I had a little bit of a medical emergency and need to see my eye doctor ASAP! I called her to find…read moreout she was on medical leave. I was frantically trying to find somewhere to go because I had been going to the same eye doctor for 15 years! Luckily i remembered Heritage Eye Care. It is conveniently located at the corner of Markham Road & 16th Avenue. With all the traffic going on at that intersection, you can't miss it while you're waiting for the light to change. Even better for me, it was a very short 7-8 minute drive from my house. I called to see if i could get an appointment the next day. Thankfully, they were able to get me in within the hour. A few things that really stood out for me about Heritage Eye Care: They are open evening & weekends (10-3 on Saturday's!), conveniently located near transit, kid friendly and up to date equipment that my former eye doctor wasn't even using yet because she was so old school. The Optometrist I saw (Dr. Trinh) was very professional, informative and gave me some very helpful and crucial information for eye care. I ended up having to go to a hospital to see an Opthalmologist. He didn't just suggest MSH, but he referred me to one where i could get in immediately to have my eye concerns addressed immediately. For that i am so thankful (I called to thank them!). I no longer go to my Optometrist in North York and will be switching my hubby & kids over to Heritage Eye Care. **Yes, parking can be a bit of a problem, but The Garden Basket Plaza is across the street with a lot of parking spaces**

The ladies in the reception acknowledge me as I walked in and guided me through right away. The appointment was on time. Price was average to me. Dr Trinh was the one who took care of me and he was very patient. I asked him many eye related questions and he would answer them all. That is the reason why I went back when my eye was not feeling well few weeks ago and also had my eye exam done there last week. I highly recommend this place! The only con is the location as it is located right on Markham Rd and 16th, it can be hard to get in during rush hour as traffic is very busy.

Eye exam was adequate but a little annoying as I didn't want dilating drops or the eye pressure…read moreexam. (Had both on the last visit). I have requested not to receive these tests on every exam. I was disappointed with prescription glasses I ordered. They smudge and get dirty constantly. They are loose and seem to be poor quality. I wasn't asked if I wanted any upgraded coating or anti-glare lenses. My insurance would have covered just about anything up to my limit. I was only at 1/2 of the coverage. They were totally loose when I picked them up and have not stayed tight whatsoever. My pair from 5 years ago are better quality than these 'new' ones. I've never had such a poor quality pair of glasses. $250 should buy fairly good glasses. After the exam, I looked at the glasses for sale and was totally pressured into purchasing from them from their office. I looked for less than a minute on my own and then was bombarded with 'help' choosing the pair they suggested for me. The receptionist and other staff member decided to assist me (without me wanting them to). I had already pulled 4-5 pairs out of the whole lot and they kept suggesting other styles, colours and shapes. I never need or want help from strangers when deciding on glasses or clothing, etc. I was totally annoyed wasting my time trying on the frames 'they' picked and did not care about the type I wanted. Coloured frames, etc. I didn't want to be rude and basically said I was fine looking on my own. I never ask for outside help and don't enjoy trying on things for others to comment on. I was tired and finally just picked a pair I thought would be adequate. Even then, they commented that the frames were too big for my face! It's partially my fault for not saying anything and avoiding a conflict. I will likely go elsewhere for all future eye appointments and glasses purchases.

Needless to say I could not see properly and was living off my contacts. Anyways I found a groupon online for Vision express and could not pass it up. I called in before to confirm how the groupon worked and the guy who answered the phone was super nice and explained exactly how it would work. I went in and I was the only customer in there but I expected that based on location and time. The guy working who's name I did not get got up and helped me immediately. Let me walk around and try on all the different pairs of glasses and find my own frame. He didn't try to push me or upsell me on the frames outside of my groupon. I told him I had a groupon and he was totally cool about it. He was super accommodating and patient with me. It did kind of get awkward since I was the only one in there but he wasn't staring me down or anything. I'm just awkward. There was a huge selection of different frames and brands. Prices for frames ranged from $200 up to $500. Then the lenses were another cost not covered by the groupon so I had to pay for that. The lenses ranged from 200-400 depending on your prescription. All in all I found a pair of glasses I liked. Price was good especially with the groupon. Glasses should arrive in less than a week. Nothing to complain about ...yet.
