I called Stone Source after scouring the internet for a company that would "renew and refresh" older (20 years ) granite countertops. Stacy at Stone Source was the first of my fabulous interactions with the company. Even though we weren't a current client, she was willing to help me out. Asking for photos, that she would show to Sergey, their service professional. Sergey looked these over and gave an estimate. His work and customer approach were fantastic! The counters shine, the nicks repaired, and replaced the silicone caulk and the clean up was immaculate! What a pleasure to work with both Stacy and Sergey. Stone Source in Plymouth MN had a good selection of granite and quartzite slabs, but their installation was terrible. If you buy slabs from them, I highly recommend you have someone else do the fabrication and install. Stone Source did extensive damage to our custom cabinets when they installed the island countertop (over $1,000 in damage) and will not pay for the damage because according to my salesperson, "In the signed contract, it states that Stone Source is not liable for damage to cabinets as it is a construction site and you are acting as your own general contractor. I spoke with the team and unfortunately Stone Source cannot cover the charges." The contract said "Care will be exercised during installation & removal of counters; however scrapes, punctures, or digs to wall surfaces are possible, as are scratches & scrapes to cabinetry & appliances, and construction dust. These are considered incidental damages & are the customer's responsibility to repair." I saw this in the contract prior to install and asked my salesperson about this and she said not to worry about it because they never damage the counters. I think over $1,000 in cabinet damage is more than incidental and very unprofessional! They did not take any ownership for the damage they caused. I did have a separate general contractor so don't really understand their response and what that has to do with Stone Source damaging the cabinets. In addition, they had to come out 3 times (so far) to fix the seam where the pieces of quartzite meet. The silicone, or whatever they use, keeps coming out and leaving a hole between the pieces. I now have a nice big ugly seam. On top of all of this, when they installed the countertops, they dripped the sealant down one of the cabinets and had no solution for getting the drip stains off. Please beware of shopping at this company. This company is a literal scam with how much they charge you for how poor their installation is. We contracted work with stone source back in January, and their incredibly poor installation work resulted in thousands of dollars of damage to our kitchen. They damaged almost every single surface on our kitchen cabinets, they damaged walls in our kitchen, caused a ground fault by doing unlicensed electrical work which caused us to lose power in our entire home in the middle of winter, they also ruined their own countertop they'd installed the week before by dumping silicone all over it, and then using a sealant that ruined the integrity of the counter, and worst of all they have taken absolutely zero accountability for it. Jason and Sarah are nice and helpful in the moment they're trying to make money off you, but trust that they along with their owner do not have your back, and do not stand behind their work. There are much more affordable options elsewhere for stone that is just as good, and I am incredibly regretful that we did not go with another stone company. The worst part is they will say we "signed a contract", and they "abided by their contract" and blah blah blah. Do not trust a word they say. read more

I recommended Stone Source to a friend. She used them and they did an absolutely terrible job for her. 1. The quote they gave her ended up to be much more money than quoted. 2. They cut a piece wrong and recut it crooked outside with a saw. 3. The white quartz countertop has a large black piece in it where it is very visible. This is a flaw and should have been caught before they cut the slab. 4. They damaged the wall for my friend to repair herself. 5. The gaps between the counter and the wall are so large that the silicone is falling down the wall. There were other problems, but you get my point. I personally went in to Stone Source and talked to the installation manager and was told this was an acceptable job. Due to their lack of customer service STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS... I was so excited when I first went into Stone Source in Plymouth when I found the perfect tile for our bathroom remodel. I paid in full for the two different tiles. On the promised pick up date, the fully paid for tile was mysteriously oversold. The sales team spent the next 3 weeks lying to us, avoiding phone calls and being horribly unprofessional. They indicated that they were sorry and would order us new tile at no additional cost since our bathroom was ripped up because they oversold our tile. Weeks later, we found out that they never actually even ordered the new tile!!! THEY NEVER REFUNDED OUR MONEY and NEVER DELIVERED OUR PRODUCT! Stone Source is a scam! Please do not use Stone Source for any sort of project. Look at their Yelp reviews for an accurate representation of their customer service as they take down their negative Google reviews. We hired them to install new countertops and a backsplash for our kitchen. The countertop install only resulted in minor damages that we discovered afterwards. The backsplash install resulted in the following issues: Scraped cabinets around the sink, stove and microwave 19 of the 21 cabinets had silicone staining due to their careless installation (an older guy who apparently had experience in installing backsplashes and a high school kid who had no experience) Sunk wall outlets - they did not remove the outlets prior to the install so the plugs were 3 cm deep into our wall Stained our new granite island countertop with silicon - permanently damaging the sealant and cannot be fixed Backsplash was measured incorrectly, resulting in the right side slanting downwards and thick beams of silicon taking up extra space between the cabinet and stone throughout the whole backsplash We communicated these issues to our project manager, Sarah, within an hour of the installation being completed. She sent her install manager Jason and the measurement guy Sergey out the next day to attempt to fix the outlets and cabinet damage. They caused a ground fault in our condo, which resulted in us losing power in our entire unit during the middle of February. These people are not licensed electricians and only caused more damage while trying to fix their errors. They took no accountability for the cabinet damages, saying it was "expected wear and tear during install" and that their measurements were accurate but "our wall is bent, causing the stone to slant downwards". $1800 of paint repairs is clearly in excess of expected wear and tear and Sergey measured our backsplash twice and the bent wall only came up after the fact, which is clearly an excuse for his poor workmanship. Stone Source refunded us the money we paid for emergency electricians to come fix the damage they caused but refused to pay the rest. Please use any other company for these type of projects. Stone Source acts like they care about their customers but in reality they only care about their bottom line. read more

Stay away!!!!! They installed my kitchen granite in my home and cut the granite in such a way that a large mineral deposit was placed in the middle of the island. It's extremely unsightly and reflective to light. It stands out from over ten feet away and is a complete eyesore. Amy the project manager had horrible communication and had to be called several times to address the issue over the period of a week delaying other contractors. I asked to talk to the owner Lenny and she stated that he refuses to take phone calls when there are problems. They completely refused to address their mistake. When I pointed out that it could have been placed in a different location she kept talking how much more it would have cost to do it differently. I was never even asked the question of what I would have wanted done. I just wanted the job done correctly. A horrible experience overall. Don't trust your project to them. We purchased first quality kitchen counter granite, not a remnant from Stone Source. We inspected the slab in the factory and approved layout. Hours after installation we noted what appeared to be a resin repair of a crack that ran perpendicular to the natural grain. Service team called out, tried to tell me it was naturally occurring, but backed of when I showed them the resin glob under the counter. Stone Source did not reply to several of our calls or emails and refuses to replace or reimburse, Citing that we took too long to complain. We made complaint within first few hours. They had a lawyer send us a letter claiming defamation and demanding cease and desist. An honest review is not defamation, we have never used bad language or implied anything but the truth. Stone Source sold us their guarantee but cited that we had left it too long for them to correct. We have a disabled daughter and are in the middle of multiple renovations, our initial contacts were prompt and courteous, merely seeking fair resolution. We are very very very disappointed in the quality and customer service from this company. It's such a shame as we were really excited about this kitchen renovation. Overall had a good experience working with Stone Source. The countertop itself is beautiful, I was happy with the workmanship and the instillation crew was very friendly. My job was ordered through Home Depot where Stone Source was contracted as the fabrication / instillation company. There was an issue in regards to the required work that lead to some back and forth communication for a few weeks. I did have to request Home Depot escalate the issue when my original representative wasn't providing a solution, but eventually a new customer service representative, Brent, was able to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. read more

I am sorry to say that I would not recommend buying here unless you plan to spend a lot more than the original estimate. If you sign an estimate contract, they end up underestimating the total amount that you need, which ends up in an inflated price-much more than the original amount. If you change your mind a few days later, they charge you a ridiculous restocking fee, even though the slab was moved about 15 feet. They wouldn't release the slab for several weeks, then tried to say that the restocking fee was due to "losing a sale to someone else", and that I had "signed a contract". They also have sale price promotions, but if you don't sign that day, and come i the next, they won't give you the promotional price. We had a horrible experience with Stone Source. First, our initial estimate was wrong. They forgot to add in the desk area. They blamed our contractors but I saw the measurements provided as I asked for a copy so that I could price shop. It included the desk so unless our contractor provided something different to SS then this was a miss on their part. When SS came to measure they mentioned that they needed sink specs. Our contractors provided that. The day before install they said they needed the sinks on site to cut the granite so they would not be able to install as planned the next day. Our contractors left our existing sinks so we would not be without sinks while we waited. The next day they showed up with the granite to install even though we were told the day before they could not. The contractors removed the sinks and the installers realized they could not install. There was a miscommunication at SS and they forgot to take the counter tops off the truck and the installers where not aware of the situation. Now we are left with no sinks on our main or lower level. We had to insist they come out the next day to fix it. When they did, they installed the wrong granite in one bathroom. It took over a week for them to come back and install the right granite. We were also waiting on backsplash which we could not get an answer. We were told half was in then it turns out nothing was in and it was on back order. I called SS and talked Cora, the manager and asked her to take over as this project was getting out of control. She promised to call me that thurs. She even specifically asked if she should call me or my husband because he had called as well. I asked her to call me. She never called. I called and left a message and she never called. I called again and she told me she never said she would call me back and that I was not her customer, our contractor was. Unbelievable. They have my money and were in my home but don't consider me a customer. I asked to speak to the owner Len and she sent me to a different voicemail. Left a message there too and of course, no call back. I logged a complaint with the BBB and Stone Source rejected it again claiming I am not their customer. This speaks volumes about this company, the type of people that work there and the lack of "customer" focus. The main problem at this company is Cora. Most of the bad reviews mention her specifically. I can't imagine why this company keeps her around. There are so many stone and tile companies around to choose from. This business is run by an individual called Moin Siddique who has lied to me and my family for months, has taken our money, and will now not return it. He is a horrible person to deal with. He said he would be able to do some drawings for my internal wall that I wanted to knock down and then 'had a team' to knock the wall down. It turned out that his main project manager did not turn up as he was unwell and then he contracted the work out to someone we did not even know (and someone who Moin has never even met). When we said we didn't want to go ahead with the work anymore, Moin turned very nasty. He is a liar and has no idea how to run any business. 1) My friend recommended stone source because she knew the owner. I was not given any discount. I never met the owner. I cannot recommend this place based on the following. 2) The quote was to the wrong square feet even though I provided a detailed drawing. The laser measure did show some dimensions changed but the math still didn't add up. The amount was off by 5% which equated to over 200 extra dollars....this is 3square feet they were off. By the time I was informed of this it was too late to back out otherwise I would have incurred charges. 3) I asked at least 4 times to two different people to save the extra pieces from my slab. I called to remind them, emailed, as well as spoke in person about this. However, I was told the extra pieces broke and the sink cutout couldn't be found! The communication on this took 3 days with me calling multiple times. 4) Scheduling person was supposed to call me the afternoon before the install date to give me an install time. This did not occur so I called them and finally they called me back around 6pm for a noon install. Next day they showed up at 9AM! I told them they were not supposed to be there yet and they left. I called to confirm they were indeed coming back at scheduled time and they did. The install is outsourced and there were some communication issues with the installers. read more

Do not use Stone Source if you want timely, quality service. We have been thoroughly disappointed in this company. We only had granite installed in a small kitchen and it was an awful process. On the day of installation they called to explain that the sink counter granite was cracked. They tried to see if we would accept it. When we refused, we had to wait a day for another piece. When this was installed, it was discovered that it was thicker than the other pieces. The pieces were removed again and it took another 2 days before they had ground the piece down to the correct size. After installation, it was discovered that the hole they left for the faucet installation was too small. This meant that we had to buy another faucet. This was despite the fact that we had told them that we wanted to keep our original faucet and it had been left in the kitchen for them to guarantee the correct hole size. Be warned, if you use Stone Source it could be a much more expensive procedure than you anticipate. Also, we were not able to use our kitchen for 6 days! read more

We had two installers coming in: a very young one, who didn't seem to know what he was doing, and the senior one who didn't speak or understand English. I stepped out with the dog while they were removing our old countertop and sink. I came back in to the noise of gushing water. They were both trying to contain the hot water which was spraying from the under sink water pipe. The junior installer told me that he accidentally broke the pipe. I started panicking and screamed "We should shut the water!!!" To which he replied "Maybe we should". In the meantime kitchen ceiling and floors were getting soaking wet. I went downstairs to find that the water was running down through the ceiling, on walls, bed and soaking into carpet. I immediately called the office and explained the situation. The manager I spoke to was very dismissive and told me he had already spoken to the installers and they said "it wasn't that bad". When I insisted it was, he said he wanted to see it for himself. He came, had a look and told me to put a fan into downstairs room and bring the bed mattress out "to air". It was clear to me a little fan wouldn't do; as for the mattress "airing" - it was drizzling outside. I then got in touch with company's owner and he send "Service Master" to access the situation. They said they weren't sure if our brand new kitchen floor could be rescued (since there was A LOT of water) and put two suction mats on the floor and three industrial size fans in the house. The noise these fans were making was "uncomfortable" (to put it mildly) and they stayed with us for days. As the luck would have it, that very same weekend we had family arriving from overseas, who were supposed to stay in the downstairs bedroom, which was dry by then but in total disarray. Everything did get repaired (took weeks though) at the cost of Stone Source. However, I'm disappointed that for all this stress, inconvenience and hassle we weren't offered any compensation whatsoever. read more

We were very, very happy with the quality or the stone, the service we received by all of the employees including the installers and the price was comparable to other stone suppliers in the twin cities. Our sales person, Kim, rocked it! She showed us a high degree of knowledge, very helpful to us non-design / non-contractor / home owners. She never made us feel insignificant throughout the whole process. Kim even responded to my phone call when she was on vacation and was able to move our install up 5 days during a very busy season. She worked with us to optimize our design and stone usage. When the installers came they notice that not all of the cabinets were level and could jeopardize the stone performance over time. So they made a call to the store and the installers were able correct the cabinets and finished the install all within the scheduled time all while I was out of the country. Before the install, some people told me about the stone they purchased through discount centers and I felt like I made a mistake.
