A perfect way to spend an afternoon in Stockholm!…read more We saw a deal on Groupon and decided to go for it. As it turns out, we didn't read very carefully and the deal actually wasn't valid until two weeks later. But when we called the staff were very friendly and helpful and said that we could go that day anyways, but that we would get three hours instead of the 7 (full day) promised in the Groupon deal. Since we were novices and didn't need a full day, and since we couldn't do it later anyways, it was wonderful that we gave us that option, although technically it wasn't as good of a deal. It was my first time ever kayaking, and I was nervous and didn't think we would move very quickly or get very far. The man said it would be easy for us to kayak all the way arund Kungsholmen and back to Långholmen, including an hour long break at Karlberg, and still be back within three hours. I didn't believe him, since I'm pretty weak - but it's true! We managed to kayak all the way around in just 1.5 hours (we didn't take a break). It was very exciting to see parts of Stockholm I've never seen before, especially from the water. You end up discovering all sorts of cool little swimming spots you never knew were there. Kayaking through the canals is beautiful, and you get an unbeatable view of the City Hall as well. It's great exercise and a ton of fun. The staff are unbeatable and very helpful and accommodating. Whether you live in Stockholm or are a tourist, this is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon!

When riding the bikes, the seat moves and needs continual adjustment. Although not the bike's fault, the trail is crowded with joggers, strollers, lovers, and walking groups making navigation tricky. Finding Sjöcaféet is easy. While crossing the bridge, you can see paddle boats and kayaks for rent. Head over to that area and you will see a bank of bikes waiting to be rented. Although the building says Royal Djurgården Visitor Center, it's Sjöcaféet. After telling the friendly gal that I'm interested in renting a bike, she tells me it's $8/hour and there are various free maps and other info located at the desk. After paying, you receive a key to unlock the bike for riding and locking it when not riding. To store your stuff, all the bikes have front baskets. Because the trail is so crowded, you will not be able to enjoy the scenery, but rather making sure you don't run into someone.

The beef stroganoff was tasty and so was the shrimp, tomato pizza. The waitresses were attentive, and checking in on us from time to time. The service is way better than the snotty Italian trattoria in the city where you have to reserve in advance and pay twice as much for the same dish. Also, free wifi

This review is for the kayak rental only, as I haven't tried the cafe yet…read more I've rented from them twice now, and had two fantastic experiences. I'm no kayak expert, but from my perspective, their kayaks are high quality, well-maintained, and in good condition. They provide everything you need for a great afternoon on the water - a dry bag to store your stuff, a life jacket, a paddle, a skirt for the kayak to keep your legs dry, and a laminated map to find your way around. The first time I rented, Richard was extraordinarily helpful and went above and beyond in helping us get started, going through the basics in paddling technique, and suggesting some routes out on the water. The second time I rented, a big group arrived around the same time as us, so Ida was a bit rushed in getting us started and less proactive in offering tips, but still made time to answer our questions. The scenery you can get to from this launch point is fantastic - you'll get a spectacular view of Stockholm from a very unique perspective, and the water is relatively calm. There is some big boat traffic, but it's no problem at all as long as you are a bit alert. If you decide to rent kayaks from Kafe Kajak - and you should! - I recommend bringing with you a bottle of water and a ziploc bag for your phone, so you can keep it handy and take some pictures without worrying about getting it wet.

The website assures beginners that they can be fine going through several routes, but no specifics. When we reached the shop, we asked for guidance twice - when we were given our kayaks at the cashier, and at the start point at the shore. Both times the staff said - "If you turn left, you reach Fågelön if you turn right you go through Långholmen" - that's it. Again, no specifics. No one asked if we were beginners or if we were experienced. No one gave safety tips before we launched out. The one information that could have helped us as a beginner group was to give a warning about the boat traffic. 2. Safety jackets There were no other options for safety jackets other than children's safety jackets. The four of us - all in our 30s - were given children sized jackets. Because we thought this should be a leisurely exercise we did not think much of this but later on when we ended up in the water, this jacket ended up constricting more than helping. 3. Assisting distressed customers We were rescued by other kayakers and a family boat - when we managed to find a way to call the staff was clueless and did not care about helping us. Right after we experienced something distressing, the staff instead made us feel like we were to be blamed. It took many calls and explaining to get through to you that we were too distressed to continue kayaking, but your staff kept insisting that kayaking back was the only solution. The staff did not put in much effort or show any form of empathy to the situation. We were not taken seriously and treated awfully. We are OK now but to be clear, we had to help ourselves and find our own solution. You need to do better.
