Hes a one man mechanic who is also a big fan of social media (live by the sword die by the sword) & radio star (The Car Guru on Oldham's 96.2 The Revolution). Paul made me feel very much at easy today when dropping my car off. A Very friendly bloke who explains stuff in english & doesn't confuse you with mechanical jargon. He is also "Female Friendly" approved. As a driver i'm now glad i have found somewhere where i feel i won't be ripped off.

When I went in to get a front light fixed they noticed a back one was out also and replaced that; when I had to get a new battery it cost less than the AA guy quoted me for my car to be fixed at an AA suggested garage. Don't waste your money - stay well away…read more This outfit took £190 and failed to do the job that was requested - the dpf was blocked on a Vauxhall Insignia, I was told that £190 job would definitely sort out the problem, a number of weeks later and after doing no more than 100 miles the dpf filter remains blocked - I have a aa report to confirm this - this outfit claims they can clear a dpf filter with their so called chemicals - it has definitely not worked on my car - I have re contacted the business owner and he has refused to return to do the job again - avoid this company at all costs - they do not deliver on their promises - I am also contacting trading standards

I figured I'd give them a go and Chris managed to fit me in for a full service and MOT at short notice (and on a weekend too... amazing!) so 8am on the Saturday morning I set off... Carwurx is hidden away off kirkstall road behind Kwik Fit so you wouldn't really notice it if you weren't looking but once you're on Washington street it is easy to find as you just follow the road round. Chris quoted me a good £40-60 less than the other garages so (given my past experiences at the likes of Kwik Fit) I was expecting to turn up and find a load of extra charges on top of that or a long list of work that had to be done... But no! I was pleasantly surprised to be mistaken. I was only charged the amount quoted, all work done well and although I need my brake pads replacing at some point there was absolutely no pressure to have it done there and then and I got a quote for the work if I chose to have it done by Carwurx... which I probably will! Great service, great people, great price!... I think I've found my new garage :-)

I took my car with all its problems to Motor Marque and they did confirm that some of the problems did indeed need taking care but others were not necessary. This garage just seems to tell it like it is, I recently took my car in the a slight clicking noise while manoeuvring and was told that the problem would either cost me £110 to repair or £20 for the half hour it took to look it over. They told me that the problem could wait at least till my next MOT and maybe longer depending on how much i drive. Every time I've taken my car here it's come back sparky clean, it's valeted as far as i can tell no matter what they do. The pricing is pretty standard for a non dealer garage about £55 an hour, maybe a little more than a back street garage but not much. I keep going back so I'm speaking with my wallet.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming; they are helpful and have a high standard of customer care. They kept me informed of all the stages of the repair. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and definitely not condescending to the female species. They have a really comfortable seating area if you need to wait with refreshments available. I have AA car warranty policy and they were more than accommodative to deal with the paper work. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone.

That's to be expected in such a dealership to some extent, but when the place is backed up by poor customer service and sales tactics that I really don't like being on the wrong end of it sets Benfield Ford as a place to avoid if at all possible. Sadly some things on a Ford car can only be done by a registered Ford dealer, and on every occasion I have had to use Benfield Ford - both in their old showroom in Wetherby and here in Harrogate - I left with a bad taste in my mouth and a view that I had paid way more than I should have done. On one occasion in Wetherby a mechanic charged my wife £10 for the code to unlock her radio which had been disconnected from the battery for minor work (by Benfield Ford!) and therefore couldn't be used. That's very unprofessional and pretty dodgy in my book. On the last few occasions I have had to use the Harrogate branch when the work was completed I was handed a sheet of snags my car apparently had and which needed to be done. The last time one job was calculated to cost over £600, yet when I took my car to my regular mechanic (who I should add is absolutely brilliant) he was able to complete the same job for under £100. That's some saving and rather sums up my entire experience with Benfield. This place charged me for work that didn't need doing and even called me at a later date to try and persuade me to have more work done which wasn't required. Not a pleasant experience - far better to find a local mechanic by word of mouth than this charmless and thoroughly unreliable company.
