    Chef plating meals at Stockhorn
    Ted C.

Cozy, rustic atmosphere, fantastic food, and great service! If you're looking for creative food pairings and a great local atmosphere, I highly recommend Stockhorn. Food is cooked over an open fire and masterfully plated by a chef who has created some incredible sauce pairings. The lamb cutlets and pork belly were a treat! Our server, Amy had some great recommendations of both food and wine. On my next trip to Zermatt, this will definitely be on my list of places to dine!

A fine fire cooking a fine steak.

First off, 3 dollar signs is a bit overkill. The quality of the food is worth more than 3 dollar signs, and the bill didn't say 3 dollar signs at all. The service was absolutely next level. I felt as if I was a member of this family's eating at their home. The ambiance was nothing short of a Swiss chalet that is funded by a Swiss bank. I could not recommend this place more. It might be the best restaurant in town. Thanks for making a moment a memory.

    Parsnip soup....sooooo good.

My girlfriend and I just got back from eating at the Stockhorn and it was fantastic. I had the skewers and she had the rib-eye. Each cooked to perfection. Side dishes and veggies were awesome as well. In fact I finished the veggies and the waitress brought us more. Service was impeccable and friendly. Ambiance was warm and inviting. HIGHLY recommend going here.

So so so delicious!!! Gluten free options, great meat, fresh sourdough bread with the meal, locally sourced ingredients, great ambiance and atmosphere.

Stockhorn Grill Restaurant is probably my most favorite restaurant in Switzerland. REALLY! I JUST SAID IT! WAM! I came here twice, once with my mother, once with my boyfriend. The chicken skewer marinated in sesame oil and ginger was the best chicken my mother had ever tasted... AND I HAD EVER TASTED! It actually fell apart in your mouth. It was so flavorful and delicious. I had never tasted chicken with that much flavor and with a perfect texture. It was so SO soft but somehow all the flavor didn't overpower it. It was perfect. The side of potato gratin was the best gratin I had ever tasted. To be honest, I dig the packaged stuff that you just add water (and maybe butter) to, but this kicked all other potato gratins out of the park. The combination of cheeses and perfectly cooked and sliced potatoes was phenomenal. And then there was the combo of meats on a skewer. Holy shiznit. There was bacon, and steak, and pork, and some type of sausage, and at least two pieces each (great for sharing). Holy hell I don't think I've tasted so many smokey- amazing flavors on one plate. It was absolutely delicious. The fondu was great, very rich and strong cheese. And the roesti was ok (kinda like hash browns). But I'm not a huge fan of roesti anyway. The service was wonderful, the decor is so sweet and traditional Swiss, cozy and beautiful. And the food. MAN YOU GOTTA TRY THE FOOD.

Not cheap, but amazing food and friendly service. I suggest this is the best all-round restaurant in Zermatt.

To get to our table, we walked past an open fire where a chef was cooking meat and the aroma filled the air.

Because we were a party of 3, we did not fit the number of chairs in the restaurant. She started to call 2 parties of 2 behind us. Since she's allowing parties of 2, I told her to just take my husband and my kid. I will not eat. After being the first to be seated in an empty 20 seats room, my husband and kid were served last. My husband said that she continued to be rude to them and other patrons. My kid said that his curry pork rice was the worst. The curry was clumpy and the rice was mushy. My husband said that his ramen was mediocre at best. The meat was dry and the noodles were clumped together. There are many other options at the Chamonix Village. There's no need to pay overpriced mediocre food and be treated badly. Definitely skip Tanpopo.

Although I can't agree with a previous review stating it was the "best ramen I've ever had," we enjoyed a tasty and comforting Japanese meal. They were not able to make maki rolls so we ordered the wakami seaweed salad as a starter that was nice and light. For entrees, we ordered the Tanpopo complet beef curry with boiled egg and a miso ramen bata with added spicy white sesame oil. One side note: I liked the kick of the spicy oil, but since that particular ramen comes with butter, it felt a bit too oily. My recommendation is to only add spicy oil to ramen that doesn't come with butter :) I felt that both the curry and ramen dishes needed some salt. Luckily, this was easily remedied by a couple shakes of the salt shaker. Overall, we enjoyed our first lunch in Chamonix!
