Strathisla's distinction is that it's the oldest licensed distillery in Scotland, as well as the prettiest. Not surprising for a distillery this old, it has gone through good and bad times and changed hands. The Chivas Brothers purchased the distellery in 1950, and uses the whiskey it produced prominently in its blends. Hence today, it's marketed as "the spiritual home of Chivas" rather than its old brand. Across the street in a park, there's a well with the sign stating that it as the spring head for the water used by the distillery. The distillery is indeed photogenic, and we also did a blending class there. We learned of the major flavor compounds of a whiskey and then given our free rein to blend our own personal blends, which was kind of fun. read more
Had the opportunity to stop at the oldest working distillery in the Highlands for a couple hours between rides on The Dram Tram. Strathisla, makers of Chivas, is within walking distance of the Keith Station. Makes for a great storefront photo. Upon arrival it was obvious that their staff has no issue taking care of their guests. Without a tour or tasting appointment we were lead to their barrel-shaped bar, just beyond the welcoming desk. We were able to do a small flight and taste a couple other whiskeys all while relaxed on a squashy couch. We even tried some of the bar snacks. My only lament was that, not being much of a Whisky aficionado, I didn't really care for their Scotch. However, if you're a fan of the brand you will not regret making a stop at this distillery. read more

My wife and I visited at the end of May and had an amazing experience. We're both whiskey drinkers, and the whiskey we tasted was amazing. I highly recommend the Iconic Distilleries Tour, as you get to see Glen Keith as well and try some truly unique whiskeys. Alison was our guide, and she was amazing; so knowledgeable and welcoming. If you get a chance to explore this place, go for it. If you're like me, from the U.S., you can't find their products here. read more
Strathisla Distillery: The Strathisla Distillery, the oldest working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, lies in a hollow on the banks of the River Isla in the Banffshire market town of Keith, renowned for its "holy wells" and natural springs. Lying on the fertile barley growing regions of Moray and Banffshire, Keith has been a centre of the whisky industry for more than two centuries. Strathisla Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a distinctively mellow and honeyed flavour, greatly enjoyed by lovers of single malts. Because of its unique character the local people have enjoyed it for generations. Today it enjoys a prominent position in the Chivas portfolio of Scotch whiskies. Strathisla is the home and heart of Chivas Regal. Although it is the predominant influence at the heart of the world's most successful premium Scotch whisky, Strathisla is an outstanding single malt in its own right, with a fragrancy and smoothness that carries through to a rich and delicious finish. The fine Strathisla Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made at the oldest operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands. We welcome you to discover the art of the distiller and enjoy seeing the making of the Strathisla Single Malt at your leisure. At the Strathisla distillery you'll have the opportunity to 'nose' the fine single malt whiskies. Together with soft grain whiskies they combine to create Scotland's greatest treasure - Chivas Regal. Whether lingering over coffee and shortbread or sipping a superb dram in luxurious comfort, you'll discover the true meaning of Highland hospitality. Founded in 1786 in the ancient market town of Keith, Strathisla is the oldest operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery maintains many of the traditions and techniques laid down during the earliest days of whisky production. The making of Strathisla Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an entirely natural process. You can observe the care and attention that is devoted to the selection of the finest raw materials. See the timber vats, the gleaming copper stills and experience first-hand the age old process involved in producing Strathisla Single Malt Scotch Whisky - a whisky of unsurpassed quality. Watch the skills of the still man and observe how the spirit is distilled not once but twice in distinctive copper pot stills, the design of which throughout the years has never been changed. Discover why only the 'middle cut' or 'heart' of the spirit is stored in traditional oak casks to mature. After three years, in essence this new spirit is recognised as whisky, with character and colour but at Strathisla you will discover that the spirit is left to mature and mellow for considerably longer. Only Scotch whiskies that have matured for at least 12 years are used in Chivas Regal and all are superb examples in their own right. The most important of all is the rich and full Strathisla Single Malt Scotch Whisky - the heart of Chivas Regal. With a heritage dating back nearly a century, Chivas Regal is today universally acknowledged as the world's leading luxury Scotch whisky. Distinctively packaged and stylishly presented, it stands as an exclusive symbol of success and achievement the world over, recognised by those who enjoy the finer things in life and those who deserve the best. Visit the Strathisla Distillery The visit to the Strathisla Distillery includes free coffee and shortbread, visitor handbook, self guided tour of the distillery, opportunity to nose a range of whiskies, a complimentary dram of Strathisla Single Malt Scotch Whisky or Chivas Regal, souvenir brochure, distillery shop. read more
The distillery is, as everyone points out, absolutely gorgeous. I believe our tour guide said that it was the most photographed distillery--it definitely lives up to that name. However, the tour was also fantastic. Luckily we arrived on the day of the first tour of the season and we were the only two on the tour (best way to do it). Our guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to share their expertise and let us see the workings behind the process. The tour was so excellent that we didn't feel the need to do any others--we felt they would pale in comparison to the tour we had already done. Pick up one of their cask-strength bottles in the shop; you can only get them there and it's a great souvenir to take home to family and whisky-loving friends. read more
We popped in while waiting for our train home. We'd already done a distillery tour, so instead just did the tasting flight. £10 for a flight of three, plus water, peanuts, and even jelly beans! The customer service was wonderful. It was my husband's birthday so he was treated to a complimentary dram of the 25 year old. Wonderful service overall and I'd highly recommend it for anyone on a whisky weekend. read more

GODFATHER of Single malt whisky hidden in isles of Dan Murphys must be revealed soon-except price and recognition. This is my first whisky to start as single malt from Blends and then I was exploring Glenmorangie, Glen Moray & Dalwhinnie.I recommended this product to couple of people in QV none of the customers are known to this wonderful product , they mentioned me about the price. An example and a class of Peaty whisky which is not harsh. It's a delicacy for a get together-BBQ,Indian food & with spicy popcorn and a solo single malt whisky collector.Strong Nose like Burnt Black coffee, liquorice whisky.Tastes like sweetened honey blended with Vanilla.A whisky takes you to Scotland every sip and its my 3rd bottle from Dan Murphys QV and Coburg.Needs a drop of cold spring water or a spoon of crushed ice in very small quantity(half a coffee spoon) just air the whiskyIf you love single malt and want the feel of Chivas regal with Black label in a proper single malt version here is it. read more
