Strom Spa Nordique is right on the St. Lawrence River in Quebec and offers many types of massages, pedicures and manicures in addition to the basic entry option. To kick off our maximum relaxation day, my friends and I got lunch here and then got a massage before checking out the amenities of the spa. The basic Swedish massage was great! I enjoyed all of the heated pools, infinity pool, relaxation rooms with a fireplace, and cold plunges. There were so many cold plunges all around. I enjoyed the hammocks, various types of swings, infrared lounge chairs. It was nice seeing so many people relaxing there reading their paper books. We were bummed the lazy river was closed while we were there, but will definitely check out Strom Spa again next time we're around! read more

You need to prepare to spend at least 3 hours if you want anytime to relax.. we only had 2 hours and didn't get to use any relaxation rooms. We loved every part of it! I had the BEST time here. We came here in the morning, so it wasn't too crowded. The cost was $94 CAD. There is a discounted price of $59 CAD if you come in the evening. After we checked in and got our locker keys, we went to get our bathrobe and towel. In the locker rooms, there are bathrooms, changing rooms, and showers. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hairdryers and flat irons are available. I arrived at the same time as two others, and our lockers were right next to each other. It was kind of hard to put my stuff away. I wish they spaced the lockers out. You are meant to have a relaxing time, so talking is discouraged and phones are not allowed. There are "2 Finnish saunas; 2 eucalyptus steam baths; 3 hot baths; 3 cold baths; 4 indoor relaxation rooms; 1 flotation bath; 1 temperate pool (infinity pool); 1 lazy river (Strøm River); outdoor relaxation areas." We also discovered a room with infrared chairs. The infinity pool faces the St. Lawrence River. Guests use the pool noodles to float in the "lazy river" that has water jets propelling them around. The temperatures of the baths were displayed, so you know what you're getting yourself into. I enjoyed most of it, but I only managed to dip my legs into the cold baths. Afterwards, we made our way to their restaurant, Nord, for lunch. Reservations can be when you first check into the spa. I ordered the trout gravlax. It was a light meal, but yummy. Before leaving, I took a shower. I liked how there is a space in the shower for you to change and hang your belongings. In all, we spent almost 4 hours here. While researching for things to do in Quebec, I came across Strom Spa Nordique on a YouTube vid and I knew I had to make a visit.  We also got lucky that there was a promo online for Buy 3 get 1 free entrance so our group of 4 took advantage of it on our trip.  My favorites were the heated lazy river where you can use foam pool noodles, the Infinity pool overlooking the Saint Laurent River, the various hot baths and this hidden indoor room with heated chairs. The guys in our group did try the cold baths for fun, which was NOT a good idea. They ended up screaming like little girls and we got a warning to get kicked out of the spa.  Apology to the patrons that day! We spent about 3 hours here trying all the pools and different rooms. If we had more time on our trip we would have definitely booked a massage.  I highly recommend Strom Spa to chill, relax and rejuvenate.  They do provide lockers, a bathrobe, and a towel.  Do bring slippers, a water bottle, and change of clothing.  We didn't have a car on this trip, so unfortunately we had to walk back up a very long flight of stairs to get back up the hill, therefore plan accordingly. read more

Première déception. la deuxième est que je suis allée au toilette et dans ma cabine, il n'y avait AUCUN papier de toilette !! J'ai dû crier à ma chum de venir me donner du papier, PAS GÉNANT PENTOUTE Par la suite, nous avons passé un bon moment mais pas optimal car il y avait tellement de monde, que même si tu voulais relaxer les vas et viens, porte qui ouvre et ferme. I want to give a fair review, having been to Iceland spas just this past November. But I feel this could be a lovely spa if there were a few changes. Checking in was tough. There were 3 attendants and they are catered to the premium line while the check in line was 20 ppl deep. Information of the spa. They didn't really tell you what was available or even give you a map? Odd bc you have to basically walk around in the cold and figure it out. Just made the experience not as pleasant. My number one suggestion. Ppl are wearing their shoes in the bathroom and showers and everywhere ? It was gross really bc a lot of ppl were not wearing shoes either and it took away from the clean spa experience. Spas should prohibit shoes in clean areas like the spa and bathroom. Lastly... ppl steal robes and you can't talk at all. The water was warm. The eucalyptus mist sauna was nice. read more

Very mixed on this place. The location is beautiful and kept clean. I had issues booking on the website so I went in to book for the next day, I went with a spa package to get the most bang for my buck. When I arrived to check in the front desk staff was extremely rude, and annoyed with the few questions I asked. With very little guidance you have to wander around to find everything. I had a Swedish massage and basic facial, both were great, and that staff was friendly. The restaurant was extremely slow, beware it took an hour and a half, and all I had was soup and a salad. A couple things to note: - do not shave before hand, the salt exfoliation and floatation pool will sting - bring sandals - they only provide 1 towel as part of the package, so that's for all the pools/spas and if you want to shower after - bring a reusable water bottle to refill through out the day All in all it was a beautiful place and I would recommend but just be prepared. read more

It looks and sounds incredibly luxurious but the entire start and end to the day was less to be desired and that's due to the long lineup to just get in followed by the out of service everything in the change rooms. The overall spa itself once you're in is great, lots of different pools, saunas, scrubs, views, etc! My favourite little spot was the outdoor fireplace while sipping on hot tea after a pool dip. The reason for the three star is this experience left me feeling like there were so many missed opportunities for this spa to be incredible. Let's talk about the line up first! We arrived to the spa 40 mins early (yes we had a reso at 7pm) and to our surprise the line up to just get in was out the door, it felt like a public pool, not a spa. Thank goodness we arrived when we did because the line took the full 40 mins to get through! The system is so poor, there were three attendants checking this massive line in, but then one attendant kept having to hop over to the check out line as people had to pay outstanding fees so now we're down to two people. These ladies also were the ones who had to hand everyone towels and their robes and explain where the change rooms were which again no wonder the slow line. This spa needs more staff and help and while these attendants did a great job and remained calm I couldn't help but feel badly for them as they just never had a lull in the line. This is also the very first impression of the spa which is not a good one, it made me feel really apprehensive that the $60 we spent for the experience was gonna be a crowded sardine experience. Thank goodness the facilities are as big as they are as this didn't end up happening. The bathrobes also need some TLC, they're thin and clearly have been through the wash so much that they aren't entirely comfy. You're also given only one towel that get soaked throughout the visit because you're in and out of pools, this is also the towel you're meant to use to shower with as there are no additional towels in the change room. Now let's talk about the change rooms, everything was pretty much out of order or broken. I went to shower and when I got into it, both the shampoo and condition push buttons were broken so alas no shampoo or conditioner came out. I noticed someone before me had broken the tops off in desperation to wash their hair and so I followed suit lifting up the top cover and grabbing at the mound of shampoo and conditioner - this was such a budget experience. Then I had to dry myself with my sopping wet towel lol. After the shower I was so excited to test the spa products in the bathroom as most great spas have lotion and product to test so you're likely to buy some on the way out, but not Strom! They had one small push lotion that had absolutely zero scent and felt like it was purchased from a drug store. I was so disappointed by this. I also turned to grab a drink of water but nope, the fountain was out of order. It's misses like this that totally downgrade the experience which is such a drag as it's meant to be entirely relaxing. My advice to Strom is market your product in the bathrooms so people can try it out as intended and be inclined to buy it so you can make more to hire more staff to check people in. Or take a page out of the Nordic spa book where the wristbands are digital and for any additional purchase your card automatically gets charged etc. this way you don't have to have an attendant for check out. Also fix things in the change rooms and provide one shower towel for people to dry themselves with. read more

We reserved our nonrefundable, non changeable evening thermal experiences online for the evening rate. We did not pay ahead. There was ample parking. There were only a few people in line, on a holiday Monday, Quebec Day, in late June. The line did go slowly, not sure why. They did try to charge us the full day rate but upon explaining that our nonrefundable reservations were for the evening rate and checking with a manager, they did respect the evening rate. We got one robe and one towel (which could be traded any time for a dry towel) plus a wrist band with our locker key. The locker rooms were fine. The entire spa was not crowded on this summer holiday evening from about 5 - 8 PM. Towards 8 PM, there were many couples which changed the vibe a little towards date night. We went from lazy river, hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, hot pools (mostly 98f, one was 102f to cold plunges (the 55f plunge was closed, the others 60f and 65f) and relaxation areas. The weather outside was very comfortable; I'm not sure what it would be like if the outdoor temperature was much colder as many of the relaxation areas were outside. All of the thermal experiences are outside so walking from a sauna to a cold plunge is outside. The spaces were clean and comfortable. The shampoo, conditioner, and soap dispensers were broken with the top lid ajar. I'd bring my own next time or just plan to rinse off only. We left our phones in the lockers. There were a few people with phones here and there. A couple people had books to read in the relaxation areas. It was relaxing to be phone-free though. People generally respected the silent and whisper-only signs though I could see it being noisier if it was much more crowded. Great experience, would go again. Had a great time. You get a key and locker. The locker rooms have showers, restrooms, blow dryers, and straighteners. There's a ton of pools and saunas and rooms to chill in or try. People brought books to read in some the lounges. Can't have phones out taking pictures. Every once in a while someone would come around and tell you to stop. Got a massage also and it did have a tip envelope for after which I wasn't accustomed to or was expecting, but bring cash I guess if you want to tip. Overall a great experience. read more

Thermal experience itself was incredible - the dry and steam saunas, cold plunges, and hot baths, as well as the aesthetic of it all were wonderful. Tea infusions are delicious and soothing to drink. Didn't care too much for the infrared chair experience though, but that's just me. For the negatives (1) the heat lamps were not warm at all, leaving the hanging towels/robes soaking cold and wet. (2) Considering the large crowds permitted in per day, there should be staff reminding people to keep their voice levels down. (3) The three step facial routine is great but should be offered (or offered again) in the bathrooms to remoisturize after showering at the end. (4) The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner smell good but are absolutely poor quality and wash away the entire allure of the preceding spa experience.... Extremely drying and no moisturizers provided to apply afterwards (see point 3). If I had known that this spa (!!!) does not provide moisturizer, I would've packed my own serums. (5) Staff are sort of absent... very slow and artificial. (6) The map is extremely confusing and there is no way (without wandering around) to know what is where in order to plan things in an appropriate order. (7) There should be more clocks everywhere so that clients can keep track of how long they've been in a particular area, both for their own health and to be considerate of others who are waiting to enjoy certain experiences - staff should also help reminding people to move things along in highly congested areas. This has to be the best STROM location ever! It's set on the edge of the cliff overlooking the mighty St Lawrence river. Hang out at the edge of the 37C infinity pool and watch the various vessels cruise by from huge cargo and cruise ships to zippy speedboats and seadoos. Or if you feel like being in a river yourself, grab a noodle and bob along the lazy river with a couple of water jet alcoves. The place is clean, spacious and has numerous installations that just make sense! If you happen to be in Quebec City, I definitely recommend scheduling at least a half day there!! read more

Others have commented on the online/"gift certificate" problems. I wish they would fix it. I wonder if it's just the Englais site? We had a very helpful person at the front desk. We did have to wait a little bit to get in but once in, we didn't have any problems. We did make a reservation for dinner, but the only reason we ate there was because we didn't have a car to drive ourselves around. It would've cost a lot to leave the place just for dinner and come back. Entrees were pricey but we ordered a few appetizers and it wasn't too bad. We purchased the after 5pm Mon-Thurs package and went on a Thurs. Lots of workers but I didn't see anyone cleaning the locker/bath rooms. Could've used one or two attendants. Also you can grab lots of towels but we were told only one robe per person per trip. Keep it dry when you can. The infinity hot tub was great but we loved the flotation pool. I was concerned when online said to keep talking to a minimum in this pool but it was very relaxing with music in the water HOWEVER there was a man/couple who were talking and splashing while we were trying to float/relax. It was very disturbing and there was no workers there to enforce the rules. When I say disturbing I mean he was BLOWING HIS NOSE over and over again. My god man ewwww!!! Bring shower flip flops, I did everything in my power to not walk on the floors with bare feet or touch anything in the changing rooms/showers. Disappointment = Expectation - Reality. I expected calm serenity in a clean efficient environment. What I got was an hour wait to even get to the locker room. I got an arrogant employee who was supposed to check me in and ignored me completely as I stood in front of him waiting. Said he thought I was waiting for the employee next to him. That terminal had been empty the entire time. I also got a disorganized locker room with dirty bathrooms. Finally I got to the actual experience which was good. Not amazing, but good. This is the best spa you can ask for. When it's -12C outside and you dip yourself in 40C of hot water overlooking the partially frozen Fleuve Saint-Laurent with chunks of icebergs in it.... what more do you want? This place has only been open for 3 months but it's already packed with people. If you come before 11am and after dark the rates are cheaper. But even regular price was around 50 cad so it wasn't bad at all! I only had the basic Thermal Experience which gave me access to all the pools and saunas, minus the floating room. You can customize what you want and add massage, facial, body treatment, meals, drinks, etc. but the cheapest price to get in is 39 cad with non peak hours. They had several hot pools of different temperatures and few cold pools. For the authentic Nordic experience, you're supposed to soak in hot water for 15 mins and dip in the cold for 10 secs then relax to fulfill a cycle. It was so cold nobody really used the cold pool lol. There were also wet and dry saunas and rooms with either lounge chairs and hanging wick chairs to relax. I'll leave the rest for you to discover. Every spot had a pleasant surprise! It's really like a spa wonderland and a semi water park for adults!!! I heard they spent 20 million on the renovation. The other spa in the forest used to be the best but my local friend said this is her new favorite! And I can understand why! No indoor spa in any hotel can top an outdoor spa like this, with an open view and snow around like this! This is definitely a highlight in our Québec trip! read more

I was a bitt worried after reading many negative reviews but I had a fabulous day at the spa. I signed up for the 8:30 slot and was literally the first person in line when I arrived at the door at 8:15am. I think that is the best time to arrive because you won't have the long lines on arrival. The spa was very clean and I loved trying out all the different spas and saunas. The TripAdvisor tour certificate was confusing; I guess you need to call & schedule a time? Or go in-line?!? I tried both but there were no times showing up for the day I purchased. WTF? We showed up and after multiple attempts to e-nail our certificate, they finally took a picture of it & we FINALLY - 30 minutes later, got our keys, robes, slippers & towels. Outside of the check-in process, it's a great experience; The facilities are really amazing! I'd plan to spend a couple of hours; there's a lazy river, a cold plunge bath, dry sauna, salt for exfoliation & a beautiful view of the river from the infinity pool. I would have given this place much higher review but we took a package for $600 for 2. The checkin person dismissed us and did not provide any information to us and also didn't give us the access that was part of our package. We had to go back and she was not apologetic and just said she forgot. They also failed to inform us that the meditation and floatation beds were closed which were part of the package. The change rooms had overfilled garbage cans, no paper towels to dry hands at the sink, empty lotion containers. The showers were full of mold and hair all over the floor. None of this lack of cleanliness was due to no staff as I saw them coming in and taking the towel bins and walking around. The pools were great and the wellness factor was nice. The spa itself was nice and clean, but organizing a simple evening was an ordeal. I purchased a spa + dinner package a week in advance of our anniversary trip to Quebec City. Since we weren't sure what time we would arrive, I called in to see what the options were. I reached a call center because the individual locations don't provide a contact number... drastically robotized system. The clerk on the line assured me that I could book for a certain time and come in later, just not earlier. I also asked if I had to make reservations for the restaurant, but I would have to do it in person. In short, she was quick to sell me the package while assuring me that everything was very flexible and feasible. I called back when we arrived in QC, and the clerk at the call center repeated scripted lines to me over and over when I asked for help. She could not help me reserve a later time slot, she could not assure that I could even get in at a later time. Furthermore, she told me that the restaurant would close at 7pm (when the spa bookings go far later into the evening) and that she could not refund me. I had to beg her to stop those awful scripted responses and to provide me with real, human help. Finally, the clerk wrote up a formal complaint for me, asking for a refund, and made the process very difficult... I don't know how these people are being trained, but everybody seemed very hungry, eager to lock you in dismiss your issues. This continued on location. We arrived at the spa around 6:15, as opposed to the 5:30 tentative booking. They said their restaurant was full and could not take us in. We were looking right into this restaurant, it was nowhere near full. The clerk then pushed us to pay for the spa experience AGAIN, while we waited on head office to contact us in the next two weeks to refund the dinner portion. We didn't want to ruin the evening completely, as we were losing patience, so we gave in. So all in all, bad experience. Impersonal and misleading service, stressful and contradictory to the vision of the spa. Thoroughly dissatisfied. However, to be fair, the space was clean and pretty. Don't complicate your experience with packages and deals. I'm still waiting on an email back from head office, I hope they realize the trouble they put us through and refund the whole thing. But I doubt it, provided the hungry and detached nature of our experience thus far. Good luck folks :) read more

What an experience. Just what the doctor ordered. Rest and relaxation in warm thermal pools of delight. Between the pools, the sauna, steam room, salt scrub, inferred seating and humidity room one has many options to feel completely zen. It's reasonably priced for what you get. CA$50 for access to the spa for the day. Would do this weekly if it was in Southern California. Was the top highlight of the trip to Canada. Spa's are supposed to be tranquil areas of relaxation and this place was anything but that. The check-in process was the most disorganized mess I've ever seen. People waiting in a line outside the door in 20 degree (F) temps. There was zero signage directing those with reservations to go anywhere else. Once inside it took forever to be checked in. I had pre-purchased a rather expensive FULL DAY of treatments and dinner. Of which I had to show my reservation and proof of purchase multiple times. Once inside it was fine. The baths were hot. The saunas steamy. The premises were well kept. The locker rooms left much to be desired. After my treatments and the baths I went to the restaurant for dinner and was told I could choose from one alcoholic beverage AND a hot beverage. It wasn't until after my meal that "Ooops! We forgot that the chai latte is the only hot beverage not included with your package." So I left cash to cover the "uncovered" chai as well as a tip. Proceeded to gather my things and wait in the check-out line for 45 minutes. When I finally got thru the line they tried to charge me, again, for the same Chai. I explained that I left cash on the table and was told (then) that they don't accept cash. So there was a whole thing of tracking down my server to return the cash so I could leave it all on a card. The whole thing was a FIASCO. The ONLY reason I'm leaving a star is for the women who did my facial and massage. Christina and Sylvie were wonderful and highly skilled. They proved to be the ONLY relaxing part of a whole day at a shitshow. The ONLY way I would ever return or recommend this disaster to anyone would be if/when they are able to resolve the category 5 hurricane disaster that is their check-in/check-out process. read more

This was so amazing. I will be planning all future vacations around Nordic spas! I recommend a massage and the pedicure. They were able to give three of us massages at the same time. The pedicure area is so clean. Must use the ice cold waterfall!! Makes the spa so much better. thé first time through I didn't use it but the second time I was brave. Totally worth it. This was great to warm up in the middle of winter vacay...is crazy...29 degrees F in a spa outside overlooking a disappearing pool edge while ice floats by on a half frozen river....and your not cold. The site is breathtaking. So let's see all the wonderful words: Spa, massage, wine, cheese. They need to build a hotel next door they have all the vacation necessities. I want to come back!!! WOW! I thought Bota bota was good in Montreal but this spa takes the cake!!! So relaxing and beautiful! Friendly staff who was very accommodating to my lack of French. Large locker rooms with changing area, showers with shampoo/conditioner/soap, toilets, hair dryers, makeup remover, and lotion. One bathroom, locker, and infinite towels included with the thermal experience. You should bring your own sandals, swimsuit, and maybe a water canteen. There is a hot citrus sauna, relaxation room, two giant hot springs, and smaller relaxation areas. There is also a restaurant on site.
