Firsties!!! On vacation back in the GRR i was shopping with my big sis and my moms and we needed to spend some shoe money. As my sister is a long distance runner and triathlete (showoff!) and mom is a bit of a jogger (yay moms!) we stopped into this location of striders. The three staff members were super helpful in finding them the right sizes of tops, shoes, and whatnots that mi familia needed to enjoy their running more. Great selection of running apparel, very small selection of TRI specific goods, but some is better than none especially in a running store. A great local store that I'm happy to support! read more

I would give them 0 stars. Be aware you can only get your actual money back if you return the shoes in 14 days and if they aren't worn. But I assume we all know you have to wear a shoe to know if it will work. They won't tell you about the return policy. They make a big deal that you can exchange it the shoe doesn't work. I tried 2 pairs of shoes and both hurt my feet horribly so I tried to return them as it seems they don't have anything that will work for me. I lost $148. They would not return them. I can not stress enough to steer clear of this company and the owner. read more

I used to get shoes from thrift stores and clearance racks but a friend at Snap Fitness talked me into getting my running shoes at Striders. I decided to go for it and - WOW - I should have came here long beforehand! The staff are very knowledgeable and were able to find the perfect shoes for me! My feet feel sooo much better and the shoes are lasting longer than others I've had. Plenty of clothes, shoes, accessories for runners, bikers, and triathlon people. They have some neat events too (like ladies' night and running groups). They have some pretty good sales at times too. read more

I came in at the beginning of the pandemic and was greeted by the owner. I was so sad because I have purchased my shoes here for the last 5 years. I have a legal medical exemption document that I carry with me at all times. I have very scarred lungs from chemo and I am at risk of passing out when wearing a mask. He stopped me and told me I had to have a mask on. I very kindly tried to explain to him that I had had chemo long term and about the state of my lungs and he wouldnt let me finish what I was trying to say to him. He was very angry and overbearing before I could even get my words out and then stated I could sit in the back corner if I had to get shoes and they would bring them to me. I kindly asked if I could please just look real quick at what they had since no one was in the store, to get some ideas so someone could bring them back to me in the corner. He very forcefully said "No you cannot! I don't want you spreading your germs all over my store. Sit in the corner here." I started to walk away as I had gotten a little teary from the amount of anger he was showing and he actually started to raise his voice at me and stated "What, You're really going to leave now?! I turned around and looked at him through tears and said "Yes, I am leaving. Thank you." To which he stated, "Seriously?!" Then I started to get frustrated and was shaking a little. I have survived a two year battle with cancer, a propane explosion that took our home off it's foundation with us inside and a drunk driver hitting us and ripping the end of our car off but none of those things made me shake like his forcefulness/anger that this man was giving me as he was following me toward the back door. He kept raising his voice to me and I didn't want to respond as he just got more elevated that I wasn't engaging and answering him. I called when I got home and asked if I could speak with a manager and he said "I am the manager." I expressed to him that the way he had treated me was very unkind and very unprofessional, and he started in again raising his voice and being rude so I just said thank you and hung up. Friends had told me that this man was a Christian and I saw anything but a Christian that day. He was a bit out of control and very rude. I sure wish there was another good place to purchase my shoes locally as I am an avid supporter of small businesses. read more

"You get what you pay for" never rang more true with a store. It's pricey, but everything is top of the line. The service is first rate and the running shoe selection is fantastic. I had them pull about ten pairs of shoes from the back until we found a pair that provided ample support with enough cushion. The staff seemed more than happy to assist and was dedicated to finding the right fit for me. I'd give 5 stars, but good gravy, it's expensive. Kudos to John and Patrick. read more

Unbelievable!!! Any time you can get knowledgable, professional, friendly advice, from a place that has everything you need it deserves a "shout out"!!! I came into Grand Rapids from California to run the Groundhog Marathon and needed tons of help getting the right equipment. Met Joe, the assistant manager and several other employees. All were incredibly helpful, did not upsell anything and allowed me to swap out equipment after trying it out. This is a mid winter race with snow and ice expected. Striders (1551 Wealthy St. SE) recently opened in the heart of the Grand Rapids running community. The popular Grandville store was able to add a second location in Eastown when Blockbuster realized that robots can rent DVDs as well as liberal arts majors.
