One of our all time favorite NJ restaurants. We have been coming here since they first opened and always refer friends and family here for special events. The food has never once disappointed us. The steaks are phenomenal. Please bring back the LeGrand bacon fat washed bourbon, it was one of the best libations I have ever had. Wait staff has been very helpful. We love sitting at the bar and seeing the bartenders do their magic. Ambiance is lowly lit and romantic. Now that it's getting so much busier, I wish it closes a bit later (perhaps midnight on Fridays and Saturdays?) .

Great Steaks. Taste appetizers. Mac and Cheese was made with blue cheese. Not to my liking but some do. Service outstanding. Desserts were interesting. Matcha dessert requirers a unique pallet. Overall strong four stars. Kind of pricey.

Beautiful on the inside, we sat upstairs which was very nice. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and spent time to explain everything. We enjoyed our meal, items that stood out in our order were the bacon, meatball and filet mignon .... All were very tasteful! We will definitely come back!

Porterhouse for two

Dining here for the first time was an experience for sure. We had a double date night and this was the perfect place. From the minute you walk in the place is beautiful and inviting. The dim lighting is perfect for a romantic dinner, but also great for large groups. There are two floors, each has a bar which stays just as busy as the dining areas. The staff is friendly, the servers are great and do not miss a thing. I can't decide what we enjoyed more because it was all outstanding. We ordered: -thick cut bourbon bacon -calamari with Thai chili sauce -charred octopus -bone marrow -porterhouse steak for two -ribeye steak -cider glazed short rib -sautéed asparagus -sweet potato brûlée -cocktails -espresso and cappuccino They have valet parking, street parking or a lot located behind the restaurant that fills up quick. I'm already looking forward to my next visit here.

I've been wanting to try this place for dinner for a while, but this time we stopped in for drinks and an appetizer instead. The ambiance is really nice--it's pretty cool knowing the space was once a bank. The drinks were decent, and the appetizers were okay, though a bit underwhelming. The fries stood out as the best part. I'm still interested in coming back to try dinner and hope that experience shines more.

Note to self: do not come here in December. There were multiple holiday parties happening in the main dining area upstairs (not in private rooms), and it made the whole space extremely loud and obnoxious. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The dim lighting creates a really nice ambience and the space feels upscale and inviting. Food: We started with the waitress's recommendations the meatballs and the Wagyu sushi rolls and I added the thin-cut bourbon bacon. The bacon was delicious, easily the best bite of the night. The sushi, however, was a miss for me; it tasted overly fishy. The meatballs came as one large meatball, and while it was fine, it wasn't anything remarkable. Drinks: I tried a new drink on their menu (the only one with tequila , can't remember the name) and it was really good. I ended up having two. Entrées: We ordered the porterhouse cooked medium, with mashed potatoes and mushrooms on the side. I was pretty underwhelmed. The porterhouse, usually my favorite cut, had almost no flavor. The edges were burnt, and overall it was just not worth getting. The mashed potatoes were just okay, and the mushrooms were pretty "eh." Overall, for a restaurant of this caliber and price point, I expected much better. I'm disappointed , especially since this was my husband's birthday dinner and he also didn't enjoy anything except the bacon. I'd only recommend this restaurant for drinks.

Australian Wagu Tomahawk- medium rare

Great birthday dinner with family. The service was great and so was the food. We received great service from Dom H, who was patient to tell us the specials for the day. We did choose the appetizer he suggested with the warm table side focaccia bread spread. Had the Wagu tomahawk to share, perfectly cooked! Will definitely return to try the other menu items. Thanks for a great meal

We started with the Key to the Safe and Illegal Tender, calamari and 6 west oysters. We were also served complimentary bread with cinnamon sugar and sea salt butter. Both cocktails were delicious! The apps were also very good. The butters served with the bread were very tasty. For entrees I had the Kansas City Steak (rare) with truffle shiitake butter and my fiancé had the ribeye (medium rare) with chipotle butter. We also shared a Caesar salad, mac & cheese and loaded Yukon gold. The steaks and both butters were delicious! The sides were also pretty good. To finish the night we had another round of cocktails, The Old Watson and The Mint. Both drinks were excellent. Our server Joey was great. The rest of the staff was also really attentive. This place is definitely very pricey but with the spend in my opinion. The decor is very moody and sets a great ambiance. We had a great time!

Came to this venue to celebrate a birthday. Made reservations prior and walked in and was seated immediately. There's metered parking on the street so thats always a bonus. It was a Sunday and we were seated upstairs as downstairs was quite empty. This place is beautiful. Old bank turned into a restaurant, with beautiful murals, ceiling adorned with vines and flowers. There's a meat locker on the first floor, a seating area for great photo opp. Definitely a great choice for date night. Food - we had the old Watson and the bonnie for drinks. Both were very tasty. Had the Caesar salad and it was delicious. The brown butter that accompanied the bread was really good as well. For dinner, we went with the Tomahawk, creamed spinach and fries. I thought the fries would be shoestrings truffle fries but they weren't. The waiter was glad to replace it the mac and cheese with no issue. The steak was really good, but the fries and mac and cheese were okay. The creamed spinach was top notch. We were offered complimentary red wine with our dinner and it, too, was good. Service was SPECTACULAR!!!! Enrique took really good care of us and was phenomenal from start to finish. We finished off with a chocolate cake with chocolate cream inside!!! SOOOOOO SOOOOO good!! It was very decadent and worth all the calories!! Everything was top notch. Great experience!

The restaurant is beautiful!! They have free valet just tip. Service started slow. But he warmed up to us. The champagne was average. The meat was OK, I was really disappointed with a $300+ tomahawk it had so much fat and Grisel on it. Everything unfortunately, it was just kind of average. I was hoping for a wow experience, it was not that. Not to say that I wouldn't give them another chance. I might one day, but it would definitely be a while.

We don't come to this area much but we were glad we did. Strickland's is in an old bank. You can park in the back or there's public parking all around. You walk in the back door and you're greeted by the beautiful, dark decor. Walk past the meat lockers and head right to the bar. We were pleasantly surprised to find out they have happy hour on Sundays and a great one at that. The drinks were all freshly made. We were seated upstairs in the large open area. Our server and all of the waitstaff were great and happy to help. We never had an empty glass or unwanted plate. There's a ton of options and there were many steak specials the night we were in. The appetizers started the meal off strong. All of the seafood was fresh and flavorful. The meatball is one huge meatball, plenty for the table to share. Calamari was good but nothing amazing. Steaks were all cooked to our liking and the sides complemented it all well. Fries were super crispy with a touch of truffle oil. The creamed spinach was a bit too cheesy for my liking but others enjoyed. We never made it to dessert. They all looked and sounded delcious.

A great anniversary celebrated with Strickland! They were very attentive to the notes in our resy booking and specifically asked about the allergies and what we're celebrating. Our server, Ariana was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly. Read the specials like a pro and had some solid recommendations. We had the NY Strip, truffle fries, Mac and cheese, and Brussel sprouts. Also had the bacon as an app. All winners but the Brussels wete the top. The bourbon sauce that came with the bacon was top tier. Beautiful venue also

Can you walk in and get a table?

Walk-ins are accepted, however, reservations are recommended to avoid a possible extended wait time, especially on busier nights.

Is it better to sit in the dining area or the lounge? I want to bring my fiancee for his birthday. Which would be a better area and do they play any music?

The Australian Wagyu tomahawk steak is Halal. Due to the high demand and limited availability, we suggest calling to make sure we have them in stock before coming.

From what I've heard, it usually gets packed during peak sports seasons--but we happened to hit a lull (post-football, pre-baseball, and no major games on), so we basically had the place to ourselves. That actually worked in our favor--the quieter atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy conversation without the usual sports bar chaos. Drinks were a highlight. I went with the sangria, which was refreshing and well-balanced. Instead of ordering full entrees, we decided to share a bunch of appetizers. Everything that came out looked great, and everyone in the group seemed really happy with the flavors. As someone with a gluten allergy, though, I was pretty limited in what I could order. The ribs ended up being one of my only real options--but thankfully, they were tender, flavorful, and definitely the standout for me. Still, I do wish there were more gluten-free choices, especially since we were there to celebrate and share food. One thing that stood out (in a not-so-great way) was that we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We didn't even get the chance to order a birthday dessert, which was disappointing given the occasion, but seeing since it was only our group there I'm sure they were ready to close and go home. Service overall was attentive and friendly while we were dining, so no complaints there otherwise. It was winter when we visited, but I can see this being a great spot in warmer months--the outdoor seating looks like it would really add to the experience. Parking was easy on a Sunday night, and they do have a lot, but make sure to read the signs carefully since some spots are reserved for the theater next door. Overall it has a great vibe, solid drinks, and food that people clearly enjoy--I just wish there were more gluten-free options so I didn't leave still a little hungry.
