happened, ever, for which I am now grateful. I had someone else do the job at about a quarter of the price. read more

i have called 3 times now with no answer returned. there is no secretary just a voice mail. after reading the reviews it looks like i dodge a major bullet. i own a swimming pool company and we return and answer all phone calls personally. there's nothing worse than trying to contact a company that wont return calls. i live in the bakersfield country club and this guy lost out. very sad company! read more

They bid the project at what seemed like a very high rate to fix three sprinklers. They did the work and left the sprinklers below grade. At one location they didn't fill in the hole. They came back out a 2nd time. The work was better but they turned off the system and we didn't understand how to turn it back on. They just said we wouldn't have turned it off. My husband had to find a you tube video to diagnosis the valve was closed and it took awhile to pressure back up before it would turn on again. You would think a landscaping company would have been able to troubleshoot. I will not use them again. read more

So I should have looked this company up first. Called them for a sprinkler manifold leak. The foreman came out and I showed him the area that I had a leak He talked me into a new valve set and said they'd have everything set and good to go when they leave. The new manifold was great , the next day I had standing water in the same area. . I have made several calls and texts to CHRIS ( the boss) With one response but no real attempt to make it right. I'd like to give Stockdale Landscape and Concrete an excellent review and recommendation for any landscape job that you may have. From the start Mike came out to look at my back yard for a quote to install artificial grass that is pet friendly and rugged to take the abuse of my dog. I then received a quote from Chris, the owner, presented in one of the most comprehensive formats I have seen. the price was broken down in such a way that I could follow the progress of the crew. Their method of installing the grass was much more involved than other quotes. I was extremely happy with the end result. I then requested a quote to reinstall my water feature in front of my house in such a manner that I did not have to get on my knees and reach in the water to adjust the water pressure or repair or replace the valves. What they did was a complete remodel of the feature which makes it completely user friendly and safe to use and requires much much less attention. Again, the end result was excellent. Lastly, the 5 man crew were all brothers who worked very well together. They were the most polite and attentive crew members who kept me abreast of their progress. They were the Cinco Hermanos ! I paid a little more than I could have, but to assure me of an excellent quality job with no problems I chose Stockdale Landscaping to do my projects. The owner Chris talks a good game. We hired him to help with our sprinkler system and install a new timer. He sees to understand the technology quite well but needs an immediate crash course in customer service and effective invoicing. He did not show up when he told us he would on several occasions (forcing us to call another contractor) and sent us a bill with the wrong type of timer twice. It's too bad because he could have made us a lifelong customer. I hope he finds a mentor who can help understand business 101. read more

What was supposed to be an 8 day project turned into 4 weeks, owner blamed Home Depot for delivering retaining wall bricks late but they were really only a little under a week off their planned delivery. That made the project such a long process because when I was told a 6 man crew would come install in 1 day, only a 2 man crew showed up due to "sick calls".....but one of the workers let it slip they were on another project. So the company is all about overbooking. When confronted about sprinklers not watering the entire lawn, I was told our water pressure was not good enough. Instead of replacing their "18ft" sprinklers with smaller ones and installing another sprinkler to water the areas getting no water, it was just brushed off and I was told "they'd fix it"....they never did. We were told they'd come back and finish the drip line to our flowerbed, they never did. They let a couple grand worth of sod die in my front yard because they didn't come back in time to put up the retaining wall and finish the sod, I will say the owner took blame for this and didn't charge extra. Once they were paid, they never came back. One of their wheel barrels and shovels still sits in our front yard. I will say the owner answered my concern about mushrooms growing all over the newly laid sod by stating "that means my soil is nutrient and it's a good sign" but after reading the company who supplied the sods webpage, mushrooms are actually a sign of diseased sod....which makes since considering a large part of our backyard is dying quickly! $7500 in sod and a LARGE part ruined. I messaged the owner Chris about this and he never responded. If you want a company who can't meet a deadline, will give you faulty sod and not get back to you....this company is for you....other than that, I wouldn't recommend them... read more

My husband and I called Stockdale Landscaping in order to obtain an estimate. Chris was kind enough to come out and talk to us. His last response was that he would email us an estimate for the job. A week rolled by and still no estimate. I called into the office and reminded him of the estimate he had indicated he would provide for us. He stated he was almost done with it and would have it send to us. A month has gone by, still no response. It is a shame that Stockdale Landscaping cannot provide professional customer service to its prospective customers. If basic customer services such as an estimate cannot be provided and chasing from the customer is required, then I will take my business and money elsewhere. read more
