This was one of the best buffet dinners that we had on our entire 3 week honeymoon! The food was delicious and they had such a good variety. Just remember the dress code...No shorts or flip flops. We went zorbing before this so we had a change of clothes ready in the car. We booked this as a combo package which included the skyline gondola ride and a tasting at the Volcanic Hills Winery. I'd recommend getting here 2 hours before your dinner so you can do the tasting at a nice pace. Plus the lines can get long at the gondola. Book in advance if you can! It was so good. I think the food was better than the Skyline Gondola in Queenstown. But the view in Queenstown was better than this one. read more

This restaurant is located at the top of the skyline rotorua gondola. We purchased a deal through our travel agent which included a luge ride and buffet dinner at the Stratosfare. The food is delicious and covers an array of international dishes. The food is fresh and the presentation is fabulous, not to mention the spectacular views from the restaurant. This place is great for celebrating special occasions or even just celebrating that you're on an awesome holiday in NZ!! (I'm from the United States ;-) ) There is a dress code, be sure to check out the website. Basically no athletic wear is allowed and no flip flops or jandals. Staff were very polite and friendly!! I would recommend reservations, the restaurant is huge but I can see it getting packed quickly. A definitely must do if you're not from NZ or even if you are!! read more

Let's get straight to the point: this is a buffet of the gods with a view of the gods! Upon arriving at Skyline, simply take the gondola ride up and the restaurant will be located atop the mountain. Reservations are REQUIRED as this place gets packed easily - they ask for resos 24hrs in advance, but we were able to squeeze in by calling only a few hours ahead. Whatever seating time you reserve for, I definitely recommend arriving right on time if you're aiming to get a table next to the window. Attire is smart-casual, but I wouldn't be too concerned about it - I saw plenty of folks in activewear. Now for the good stuff. The buffet contains the perfect amount of variety so you'll be able to try a bite of everything. There's seafood, meats, soups, veggies, pasta, sauces to go with everything, and there are several Asian-influenced selections like Chinese BBQ pork, sushi, dumplings, and more. The selections in the dessert station made my jaw drop: build-your-crepes with tons of filings, gelato station with tons of toppings, mini cakes, creme brûlée, and pastries... oh, and fruit. If you're into that sort of thing. Service was attentive and friendly, with smiling waitresses quick to pick up finished plates. Oh my gosh, do NOT eat for 24 hours before going here. You'll thank me later. Haha, just kidding. But seriously, kind of pricey but so so so worth it! There is such a huge variety of foods to choose from and everything is so yummy and you can't beat the view! I recommend you sample a little bit of everything because there is so much to offer but I couldn't fit it all in my belly! I went for dinner but I assume lunch is just as yummy. You definitely need to call for reservations to make sure you'll have a seat. You should request to sit by the window because the view is amazing! Not much more to say other than this is a top notch buffet with quality foods and this is a great place to go. What makes this place even better is that being connected to Skyline, you can stay here all day with all of the different activities they offer. We would have stayed longer but of course it was raining so we ate in the clouds and didn't get a chance to try night luge. All good, next time. But get out there and have some fun! read more

My family and I came here to have a farewell dinner for our international student who was going back home the next day. We had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated due to how busy the restaurant was but that was not a problem whatsoever as the staff were just wonderful. The food was awesome and the dessert was beautiful. One of the waiters was constantly clearing our plates and was working super hard which I appreciate so much. He also offered to take a photo of my family and i with our student which was an awesome gesture. Being a waitress myself I can understand the pressure that is put on us wait staff on busy nights but these workers definitely were working hard and I respect them so much. It's a buffet, I guess I should have known. Was kind of disappointed with the food, but hey, there's something for everyone.... The food didn't seem that great quality and wasn't very delicious. I got to eat mussels, which was nice, but the lamb was unfortunately tough and disappointing. The view was lovely, but I would not come here again. read more

A very average experience . Arrived after coming up gondolas. We had booked a table for lunch. Firstly asked if we had paid at the kiosk downstairs. No we hadn't and could we pay before we even entered. Okay? I ordered a bottle of wine and yes could you pay for that in advance. After that service was okay after showing us to table. We chose a very hot day to go to Stratosfare for dinner. Saturday evening was a popular evening and the restaurant was busy. There was a wide variety of food to choose from. It was well presented and fresh to eat. Unfortunately our enjoyment of the dinner provided was compromised by the extreme heat in the restaurant.
