If you like a town whose taxes are extreme for what you get in return then Stratford is for you. The Borough of Stratford will keep you going in circles when dealing with residents, property matters, pets, schools etc. etc. etc. Borough Counsel seems to care more about their own personal status then the community for which they elected to manage and maintain. As an example the borough has placed signs at the entrances of the different developments throughout the town. These signs are strategically placed with the permission from the property owner on the corner part of the homeowners lot. They have placed signs at railroad crossing etc as an attempt to beautify the area. Problem is every year the borough rips out the perennial plants reguardless of how nice the plants are and replants new ones. Perenials come back every year this is a large expense that could go towards more pertinent things such as brining and plowing of roads in the winter. Safer roads in the winter are more important to families than pretty flowers. Another major issue in the borough is street lining trees. The town planted all these trees let them wither away and then told residents that it is the home owners problem to have any upkeep or cutting down of said trees. many of these trees are a real safety issue. Large branches break off and fall into street creating a hazard for children who are playing or walking to and from school. Cars are vulnerable, houses are damaged sidewalks are lifting up from the roots making it very hard for the elderly and the very young to get around outside for a leisurely walk. And don't get me started about the school system, children graduating 8th grade reading at a proven 3rd grade level ( testing provided through Rowan University) We'll I could go on and on but hopefully you get the idea. What's politically published about this town is not always the way things are. read more
