I only paid about $220 from Thursday night to Monday morning in Mid June for a queen size bedroom. The bedroom is decently comfortable. There is a bus number 3 to downtown that makes the hotel is convenient. The bus takes about 30-45 mins from the hotel to downtown. The down side of this hotel is that there are not a lot of restaurant around except Burger King and IKEA cafe. But the price of food in restaurant is not expensive as entrees on average is £15-30.

The staff are really on the ball and anticipated all my questions at check in before I had a chance to ask them. They gladly summoned cabs which arrived promptly whenever required and the rooms were simply marvellous. Here's a wee list of my rooms attributes: Comfy beds, free WiFi, in room safety deposit box, iron and ironing boards, oodles of storage, non-fogging bathroom mirror great bath shower and products, flat screen TV, room service, nespresso machine and kettle, shortbread and highland spring water, dressing gown, slippers and more. They thought of everything! There's a swimming pool too and a friendly if expensive bar, and a restaurant that I didn't try. Plenty of free parking. Hey there's even an IKEA across the roundabout if you get bored. Only downside for me came at breakfast which was decent enough, but one of the staff members was excessively dour, coffee was slow to arrive and our used plates were sometimes left to stack up. All in all we had a great stay and I would definitely recommend a stay if the out of town location suits. Vegetarians note they offer veggie sausages on the breakfast buffet menu but presume you have to make a point of asking for them to be cooked to order. I couldn't be bothered waiting and there were plenty of other options on days that clumsy guests hadn't spilled bits of haggis into the tomatoes beans and mushrooms. Oh the trials of being vegetarian lol!

The Cove Bay offered comfortable rooms with great service, in a quiet part of town. The ocean is just a quick jaunt from the front door, and the surrounding area is mostly quiet neighborhoods. Downtown is only a 15 minute drive along the coast. Downstairs, is a restaurant and pub. The food was always great (place was always busy at dinner service), and the staff were friendly and attentive. After long days, sitting in the pub knocking back pints and playing darts was something we looked forward to. Really felt like home. I'll miss it. Highly recommended.

On the way there we've thought of having lunch and we stopped on the White Cottage to check it out - we did not know anything about it. The place was packed (and it is in the middle of nowhere). Then by chatting to other people in the restaurant while waiting to be sited, we were informed that the owner is pretty popular and favorite to the public with fans following him around Aberdeenshire for more than 30 years now. He actually says that he would like to retire but the people do not allow him to do so! Well if someone is following you for more than 30 years, you defo are doing something well! The food was lovely we had the soup of the day (creamy crab) the tart (feta cheese with caramelized onions) and the curry (British carry medium hot). For dessert had the sticky toffee to share :) The ambiance is nice, romantic and a bit vintage with antiques being sold along with some jewelry... As one old lady told us "it is your first time here, dear, but will not be the last"...

It feels very cozy and takes you back in the history. The upper floor is more modern and kind a without soul. Not really my favourite style. Staff is friendly. A bit slow but it was crowded so it wasn´t so it was understandable. They have a plenty of high chairs, unfortunately still not enough. This place is very popular among families so we had to wait a bit for a high chair. But that´s not their fault so.... Food was really good, not amazing but very decent. The prices are less reasonable but I understand that it´s a place mainly for tourists so that´s something what man can expect. Beer is very good. I guess I would come back when I am in Stonehaven again.

I might just be the typical American who found herself in love with a charming, quaint Scottish town ... then again, I can be pretty particular about my experiences while travelling, and I'm glad to report this hotel exceeded my expectations. My room (#9) had a fantastic view of the town and was extremely clean, and the historic nature of the building only adds to its appeal. I can't say enough good things about the food (especially the cullen skink, ploughman's salad, and porridge), which was served to us in the in-hotel restaurant. There's free wi-fi available in the fireplace-warmed lobby, and the pub downstairs provided a cozy, friendly atmosphere. Likewise, our meeting room overlooking the beer garden was cozy, but not too small, and the skylights gave lots of beautiful, natural light. The service was fantastic, too.
