I have been to Leeds Festival about five times and it's one of my favourite times of the year! The…read morefestival takes part on August bank holiday weekend, with an early entry ticket permitting access to the campsite as early as the Wednesday, and the festival ending on Monday morning. The music is on on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, usually from about midday till 11pm ish. Not only is there music but also comedians and sometimes films are shown. There are also various DJ sets/music tents on an evening as well as different bars-it all varies year on year. The festival area consists of different campsite areas, the carparks, and then the arena itself. There's quite a lot of camping space however if you don't get there that early it can be difficult to get a decent space. The arena contains all the different stages, loads of food vans/counters, bars, and rides. The cost of Leeds Fest goes up every year but it's about £200 now for a weekend of camping and seeing loads of bands and things. It's not bad value but it is creeping up a lot. I love Leeds fest as it's a fun weekend full of music, friends, camping, drinking, and laughing.

An amazing music festival that you should definately go to if you live up North! It's a great…read moreatmosphere and always gets good bands in their line up! It's not that far from Leeds City Centre, but traffic can be well bad so get there early as poss. I saw soooooo many people just chilling out on their bonnets of their cars this year in the queue to get there, but then again that's part of the fun!! It's over £100 for the weekend ticket, can't remember how much more, but it's well worth it! Don't go for just a day unless you HATE camping, because you pay quite a bit more to just go for a day and the music alone is worth staying for!!

Standing in a field for three and a half days is pretty boring, however throw in around 100 Metal…read morebands and field standing turns into the best thing you can do in the middle of August in Derbyshire. This was my 4th Bloodstock in a row,and it keeps getting better and better. One of the main draws for me is it's size,it's not stupidly big like the Downloads and Glastos of this world, this years attendance was 11000,and whilst this means they will never be able to afford the Iron Maidens and Metallica's they still sign up some decent headliners,Alice Cooper and Machine Head being 2 of the 3 headliners this year. Expect to pay the usual festival prices for things,or take your own food and booze and pop back to your tent in between bands, the size of the fest means that you are never more than 5 mins away from where you pitched. There are plenty of diverse food stalls and a decent amount of merch to buy, there are four stages, all within staggering distance of each other, and most importantly Me! If you are already a MetalHead then you may have already been to Bloodstock (Gold star for you) but if you are yet to attend a Metal fest then may I suggest you give Bloodstock a try next year? £125 for 100+ bands is money well spent, and the mighty Anthrax have already been announced for 2013! Bang your f*****g head \M/

I only knew a few of the bands but the good weather and company made up for it. I would call it a micro-Download. In comparison the site is tiny, but this makes it feel more safe and friendly and obviously much easier to get around. £70 was a lot to pay for a day ticket, plus there's £20 in parking which I think is cheeky! Also they don't take cards like at download which was annoying. I would go back if lots of bands I knew were playing/had plenty of money/guarantee of good weather! I know my friend will go back regardless!;)

With 200 bands playing over two days, Matthew Street Festival could well be Liverpool's…read moreGlastonbury. A free event held every August Bank Holiday, MSF finds the city centre transformed into a den of music and mayhem. Last year's festival attracted over 30,000 revellers spread across six areas and this year's on 29 -30 August looks set to be even bigger. There's six outdoor stages planned in Williamson Square, Derby Square and Tithebarn Street amongst other locations. There's also temporary bars and hot and cold food stalls. The live music kicks-off at 11am til early evening with most style of music covered from rock, pop and blues to soul, indie and punk. The only downside is that the majority of bands seem to be cover bands and whilst this doesn't seem to bother most of the revellers, bores me. Luckily, a New Bands Stage was introduced last year with no covers. If you don't like being pushed against complete strangers singing and dancing, there's big TV screens that allow you to watch the performances from a distance. Just make sure you take a sunhat, a large bottle of water and some pennies for food, beer and the obligatory festival item, an inflatable guitar. N.B. I'd give the festival 4 stars for camaraderie but the dire covers bands strips it down to 3!

5 stars is probably a little extravagant for Liverpool's Matthew Street Festival for all things…read moreBeatle related as the talent can be a little hit and miss but overall the weekend long music and booze binge is a good laugh. It is an extremely busy weekend as most bars and clubs take part hosting tribute bands from all over the world. Over the years this has changed dramatically from a few Beatles tributes in The Cavern into a city wide festival for tribute acts for all sorts of classic rock groups, performances from old favourites and even showcases for emerging Liverpool talent. Three years ago was probably the best one I had been too and was definately the biggest. The streets were rammed with people and there were numerous huge stages in the middle of Liverpool's busiest streets.
