The main reason I come here is to go to Sainsbury's, as it's the biggest supermarket anywhere near to the city centre that you can get to by public transport easily. But aside from that, there's also a handful of banks, travel agents, clothes shops like New Look and Peacocks, as well as random one-off shops like GimmeGizmo and Paperbox. You'll never find anything designer or massively upmarket in here, but it's good for all the day-to-day boring things that nobody likes shopping for but everybody needs. There's also free parking, which is another definite bonus.

Cameron Toll is a shopping centre outside of the city centre. It's main interest will be its…read moreproximity to King's Buildings making it useful for students based in the area, though it may be of interest to those further afield due to its ample parking. The centre is dominated by a Sainsbury's (no restaurant though the Sainsbury's on the other side of town at Blackhall has one). For food on the go, among others the food court boasts a baked potato shop and a Burger King. There is also a Costa Coffee on the ground floor. Of the shops on offer the highlights are: BHS, some phone stores, Peacocks, Shoe Zone (cheap but low quality shoes) and a WH Smith. For those based in King's Buildings its ideal if you wish to grab a lunch or pick up some shopping the only warning is a visit there and back will take about an hour unless you're very quick.

I had a rental car and was charged for a parking fine because I had parked there more than two hours apparently. I didn't know there was a limit and because it was a rental car, they added on their own charge. I know that private parking fines are not enforceable in Scotland but my beef was really with the rental company. Suffice to say that this would put me off going there again though.

Clearly I'm not hard to impress. In all honesty though, it's hugely convenient for the type of shopping I do. Right off the main road so it's easily accessible, shops in close proximity and ample parking- it's great! I guess the only annoying thing is the narrow roads, particularly when it's busy it can be a pain to navigate. Overall, the business is not enough to deter me. Five stars!

It kinda reminded me of an airport (but nicer, of course). There is parking but we didn't use it. From what I've heard it is pretty expensive. We used Gellatly Street which was £8 for 24 hours. Considering the Overgate charges something similar to this for 5 hours and closes overnight, it looks like we made the right call to go somewhere else. The public toilets in the mall are clean and well serviced so we're all good there. I would definitely recommend coming here instead of the Wellgate - the Wellgate is a horrible, dark dungeon.

It may be because it is a brand new shopping centre and therefore lacks some of what makes the Wellgate so good but whatever it is there is just something missing from the whole experience of shopping here. That said it does have some wonderful shops such as Sports world, Gap and baby Gap, The Gadget shop, Debenhams and the amazing Lush shop which sells all the wild and wacky soaps and lotions and potions you could imagine. You can smell the wondeful scents coming from the Lush store throughout the building and they are rivalled only by the aroma from the Starbucks coffee shop on the same floor. If you are in Dundee then you must visit here as well as the Wellgate, they both have something different to offer.

There are some shops here that you won't find in the city centre like WHSmith, The Disney Store and Morrisons combined with larger versions of high street stores like New Look and M&S, which are both much quieter and easier to navigate than their Princes Street stores. There is also a large Boots, a Next, generic coffeehouse chains like Starbucks and Costa and there are some stalls around the glass lift specialising in smoothies, cookies and pretzels. Upstairs, there is a foodcourt which offers Burger King, Metropole, McChen's, O'Briens and Spud U Like as its main vendors. Outside the centre is a branch of Frankie & Benny's. There are also cafes located within M&S and Morrisons. The toilets in the centre are pretty clean and are well maintained, which is rare for a capital city mall. With rumours of a new Primark on the horizon, an exciting opportunity awaits The Gyle. They will need to destroy some parking to fit it in but that doesn't matter. Just don't expect the Metrocentre and you'll be fine. It is just basic mod con shops. Nothing too fancy.

I don't get the layout, why not just build a mall where everything is undercover? And why is everything spaced all over the place? I think they want us to walk more. Example, toystore next to a H&M but more clothing stores on the other end of the retail park. Bit of a mess, doesn't make sense and does no make for a fun afternoon of shopping. Parking is ridiculous too and people have no patience. If you can head to the high street or buy online I'd reccommend that instead.

There is a small amount of cover along the pedestrian walkway to protect visitors from the elements, although it's more of a nudge in the direction of rain cover than actual real cover.

There are some really great bargains on offer - whether you're looking for a Versace Dress for £300 or an M&S dress for £3. Although some Designer Outlet shopping centres are open air - you can rest assure that this one is securely inside. Which is very good, seeing as it's in Scotland and all! If you're planning a Christmas shopping trip, or are just feeling a little indulgent, then I thoroughly recommend a trip to Livingston Designer Outlet. There's a huge carpark which is free - so you can shop for hours without having to worry about when your ticket runs out. And believe me, you will shop for hours.

If you live in Edinburgh, you're far better not bothering to make the trip.

It's not just cheap, though, there is actually some nice and well made stuff. I can only assume that it's the kind of stuff that has some kind of invisible fault that makes it unsellable in the likes of John Lewis and other type stores, because that's the only way for me to explain the price. It's so cheap and well stocked, that The Man is actually the one who suggests coming here. We have purchased Le Cruset, bathroom accessories, cute glass storage jars, and have been tempted by loads of their pots/pans/etcetc. The clothing takes more work - they've got pretty reasonable walking gear, but in terms of everyday clothes I've not even tried to look because I just don't have the energy it would take to search through dozens of racks of rank just to find one nice thing. I think I'll probably suggest going this weekend...

The stock isn't really as good as the branches in Glasgow or even Fort Kinnaird, which is half the size. Staff aren't the friendliest and there are often tourists who stop in front of you to pose with the sign saying "Love Straiton". Also I tripped on the staircase once and an employee just laughed in my face. I'm not going back to this branch any time soon.
