We loved their sweet wines! They have a great variety of wines (also have Dry & Semi-Sweet options) as well as hard ciders, so you can choose what you like! They also have a delicious cheese platter which has four different cheese options. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and being able to sit inside or outside on the patio. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. We brought our dog and they were very accommodating to her (asking if she needs water and petting her). One bestie and I stumbled upon the winery while exploring the countryside on a recent Saturday. We checked it out and returned two weeks later with two other friends. Third on my list (Back Roads Wine Trail) and one of my favorites on the trail. To get to Stone Brook Winery you go through a scenic windy road in the countryside. I really enjoy rides like this. You view beautiful farms, landscape and homes. It is located in Camp Springs Kentucky. 20 minutes south of Cincinnati. Stone Brook is family owned and operated producing wine since 2004 (estate vineyards since 2000). They specialize in fruit wines but also have dry and semisweet red/white wines. I was fortunate to meet the owners Bonnie and Dennis Walter. Both were very welcoming and friendly. I love the entrance and the barns! You have to go up a gravel hill to get there. I promise you will love their tasting room! It is renovated -130 year old farm house converted and also historical home landmark. Just the landscaping itself is gorgeous, there is a patio where you can enjoy your wine or even have dinner on the weekends. They grill and make all their food there. It is only $5.00 for the tasting which you can choose any 5 wines on the list. Here is what I tried. Since my preference is dry red wine. My list will be mostly that. -Cabernet Franc- Dry medium body. Oak aroma and hints of black cherry. My third favorite from the list. You can really taste the oak flavor which I love! -Bodacious Red- This is a new addition to the reds. It is a blend of Chambourcin and Cabernet. This was my favorite and ended up getting a bottle to take home $20.00. -Stone Brook Nouveau Rouge- This is not oak barrel, but very smooth. My second favorite. After my tasting I had a glass ($5.00). -Chambourcin- This is dry, full body wine, vinted in oak barrels. -Barrel Berry Red- This is an elder berry which is dry and aged in bourbon barrels. This was my least favorite. Stone Brook has many more wines to choose from. The pricing ranges from $13.00 on up. Many locals enjoy their fruit wines- Apple, Blackberry, Blueberry, Cherry, Concord, Cranberry, Elderberry, Pear, Peach, Pomegranate, Raspberry, Strawberry and many more. Dessert wines, they have the Tropical Explosion, Honey Mead and Black Knight. They also have events held here (weddings, etc). Make sure to get your Back Roads Wine Trail VIP Passport stamped. I almost forgot and Bonnie reminded me which was very generous. I really enjoyed my time at Stone Brook and would love to bring my friends over! I could not stop taking pictures of their property! I visited the Stonebook Winery with some girlfriends on Saturday afternoon as part of checking out the NKY back roads wine tour. Their team was very friendly, gave us generous pours and gave a free sample of a new wine, 5 tastes for $5. They have a large selection of fruit wines, which one of my friends thoroughly enjoyed and preferred over the rest of their wines. Their Elderberry fruit wine was the best of the fruit wines I tasted. They had a variety of folk art around the space sold by a local artist, they also were preparing for a dinner that evening, they told us they have dinners at the winery a few times a month. I would come back, a friend said in the spring & summer you can enjoy a glass out in flower garden on the side of the winery. read more

After navigating a wicked gravel entrance and parking on a rather steep hill, I entered the cozy rustic tasting area that was originally an 1890's home. The place had lots of crafts and quaint country knick-knacks as well as the awards and medals draped over various wine bottles. The tasting experience amounted to the kind you would find in a typical grocery store wine area. Little to no information about the wine, and kind of rushed and unsatisfying. The wines, as are typical to what I've had in the Midwest, are really sweet and lacking in complexity. No big deal, everyone likes different styles of wine. I was not compelled to purchase any of the wine but was intrigued by some of the varietals, including the apricot and other unique fruit flavors. For the non-wine drinkers there are a few beers that one can purchase, including the over praised KY Bourbon Barrel Ale. If you would rather taste their wines without venturing out to the winery, check out their mini store in Newport on the Levee shopping mall. It's next to Claire's and to the right of the escalators on the main level. And check out the art too! I will most likely not return but wish them success and hope that they can pave their entrance area. read more

I want to give this winery 5 stars for service but 4 for the wine and atmoshpere. So i'm rounding this one out to a 4.5! Been here twice and the girl working treated us like family from the moement we walked in. The wines here are very sweet but they let you pick out which ones you want. They have the most extensive list on the backyard wine trail. I don't think you should bash this place for having sweet wine because it is what they do best. They have won so many medals for their wines their shelves are about to fall down. From the Kentucky Derby to Wine Festivals this place takes the cake for their sweet wine. Dont like sweet wine? Just ask to have a few glasses of their drier wine they are more than willing to accomidate your tasting to fit your needs. Amazing patio out back. They also do Saturday dinners. From her comments, her wines are quite popular and you can find them in a lot places of than the tasting room. They just weren't to my taste. That said, when she mixed the apple wine and cranberry wine, I ended up with a wine cooler that would do comfortably on the porch during the summer. So I did find something I liked. read more

Well I'm not a wine buff or anything (I make my own wine and love sweets but don't care for the snobbiness of the whole affair). I've never opened a bottle of Stonebrook and hated it. We swung in here on our way to the hockey game Saturday night and they hooked us into doing the whole tour. The lady at the counter was nice and interactive. She was relaxed and would have probably let us try an extra one or two if we wished. The wine was good.. like I said we are sweet wine drinkers and headed that direction.. mostly stopped to try the pumpkin spice wine (I'm not a white girl but I brought one). It was good tasted like pumpkin pie. Nice place good stop. It's not the ritz but your not looking for that here. Just had dinner at Stonebrook with a large group from work. It's a great place for a large party to have a relaxing dinner. We were able to reserve a large table, preorder the food, and it turned out great. The service was fantastic, Shelly managed our table and group with a lot of help from the family. Most everyone shared a few bottles of the house wines. The dinner was nice, the food was average. The desserts, made by "grandma", were fabulous. They were home made and hit the spot with a hot cup of coffee. Great atmosphere, great service, a nice change of pace from the same ole busy places. We came down to Cincinnati from Columbus to check out some wineries. StoneBrook was at the top of our list based on the huge selection. We are glad we decided to check it out! Jill, was working the tasting room and she was very friendly and knowledgeable on all the wines! She knew just what to suggest to try! The winery ended up getting SUPER busy and she still did an amazing job at keeping everyone's glasses full and everyone happy! We're no wine experts but we know what we like and Stonebrook had several choices that fit the bill. In fact we took 6 different bottles home for another day. It's a bit of a hike off of the beaten path but it was worth the trip and the wide open green space made for a refreshing drive. The tasting area is set up in a nice covered space on a pleasant hillside with cafe tables (COVID-safe). The service from Allison was professional, friendly and informative. What an amazing dinner! We had a small mistake in booking a reservation but they didn't bat an eye and put us up on the gazebo! The ribs are AMAZING. This was our first stop on the back roads wine tour, and after a long, winding, hilly drive we were ready for some wine! We chose to do 6 tastings for $5. I chose to try 3 of the grape wines and 3 of the fruit wines. Overall the wines were mediocre - there was nothing I tried that I wanted more than a tasting of. And the lady working the counter had very little personality - she just simply waited for us to ask for another tasting and offered very little information about the wine or the winery. read more

Sweet, sweet, sweet. That's what you're going to find at Stone Brook. lots of fun summer type wines, but nothing very complex going on here. They also have some of the wider distribution in the region, and you can find them all over the place. They do dinners at the winery, simple menu, they have a patio and some garden seating, so it can be quite the enjoyable afternoon. Take advantage of the back roads trail, there is at least 1 winery within a couple of miles of here to round out your afternoon. read more

I will say up front that I did not go to the actual winery - an art gallery at the levee in Newport offers some of their wine. You could do a wine tasting (6 tastes for $5) and it was so fun. The guy working made great conversation and kept things interesting. We were tempted to sit around chatting with him and drinking wine all day! The wine was also delicious. My favorites were the blackberry, blueberry, pear, and most definitely their special Black Knight. Wow! Great experience! Went with large group - staffs' ability to get everyone addressed was phenomenal. Order meal in advance - right after wine tasting salads then meals delivered in extremely organized and timely fashion without being painfully formal. Food hot and delicious! Stopped by the winery this afternoon had a very relaxing and refreshing experience. The tasting room is a remodeled home from the 1890s on the farmstead. There is peaceful seating inside and out. The staff was amazing very friendly and informative. The wines are more of a fruit base flavor even the dryer of choices. They have dinners on Saturday's with RSVP. Went to the wine tasting and dinner last night. Over All was ok, Not great, not bad. I will say the Ribs were very good, If all I was using to rate the experience was the ribs, I would say 4 stars. However, there is more to the story. Hard to find, road is marked with signage but overgrown with weeds, help your customers. We missed the turns twice. Wines are sweet and not complex. Salad was fair, iceberg lettuce, carrots, yellow cheese, small grape like tomatoes, don't know if they were home grown, but I doubt it. Next came the food. Nice portions, especially the pork tenderloins. Ribs are great. Side dish of small potatoes, very good, Canned green beans, come on, why no fresh green beans? Did I not go to a farm? Desserts were ok, but seems like the kind you buy at Costco. No coffee nor was coffee offered. The biggest turn off for me was the music. I could have enjoyed the experience much more without the noise. Made if very difficult to care on conversation. Played the whole 2 hours we ate. Very distracting, added nothing to the night. Too distracting for background music. Our waitress was pleasant, friendly, but kind of goofy. I asked my wife how she felt, her rating was similar to mine It good enough to go once, probably would not go back. read more
