My sister started doing CrossFit in North Carolina, and I had the chance to try it a few times there. And then, I began to see the strength she was gaining from attending 3x/week. I wanted in. I checked around for CrossFit gyms near me, and I creeped on CrossFit South Hills on Instagram for months before finally signing up for the On-Ramp intro session. The On-Ramp one-on-one coaching sessions work on technique and gym terminology and are so helpful. Originally, I signed up for 6 months. I've now been attending CFSH for over 3 years, and I love how strong I am. I also love that I can just show up, and there's a workout already prepared for me. The CFSH community is also great because everyone takes the time to cheer for one another. Coaches are also accommodating for injuries, offering modifications and other options if you can't do a movement. This helps to make sure that you can continue to grow stronger while healing. The gym might be hard to find at first since it's tucked away off the train tracks with a bunch of other warehouses. There's plenty of parking. Inside the gym, there are cubbyholes for your stuff and a child play area if you have kids. Pro Tip: Bring water and clothing you're okay getting a bit dirty

I moved out of Pittsburgh in July and was trying to find a CrossFit gym that was within a…read morereasonable distance to Monongahela. I found this gym that was in Finleyville. I thought it was great because it was only about a 15 minute drive from me. I wanted to start doing classes as soon as possible I was in contact with this gym in August and my contract started in September. I signed up for a six month contract which was 130 dollars for only three classes. The other CrossFit gym I attended was 130 for unlimited classes. So I already was on the fence about this gym with it being so much more expensive. I joined anyways since it was close to me. So I was only allowed 3 classes a week and if I signed up for the class and didn't go it counted as one of my classes but you had to cancel more than a hour before the class if you had to cancel or you were locked in. Which I understand that there are only so many spots in the classes but I rarely saw the classes filled. They didn't have many class times that I was personally able to make it to. My old gym had classes and open gym at noon which was nice for people who worked odd shifts like me. This gym didn't open at those time the last class is at 9am then the next class is at 430 pm or something along those lines. By the end of my contract I was under the impression that my classes ended in January since I did take classes in August so I did not attend any classes in February. They didn't charge me until September which was my own misunderstanding and I am not holding them accountable for it but I did not attend any classes thinking my contract was over which sucks on my end. They also charged me for March which they shouldn't of and I contacted the owner and she refunded me and I brought up that I didn't attend any classes in February not knowing I was still a member and it was basically a loss for me and a gain for them. Then the owner asked if I wanted to continue going to their gym. There was no customer service involved in the discussion between me and the owner I do not want to stay at a gym or with a business that is charging cards after their contracts are over. Also the other gym I went to had a military discount and a student discount this one does not. There is not many options for class times and there is no customer service involved in they way their business is run. They don't have enough equipment for the classes there were multiple times when my cousin and I would be scrambling to get a wall ball that was a certain weight since they only had two that weight. The classes themselves weren't as weightlifting focused as other CrossFit gyms I went to sometimes I felt like I didn't really get much of a workout in at their classes. I am giving this gym three stars because of all of the above I am not giving them three stars for me not going to classes in February (that was my fault) but I do feel as though it could of been handled in a different way and I may of continued going to classes at this gym for the simple fact it's close to me if there was any amounting decent customer service given to me when I contacted the owner.

They also gave me the wrong pricing. The monitors are way inflated at $120+, and they offer a 50% off deal, except they really don't. The most frustrating part of the weeks-long experience trying to join is they almost never answer the phone. There's no way to easily work out the inaccuracies. Now they have all my personal information so I'm anticipating OTF spam for the rest of my life. If you're not sure about trying this place out, I recommend trying other places first.

The instructors- they are friendly and energetic, many take time to encourage class members by name which is real motivation, additionally, they essentially conduct a group personal training session, giving just the perfect amount of personalized attention to ensure perfect form but not so much that you can't go at your own pace. 2. The ambience- the lighting is perfect, dim and cool, the music is great, and the atmosphere is contagious. 3. The results- I get a great sweat every single class, and am seeing and feeling some excellent results, you really can't help but get into shape... and you can do so at your own pace. 4. The cancellation policy- this is definitely a mixed bag, however, knowing I will be charged $12 for a no show or canceling less than 8 hours in advance means when I commit I really commit ( non premier members lose the class, value approx $28). While some people may find this frustrating it is just the extra push I need. Cons- 1. The location- nice spot in the east end but can be a parking challenge 2. The price- I do think it's worth it but at approx $60-$160 a month, it's definitely more than a workout, it's an investment 3. Scheduling- for the most part this has steadily improved and you can count on being able to book two weeks out at 9 pm each evening but sometimes that isn't the case and typically by 5 am the next morning classes are full, I've had to stay up until as late as 1 am to get into a class... or forgotten and been locked out entirely... for $150 a month I almost feel spaces should be guaranteed 4. Technology- sometimes this goes down, once or twice a month since I started, and nothing is done about it... the problem is you then have no record of your workout and the record is a big plus Ultimately, I would highly recommend OTF to anyone who needs an extra dose of motivation, who wants to get fit fast, who struggles to get in a full body burn, who wants to have fun and is ready to invest in themselves!

I signed up for two classes through the ClassPass app while I was in town. The first was a Restore class with Wendy, which I loved. Wendy is a great instructor and had a great playlist. She's kind and encouraging in a calm and friendly way that motivates me more than being shouted at throughout class. The Restore class was a solid block of rowing for the first half of class and then strength and stretching on the mat for the second half. Unlike other classes, you don't use the monitors to view your stats and row more on feel, which I liked. The second class I attended was Signature with Joy. Joy is positive and upbeat, and her enthusiasm makes class enjoyable. For this class format we had three sets of rowing and two sets of strength on the mat, and used the monitors to track our stats throughout some sprints and power intervals. I really enjoyed both classes, and wish there was a Row House studio near where I live for me to attend regularly. The studio is inside The Block section of the Northway Mall, and there's plenty of parking. The studio is clean and bright and has self-locking lockers, a restroom, water bottle refill station, and branded merchandise for sale. The rowers and all other equipment are in excellent condition, and there are more than enough weights of each heaviness to go around. They provide the mats for the floor exercise portions. Everyone I met there was friendly and welcoming from the front desk to the instructors to the other people in class. It seems like they have a lot of regulars, and several people were doubling up on classes the days I was there, which speaks well of the studio in my book.

Upon entering my first day, I was greeted and prompted to get all sign information completed. It was a quick process. They are also taking great precautionary measures due to covid-19. Class attendance has been reduced, the row room is cleaned thoroughly between each class, lockers and water fountain are not available for use. I was able to take 2 classes during my 7 day trial. Joy and Justin were both helpful and informative. Justin took time after the class to chat and be encouraging. They remembered my name the second time I came in and asked how I liked the first class - so customer service is on point! Although no one ever tried to sell me a package which I didn't mind because I already knew it wasn't my type of work out long term. The foundation class is 100% the class to start in if you have not rowed before. Form is so important and not having rowed before, I never realized there is a technique to it. I enjoyed the floor work outs between row sets. Justin's floor workouts during the foundation class were my favorite. I recommend taking advantage of their free trial and exploring classes before committing. They really are fun, just not my style of work out for a long term commitment.

She is always professional, but very warm and caring. She's patient, and watches you like a hawk, when you're working out, quickly modifying the workout, if she notices your form isn't up to snuff on a given day. She works extensively with people with disabilities of all sorts, so her knowledge of fitness is very specialized--but gets results. When I started training with her, she worked very carefully with me, to strengthen and stabilize various "problem" areas (knees, shoulders)--and now, a year later, I can do things I haven't been able to do in years--like going down stairs, without my knees hurting--which feels nothing short of miraculous! She works holistically--offering health and nutrition advice, should you want it, along with her personal training, and you can really tell that she's creating a unique program just for you. I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work with her, and would gladly and whole-heartedly, without reservation, recommend her to anyone, at any age or fitness level, who is looking to improve their level of fitness!
