This is my second experience with straight line roofing in the past five years. The first time was a troublesome Leak that they correctly diagnosed as a problem with the ridge vent and corrected it in a timely fashion. It had been missed diagnosed multiple times and the continued. More recently the California fair plan said that they were going to drop me because my roof was in for repair even though I had replaced it 12 years ago. I called straight line and they came out and did a competent in fact, inspection and wrote a report refusing the findings. They are honest and I would highly recommend them. read more

Fast forward to August 2025. Let's try this again as it may have been a fluke? They responded. We set a date. They kept trying to change the time like customers are home 24/7 and don't have jobs. Nope. So FINALLY we have a date/time. They cancel. We reschedule. I get off work to meet these clowns and..... nobody shows up lol. I'm good on them and don't care about the high review content. Straight Line replaced two damaged skylights and several broken tiles. They came recommended by our contractor. Plus - Crew was on time, friendly, communicative and appears to have done great work (although it hasn't rained yet). When the blind on one of the skylights was crooked, they immediately addressed it. The finished product looks great and works well. It did take a week to get an estimate and about six weeks after that for the work to commence. However, they tarped the leaky spots immediately, which protected them until the replacement. Very few companies do skylight replacement and it was an emergency situation so we did not shop around and cannot attest to value. We're happy with the work and communication however and would use them again. read more

Unfortunately, we were not destined to be raving fans. Our roof installed by Straight Line is cosmetically appealing and was initially a positive experience, however, they ultimately fell short. We were promised everything we'd discussed in the estimate... new metal valleys, replacement of all flashings, and plywood to cover up a hole where rodents could nest. Unfortunately, these elements of the job were never communicated to the installation crew and some were never completed. Inter-departmental communication is not their strong suit in our experience. Immediately after the job was completed we noticed that our exhaust fan wasn't removing steam from our bathroom, I got into the attic and discovered that our metal pipe linking the fan to the roof vent had been ripped and crushed when it was either removed or installed during the roof vent replacement. I also discovered that the newly installed deck flashing wouldn't accommodate the same diameter pipe. There's no way this level of damage could have been done without noticing. Rather than acknowledge it or notify us of the damage it was simply reinstalled... ripped and crushed... releasing steam on to the roof deck and rendering the fan ineffective. I found multiple gutter hangers that were not reinstalled, the drip guards had not been cut in preparation for installation, it's as if they forgot about them. During the first significant rain storm after installation I inadvertently found a leak inside of a bedroom wall where Straight Line failed to replace the flashing as discussed. If I hadn't opened the wall this may have caused mold and significant structural damage. After multiple visits and waiting nearly a month for a solution they came out and adhered a strip of metal over the old flashing; an acceptable industry standard but certainly not the best solution as they chose to patch with unpaintable building materials instead of using stucco to match. I haven't yet been able to verify whether or not the issue has truly been remedied. In summary they completed the job with some level of satisfaction, as far as I can tell our roof does not currently leak and looks great from the street. If you're comfortable with scrutinizing their work and are willing and able to repair any damage they may cause, you'll be pleased. If you're unable to get on your roof to inspect the work, unable to get in the attic to check the roof vents and deck, or are unable to get on a ladder to ensure your gutters are properly supported i'd suggest looking elsewhere. A suggestion for Straight Line: Please consider implementing a quality control supervisor familiar with the customers expectation, someone to oversee the project and who is completely uninvolved with the installation, to ensure that the results reflect what was agreed upon. read more

Jack the owner came out to give an estimate for a reroof. Everything was fine and then he said he had some questions. It got really weird and awkward like I was interviewing for a job at NASA. He said that the county would require them to put OSB on the roof because it was slats. I asked how long the bid was good for. Most contractors will do a six month period. He didn't and literally set a pen in front of me. At $27,000 I'm going to think it through. Just to reiterate I asked him a week later as he called me several times if the county was really going to make us add OSB. He said yes. He's been doing this long enough that he knows county code very well. We got another bid and went with the other company. The OSB wasn't necessary and the bid was $10,000 cheaper and they did a great job. Jack also said if we didn't get the rain gutters that they are extremely difficult to install later. I randomly asked the other contractor. His exact words " It's easy". To conclude, Jack sat at my very dining table and lied straight to my face. So happy we got a different bid. read more

I was immediately contacted by the owner, Melanie, and her office. They explained that a new AI lead handling agent had dropped my request and offered to make things right. Although I had used another contractor for my project they sent Kyle out to my home to perform an inspection. Kyle was extremely personable and afterwards shared pictures of some issues he was able to fix for me during the inspection. Turns out the damage was all caused by Acorn Woodpeckers storing acorns, of which there was even a carcass next to the holes in a roof valley (what the heck?) Initially, the sales pitch was very impressive. Straight Line's prices were much higher than 3 other companies I had interviewed, but I was told that is because I would be paying for quality. So, I went with Straight Line. Communication with the company was difficult when I needed to work with our HOA. I have some special circumstances and was told they could work with that which I appreciated. I was sent texts that the crew would arrive at a certain time, but I had to call to find out what time they would arrive since they had not arrived and I had to leave to take care of a family member. I had to request updates on arrival times. One must be very proactive to get a response. Supposedly, I was to have a walk-through when the work was completed to approve the work (and to pay them) which didn't happen because I did not see a text and the workers left the house. A phone call would have worked better. I was also told that I would be able to see a video of the progress which also never happened. On a positive note, the work was completed faster than originally planned. I am not able to elaborate on the work since I couldn't see the results of the work on the roof which might be very good, but, overall, the experience was frustrating. read more

They did a fine job on the roof as far as I can tell. However, I wish I'd gone with one of the other roofers who actually had less expensive quotes. Straight Line took over a shared driveway and blocked the sidewalk while they were working. When I asked them not to, they said it was okay they'd just move if asked. But...I asked. They also left items in my driveway for days/weeks following the job, including a ladder in the backyard. I had also been referred by a friend who was told he'd receive a gift card for the referral but never did. read more

I had some wet drywall in my kitchen so (like most people) I thought it was the roof. Straightline came out and quoted a roof repair in the area of the wet drywall. They said they didn't need to look in the attic and only looked at the exterior, I don't know anything about roofing but based on their good reviews I trusted them, and they said they'd definitely find the leak when they pulled up the shingles. When they scheduled my repair I reminded my scheduler that they said the sales guy assured me that they would find the leak (and he agreed they would). The crew started the work while I was at a doctor appointment (which was okay) but when I got home I asked the crew lead if he had found the leak and he said he didn't see anything, no water on the plywood, rusty nails etc. I asked if he would check the attic and he said he saw no signs of water intrusion in the attic either. They completed the repair and left. Next rain, after the repair, I had wet drywall again but a dry attic (I squeezed myself into the attic and checked myself). This company sold me a roof repair I didn't need. Selling me an unnecessary repair was unethical. The crew was amazing, super polite, kind, clean work area, etc. and are the only reason I'm not giving one star. TLDR; they'll sell you an expensive roof repair you don't need, but the crew was nice. read more
