This store seems to have almost everything we need. The rewards program is kind of a pain but, it seems like all the other grocery store rewards programs are a pain too. This is our main grocery store because of the convenient location and due to the fact that we know where everything is at. We bring our own paper bags because they give you a 5 cent credit per bag and we are reducing waste. You do get a choice here of paper or plastic. Plastic seems to be thin and they don't hold up. Also, when you put plastic in your trunk they groceries have a tendency to slide around. No 5 cent credit when you bring plastic bags back for reuse. read more

So I'm fr nor cal/ Bay Area and this store is only in Indiana. I chatted w the clerk (she was wonderful), and she mentioned they have like 14? (I think she said 14) locations, but ONLY in Indiana. This place reminded my family of Nugget. It was really polished and nice, however, we thought it was way better than nugget bc they were friendlier, and the prices were way better for specialty items and brands. Parking was ample and the area felt really safe. Our fam fr Chicago and Indiana said this is a nice area. The Christmas decor was amazing, they went all out- classy, yet really cute and fun! We're in Chicago /Indiana about 4 weeks a year and we'll def be doing all of our grocery shopping here whenever we're in town since our hotel rooms always have kitchens. read more

When asking for help from one of your bakery people (dark haired girl with attitude), she clearly did not want to help me, tried to blow me off. However, I insisted and did not leave. She finally came over to me at the counter and talked to me rudely. Someone should tell her that her only job isn't baking, but customer service should also be included. She failed miserably! Rotten food and expired food The service is okay and I talked to customer service and they seemed helpful. It is usually dirty and meat has odor. I bought taffy apples that were all rotting! Two encounters with a person in their deli section and both were very negative. I'll start by telling you the truth regarding their store prepared food products; "VERY DELICIOUS". I stood at their deli, on October 23, 2025 where an employee there turned themselves away from me and just stood there. Another customer #64 had been called and was being waited on by someone else. After standing in front of me the person began to walk away, I said you're not working and they turned and came back (having taking only a few steps). I then told them I wanted the two piece ( chicken). They asked me what two pieces did I want. I said, "two thighs". Then a supervisor came and told me the two pieces didn't come with this combination only a thigh and drumstick. The problem seemed to be each time I have been there the person has not wanted to wait on me. After bagging the chicken their attitude got worse. I told them that they were at work and they should stop playing with me. At that point they put the bag down and refused to put the price on it so that I could purchase it. The supervisor at the deli told the person, they had done nothing wrong. The supervisor spoke to them like you would a little puppy you are trying to potty train. I told the person to stay off of social media because this is where I believe the hostility toward me is coming from. I think employers should be aware of the power of social media to imbed itself in the day to day customer service experience some customers may have. Employees should not be allowed to bring social media into the workplace and do not allow persons running these sites to become the defacto leader of your workforce. Also everyone should avoid businesses where employees go out of their way to dampen your spirits. I did speak to a store manager. read more

I like shopping in Northwest Indiana, and enjoy shopping here for groceries and Sushi. Yes, and Sushi. The prices are reasonable- especially compared to tax-crazy Illinois, and the store's Sushi is fresh. The sushi chef is personable and does a fantastic job. The store carries an assortment of wine and beer and I've never had a bad experience. I've visited this store countless times, too. Social distancing is practiced and the greeters at the entrance throughly clean each cart before rolling it to you. I haven't experienced this much in the land of Lincoln. read more

We ordered our wedding cake and cannolis from the bakery and it was fantastic! They delivered it to the hall and everything! The cake was delicious and the cannolis are always great! Everyone was so on top of their game I would for sure recommend it for anything and definitely a wedding! They even let you do a cake tasting for it which is always a nice touch! read more

I am a grocer's worst nightmare. I really am. I am the girl who's always asking the poor produce guy if they happen to have anything fresher in the back. They always come back with options even though really the stuff that's already out is perfectly fine. I am also the girl who always reaches for the box that's behind the box that's up front. Yep. I confess. That's me. And still. No one has ever asked me to leave. ^_~ They always carry the things no one else carries. Himalayan Pink Sea Salt for instance. And daikon. And their sugar free chocolates are always fresh. Yes, I can tell when they are not. The store is always clean and everyone is friendly and HELPFUL. Sometimes too helpful. So... in the interest of full disclosure... there is one lady at the registers who will tie my produce bags. I don't know why she does this. I am a grown woman. If I want my produce bags tied I am fully capable of tying them myself. However, they always have plenty of lines open so I'll just stand in someone else's line cuz I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. And just yeah... And... AND... they have this little display of fresh fruit for your kids to snack on while you shop. Now, my son is too old to actually "participate", however, there was one instance when my blood sugar was dropping low. I mean LOW. Yes. I helped myself to a cutie and, yes, it was delicious. And before any of ya'll wanna be sending me messages or leaving comments I totally offered to pay for that cutie at the register and the sweet lady totally wouldn't let me. She said she was happy to take part in saving my life. Bahahahaha! No joke. I'm entering her newly opened line and she tells me to back up so that TW0 other customers can go ahead of me. She told me they were ahead of me, but I had told them that the register was opening and so they moved their carts behind me. But Laura told me to move back so they could move forward. I moved. Then Laura told the others that I was wrong...muttered and checked them out. My turn and I asked her why they were moved up and she told me that they were ahead of me. Then she muttered a variety of nasty little combinations of faces and rude remarks. As I was leaving she was talking more smack about me to her next customers. Shopper beware!!! My wife was in this store today and an employee broke a bottle of red sauce all over her brand new shoes. When she reported it to the store manager (Dennis Jerome) she was told to try and dry-clean them because he "knew" it would look ok afterwards. The issue is that this was the first time she wore the shoes, and even showed the manager the receipt that she still had in her email for the shoes. Strack & Van Til should replace her new shoes with the same ones!! There are other reviews of Strack n Van Till store about customers being treaded rudely and i realized how true it is. We had been shopping here at Schererville, IN for only last few months, mostly no interaction since we pick ourselves and self checkout, but this Sunday we got the real experience of interaction with Strack & Van Till associate. I along with my daughter went to the Customer service to get change for a $5 note and i was shocked how badly i was responded by the lady at the counter. She rudely asked in loud voice about it which i could not understand as well as a bit taken back, once i clarified what i wanted she shook her head in irritation and showing it openly, probably because i could not understand her first or delayed my reply since i was trying to digest her attitude. I had never been treated so disrespectfully and never thought store employees sitting at the Customer Service counters can show such demeaning and rude attitudes to customers, that too those who did not come for any favour or free-bees but for legitimate service. There are other stores nearby like Meijer and Wholefood we frequent and never faced such experience where you are made to feel belittled, all the while in front of my 8 yr old daughter. I even stood frozen for few moments trying to digest the treatment and she even showed irritation while handing out the $1 bills. Update on my review: wow oh wow!! The remodel reminds me of Marianos in IL!! Tons of organic and gluten free choices now!! Vegetarian stuff as well! They have this awesome pasta area, pizza bar, BBQ spot and sandwich area where you could, should you choose, have lunch or dinner right there!!! They have a salad bar as well. Want them to grill your steak or chicken? Yup, they do that too! The chef does a fantastic job! My hubby and I have taken advantage of that a few times now. We have had him grill it up and got some mashed potatoes and ate food right in the cafe. Cheese lover? They have a ton! Beer lover? Tons of that too! We came in Florida, went to this store on Dec 08 2023 for fruit to make a salad and sandwiches these employees couldnt have been more rude. First I asked a woman with a chart by the prepared food if they had sandwiches rings she rudely told if you want that go to subway. I walked away mentioned that to my wife as she was picking out fruit so she went to the sandwich counter and again another woman charting behind to counter and asked here how big can you get sandwiches she pointed to the sign and thats it and then told her we dont make sandwiches until 10am it was 945am and walked away. We went to check out with our fruit and the cashier couldnt have been nicer and professional even told us about a Fannie May sale so I went over to the Fannie May cooler where another woman was stocking it and I stated Fannie May 2 for 1 Yes and she turned and said Yeah only as marked slammed the door and walked away. Needless to say we come in town twicw a year to visit family but will never visit this stracks again. I own several businesses in Florida and all 3 of these employees will be hitting the unemployment line. read more

Stracks is a very clean grocery store. The prices are not bad. The only reason why I did not give them a 5 star rating was because they need to monitor their fruit more closely. I found some mold growing on what was supposed to be Fresh strawberries numerous times. And I had bought some Fresh? Shrimp from their deli a year ago.I went home immediately ( just a 5 minute drive) and when I I wrapped the shrimp they smelled so bad I had to return them. Strack did reimburse me. read more

This is the closest grocery store to our house, so I have a love/hate relationship with it. I like the store, but like others say the prices are higher. I never ever mind paying, but for example, their gluten free section needs an update. Some of the products such as "Bob's Red Mill" products are expired. And, by expired, I mean a year expired. This is my first experience having an event catered, so I will admit that I have nothing to which this can be compared, but right down to the serving spoons bundled together, everything was perfect.
