Looking for…read moresome instruments for my kids, I had walked by this store a number of times thinking that the range would be far too expensive. Boy was I wrong. Having been dragged in a few times by my kids who wanted to play with the guitars and keyboards, I found that the staff were always friendly and helpful (which must be hard when kids are running round the store playing with everything...). Best of all, the focus was less on selling the most expensive item, instead trying to match the instrument with the person. In any case, when I walked out of here with a keyboard and a guitar (that they tuned and threw in a couple of picks for free), my boys were totally impressed. Will certainly be back.

We were there to pick up a turntable, of all things, as after being separated from them for 15 years, my vinyl LPs have been returned! (Yes, I am writing this listening to Daddy Cool, Split Enz,The Band, The Last Waltz... Don't you be hating on me!) I was actually taken aback by the huge range of turntables available. Varying in style, size and price range, going from around $150 to just over $400. Who would have imagined there was such a demand?! I was also surprised, but probably should not have been, that most of these turntables come with Bluetooth, usb ports, phone docking stations etc. Of course, you'd expect that now I'd guess. We ended coming home with a funky little retro style player, and I am rather happy with it.

But why did it take me forever to find a staff member who was willing to go get a ladder to bring down a camera tripod that I wanted to buy? And why did she snarl at me as if I was lucifer incarnate, and end up being so dismissive as to provide negative customer service? I mean negative as in... negative. It was Customer Service with a minus sign in front of it. Hell I just spent $200 in your store. You could at least give me the time of day. I have said before that I'm a customer service whore, and I am. I love good customer service. It's my red-light district in life, and I'm proud to give it, and receive it (baby!) ---(does that make me a "versatile" customer server? LOL?) But get with the program. I'm sick of walking into these stores and being accosted by Gen Y attitudes. There I said it. Am I going to be a grumpy old man? Yes. Will I be proud to be a grumpy old man. Yes. Am I already a grumpy old man? Probably. Especially when I spend money in a store and get treated like shit. And whats with the store layout? (I do understand - the question is rhetorical). I absolutely hate (read HATE) having to walk to the very back of the store to purchase something that I bought at the front of the store. Score one for forced-impuse-browse-and-buy, but score ZERO for the blokes (like me) who just wanna get in and out of a place.

They sell strings and percussion and have a small recording tech area where they stock the usual suspects.. mics and software etc... Big Music is cool... but it's not that cool... It's not boutique.. It's not high end... They do sell Gretch though... mmm white falcon.... I get the idea that there main business is up stairs where they have EXTENSIVE teaching facilities. Lots of rooms to learn what ever you want.. prices are reasonable .. I guess... and they also have a not too bad recording studio down stairs out the back with a Toft ATB 24 channel console and a few iso rooms.. ( with low ceilings ) to record in.... Newly built and I've heard good things about it from a few songwriters. My vote is this.. They're local and I can get stuff there... hopefully... But if I want something High end... It's not my first pick.. but I'll drop by to check it out... P.S they have a great guitar tech who actually cares about the guitars he fixes

The rest of the staff are fantastic, always happy to help and they make a great effort to be accommodating. If you can already play, there are production studios and performance spaces available to rent. They'll even organize a band for you to jam with if you like. Highly recommend for learning to play!

She was so kind and patient and helped me understand the way a piano works and what I should look for in a Piano before making a purchase. I was then introduced to the various brands on offer like Kawai and Yamaha. I explained I had seen a Roland and interested in purchasing that or an equivalent model in another brand. Over the phone, they discussed 4 different models and helped me select and narrow down my choice. I am also offered a guaranteed price beat on any competitors product and they are also going to offer free shipping inspite of me living in a second floor apartment with no lift. That is truly amazing. I cannot wait to go in store and test the different piano's to feel which one suits me best. I am more than impressed with their telephonic service and if their in store service is just as good, this place will definitely get my 5 stars!
