I don't ever post negative reviews, however today is the exception. Horrible experience at deli counter. 9AM, not many people in store, 4 people behind deli, no-one so much as acknowledges me for at least 5 minutes, with one clerk less than 5 feet away. Gentleman (another customer) approaches me to ask if I'm all set, I say no. Finally the young woman looks up, walks to me, doesn't so much as say "hello, what can I get for you?" I ask for Stop & Shop brand honey turkey. She points to the wrong one in deli case, and I say no, the one above that. She goes looking for an open turkey and comes back and says, we're all out. I point to deli case and say, no you're not, there's one right there. She proceeds to roll her eyes, grabs the turkey in a huff and goes out back to open package. The whole time she didn't acknowledge me, or say "can I get you anything else." She hands me the turkey and just walks away..... WTF??? read more

It's well stocked always and very clean! They also have pretty good deals. Unfortunately the staff aren't even polite let alone helpful or friendly. Great supermarket music playlist and the bakery puts out good stuff. There's self checkout so you don't really need to interact with the staff much, and the meat/seafood counter folks are lovely on their own. Overall can't complain! Also they often put plants in sale just for looking sad so I love rescuing them with some water at home! read more

Quite possibly the worst store in the chain. I visited on Saturday afternoon around 2 and it took longer to pick up a few items then it took to do my complete shopping at Market Basket. As always it is stocked like a store the day after a blizzard. The vegetables I needed, tomatoes for one were gone entirely. Most likely never there as has been the case in the past. No matter what aisle i went down the shelves were bare. There were several things we couldn't get yet when we went to the Shaws about a two miles away the shelves were full and they had everything! So we go to check out. I like the self checkout because it's faster and, at this place more friendly. 4 out of 8 of the machines were out of service. I know this software and it's remarkable easy to care for. I've asked about this in the past (seeing 50% or more of the machines being down is not uncommon) and i was told they were down for maintenance. Why are you doing that on what is normally your busiest day of the week? The line when we left was down to the bakery. (50 feet maybe?) They had all of two registers open. That's right 2!!! The lines were well down the aisle and the cashiers there bring un-friendly to a new level. Stop & Shop has given up on this store. They have another one 2 miles away, near the Shaws and they care about that one but not this one. Don't waste your time. Go to Market Basket, but if you're stuck avoid this one entirely and go to the other one. read more

You can buy apples, bread, candy, danishes, eggs, fish, granola, hummus, ice cream, jimmies, Klondike bars, lemonade, meat, nectarines, orange juice, pineapple, quinoa, rice, sausage, toilet paper, unsalted nuts, vinegar, waxy beans, xanthan gum (in other foods), yucca, and zucchini. The employees there are super rude, I had three negative encounters while there but the third one sent me over the edge. I had to call management on the last employee I encounter. I said excuse me to her because self checkout was acting up and she ignored me 2 times. I said excuse me one more time and her response was "WHAT"! To say I was floored and beyond irritated is an understatement. I countered with, "Did you just say what"? Her reply was "Yeah what do you want"! Her attitude was just nasty. The manager apologized and she was a very nice lady so I did appreciate that however I would never go to that location again and it's sad because Stop & Shop is my absolute favorite supermarket. read more

Worst store I've been in across the country. I have seen the same pack of frozen Salmon with a sell by date of Feb 2023 for weeks now. Stock levels are horrendous, staff even worse. Was served by someone this week who had his hood up, and on his phone while ringing in my groceries. It's laughable how bad this store is on every single aspect. I came here recently for the lobster sale and got the most unexpected service. I hope for Stop and Shop to be able to check in on their employees to make sure they are protected, going through as less stress as possible, and doing well as they are going into work during this pandemic. I understand that admist the pandemic, everyone is stressed. Everyone is wearing masks in the store, with all the sounds around us, its makes communications more challenging than usual. I walked up to the counter and said "May I get 2 lobsters please" "Thanks!". I did not expect the response of this young man to be "I didn't even say or do anything, why are you thanking me?" With the masks on, sounds around, and his delay in response, he looked like he could've been talking, I couldn't hear and just assumed it would be fine to reply with a "thank you". I then told him "Sorry I couldn't hear" and he cuts me off with "I didn't even say anything. You people are always like this!" and goes off rambling more. I'm sure he didn't mean to lash out as we did end the conversation on a better note about the lobster sales. The purpose of this post was not to complain about the employee but to hope for companies like Stop and Shop to check in on their employees and to make sure theyre okay and cared for during these times! If he had stayed here long enough to be able to recognize sales differences, I'm sure he's a good employee, please make sure to care for them. I personally have worked for large corporations and have seen first hand that store associates lack some care from their home office. Please make sure to check on your store employees! read more

No sanitizing wipes for the carts c'mon with what's going on. Then the reason I went was for 3 items on sale...surprise surprise not 1 pkg of chicken not one pkg of the sausages and finally they had the last item. This was yesterday and lo and behold as I write this just after going to open the pkg I notice the expiration date was 6 days ago. For a company that barely stocks their shelves you'd expect cookies to be fresh. I know this sounds petty but shopping is a once in a week to 2 for me. I don't have the time. I've been on hold with the store going on 15 minutes and nobody has picked up. You know someone can here it. Sorry but I'd starve before going to this location again. Never really realized this store had so many complaints! I come here out of convenience so basically this is all I know besides Russo's. The only complaint that I have is the Deli dpt. Some of those employees need continuous training. If you're not on top of them they'll slice you floor tiles. Another thing, perhaps have the employees smoke butts away from the main entrance? I rarely review stores but this needs to be brought to managements attention. Nearly every time I go to this stop and shop items either ring up more expensive than they are listed, or advertised sales are not applied after scanning a member card. Literally almost every time this happens. Today skittles were supposed to be 2 for $5 and they rang up as 2 for $7. Last time tonic water six packs said but one get one free but they rang up with no sale. The time before that van leeuwen ice cream said on sale 2 for $10 and they rang up with no sale. And these are just ones I've noticed! It's literally getting to the point where I'm going to need to calculate what my total should be as I shop so I don't get scammed at checkout. And to reiterate, yes this is all after using a member card and clicking finish and pay or whatever. PRICES AT CHECKOUT NEED TO MATCH WHAT THEY SAY IN THE STORE!!!!! read more

Stay away. Went in a day after getting scallops to get a refund as when i cooked them they smelt and tasted like ammonia. After doing some research I found that this is from decomposition. My wife got very ill and had to miss work the next day. I was refereed to John Brick the manager their and wow he could not have been more dismissive and rude. Told the clerk to give me a stop n stop card with the amt of the scallops and i asked what about all the other ingredients and said only the scallops were bad. He was so rude I could not believe he actually has a job as a manager. The clerk, Pompeo was kind and handled the situation very professionally. The layout of this store is awful, the produce is average, and its sales are pathetic. My complaint, however, is the deli. They pretty much only have Boar's Head products, and for some unknowable reason the prices are jacked up through the roof. At least $2 more per pound than Shaw's. The corned beef? $10 bucks a pound! Corned beef that expensive better be made by monks to justify that price. I tend to go here because it is a block from Russo's, and they have the things that the 5-Star Russo's lack. That is a mistake that I should really stop making. They earn a star for having a citizen's bank and a dunkin donuts on the premises, though. read more

This is by far the worst Stop n Shop I have been to. Not necessarily because of the stock, though it is surprisingly lacking for the area, but due to checkout times. It can take 10 minutes to use self checkout because there is always an issue with the computer, and the one person who is assigned to fix these issues doesn't know what they are doing. You would think that having almost all the self and assisted checkout lanes open would fix checkout times, but you would be wrong. The lines for every lane are always 3-4 deep no matter how many are open. If you have a chance, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. read more

Every time I go to the recycle center at this location the recycle machines are always full. Trying to find someone to empty them is nearly impossible. When someone finally does decide to come out they don't empty the bins in the machines they simply shake them to redistribute the material so the bins will take a few more bottles and cans and they are full again. I also find that the produce selection in this store to be sub-par at best. Compared to other stop and shops that I have been to, their produce seems to be on average a day or so from rotting. Why is the frozen food section in the middle of the store? When trying to order deli it appears that the attendants would rather be anywhere else than working and they have no problem about letting you know that you have inconvinced them with your store brand cheese order (which they were out of at the time). However, this store tends to have lower prices on dry foods like pasta than other s&s. The only reason I keep coming back to this location is because of convenience. read more

The stop and shop at this location is nicely organized. I can find my basics and then some more premium gourmet selections I enjoy without having to drive to a specialty grocer to get them. My thoughts are that the employees could be a little more friendly, however, sometimes I do get some good help finding items I am searching for and don't feel as thumb I am hassling them to ask for help. The Spanish and Asian sections are complete and have unique items that sometimes other stores do not have. I used to have to drive to Framingham to get some of the Spanish items I crave, but here they have some good stuff. read more

The system where you carry the scanner around with you (I forget their name for it) is still useful for getting out in a hurry, but I've often found scanners all taken or out of order. Sometimes the handles are greasy from fat slobs who carry them around and sweat all over them on hot summer days. Eww! I still use the scanners, but the part that REALLY annoys me is that you'll be walking along and hear a "KA-CHING" really loudly. A coupon pops up on the scanner's screen...not for something you just got, but for something completely unrelated that you're probably not interested in. I try to cover the speaker on the back of the thing with a finger so that the KA-CHING is not so damn loud. Also, don't forget to scan something before putting it in your bag since it becomes a royal pain at checkout. (It's easy to forget since you're probably like me and you've spent your whole life NOT scanning things before bringing them to the register.) Finally, why is the frozen food in the middle of the store? Makes no sense to me. Put it at the end so you can get your ice cream right before going to the register...not halfway through your shopping experience so that it's melted by the time you get to the register. read more

REMODEL! Looking at the pictures here on Yelp, I thought this would have been one of those old, desperate-in-need-of-remodel stores. YET, to my surprise it was far from that, it was the "longest" (shall I say) Stop&Shop, I've been to, with 17 doubly long aisles, a Dunkin Donuts, a Watertown Savings Bank, a Citizens Bank, and a HUGE Florist & Grab&Go Section. The store was in fact remodeled, was immaculate, and had those amazing scanner guns that I LOVE. Deli employees were friendly and the entire Deli / Meat / Seafood / Produce area had all completely fresh food, at great prices. Yeah, some of the prices were higher than my normal Stop&Shop, much farther west, but it's the city so whatever. Employees Ollia & Kat (front end management) were both amazing. Both friendly, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about the stores policies and moving the checkout line along quickly. I will be looking forward to returning. For a plus (for a "city" store), the parking lot is gigantic! 5 stars. read more

One of the better local grocery stores in the Watertown Square area. It offers a clean space, with great selection of items at reasonable to low prices. Stop and Shop Originated in Massachusetts, so you would expect them to show their pride and keep the store up to date? This stop and shop needs some lovin! Yes, the freezer is in the middle of the store, but that's the company's fault, not the employees. I'm sure they themselves aren't fond over it either. I particularly like that as your grabbing your frozen pizza's you can check out the card section. Because that's what i think when i'm looking for a frozen pizza. However I do prefer this stop and shop, they have a great clearance section that doesn't empty out as quick since no one probably goes here. As well as comparing their meat cuts, this store's meat always seems fresher and more presentable than at other stores. The employees are decent. I've been here on several occasions and it felt as if i spent most of the time on line when they weren't even busy it was just a very slow cashier. Depending on who the front end manager is, they are okay with catching it on time and just as you are fed up someone comes and opens a register. Once this past winter i was searching for a roast and the meat cutter was more than helpful with advice on what cuts and even willing to take a cut and cut it smaller. I know that's their job, but it's rare you hear of someone going out of there way to help you and offering. Customer service is always really helpful, however like all stop and shops you might have to wait on line. At this stop and shop every time i need customer service their always seems that there is someone returning or arguing with someone that they hold up the line for a bit, but alas we can't review customers and their actions as consumers. All in all this stop and shop is well run, there shelves have products on them consistently and if you think about it, its a chain grocery store.... how much are you expecting? Stop and Shop has the gas points, which If you shop there enough and keep track when they expire, can really add up to a great savings. Once i racked them up and got 50cents off! WIN!! This Stop and Shop has a Citizens bank and Dunkin Donuts inside, as well as is attached to Watertown savings bank. Most convenient if you are a patron to those banks. Since no one hates Dunkin Donuts, grab a coffee, power shop, don't stop for the line by grabbing a scan it thing and go about your day/night. **also to Patrick D. You can get to and from the store via Watertown St. or California St., which is convenient. The parking lot's a free-for-all near the front of the store, but if you don't mind walking a bit, there're always plenty of spots open farther out. Both entrances have two sets of doors; one set marked "in," and the other marked "out." But sometimes people walk in the out doors, which is really annoying. I like the dunkin donuts in the southwestern corner of the store...much better service than the other dunkin donuts near me. I wish the self-serve station at the deli were open later. By the time I get off work, and get to the store, they've already shut it down for the day. But the frozen food selection is better than you'll find elsewhere. The hand dryer in the bathroom is so low-powered, they might as well just hire a guy to stand there and blow on your hands. Haven't tried the mobile scanners yet, but I'm curious to give them a shot. No shortage of self-checkout options, although people are bad about following the 12 items or less rule, especially when the store is busy. The checkout lines back up like crazy on Sunday throughout the middle of the day. The employees are generally nice and helpful. One time I wanted an out-of-season item, that I couldn't find on the shelves, so the manager went to the back of the store himself and got it for me. The prices are good, and so is the selection. This large supermarket almost gets five stars for having burgundy cooking wine. It seems to have more of everything, so there's a good chance you'll find some sales. And if you really need a fix, you can have some Dunkin Donuts while you shop. That said, I still prefer the Belmont Shaw's for regular shopping... I came in on a Sunday and there were barely any cash registers open, and for those that were opened had no baggers. So all the customers ended up bagging their own bags.There was only 1 person working at the customer service doing all the returns/ exchanges. The line was ridiculously long. This Super Stop & Shop is a bit too "super" for me, in terms of how easy it is to get lost in, given its immense size and its not-so-clear layout. But I do get most of my shopping needs met here, its discounts are plentiful, it's handy to walk to from my home, and its new and updated bottle and can redemption center is another plus. read more

This is my fave supermarket and it is probably only because of the handheld scanners. The produce department is pretty good, but often expensive. The deli is crazy, all the time. And the meats selection is fair at best. I go here because its fast and easy, but I may need to rethink my decision. read more
