This was really well done. We had a blast and the puzzles were well executed. I'd highly recommend it.

My partner and I did their first room, Espionage, a few years ago when The Cipher Room opened. Since then, it has been the standard that we have measured every other escape room against. We have been out of the country for a few years but were very excited to come back and try another one of their rooms. We recently came back and completed The Marlowe Hotel and were almost a tiny bit worried as we had held Espionage in such high regard that we might judge it unfairly. Fortunately I can say that everything we loved about the first one was replicated for us here! The Marlowe Hotel is just as carefully executed and well-thought out, there is care and precision in terms of the theming and story-telling elements and we were just as impressed! As far as difficulty goes, their puzzles are challenging without being frustrating and even if you get stuck, the welcoming game masters (who watch you throughout the whole run) will jump in to offer help and suggestions so that you don't get stuck. I would recommend this place to anyone from complete beginners to experienced escapees. One of the best parts is that they typically offer better locks/puzzles than a lot of other escape rooms, which leave you with a sense of satisfaction and plenty of good "Aha!" moments. To conclude I would still comfortably say that The Cipher Room is the absolute best set of escape rooms in Sydney and we are very excited to get back and try their other room, The Cabin and whatever else they dream up in future! Thank you again to the friendly staff and the minds behind the different themes and puzzles!

I have always been a fan of puzzles and problem solving. Escape Hunt offers players a real life…read morerole play of solving a crime and being the hero. The facilities are excellent here. Once you get upstairs your instantly transported into a room of mystery and intrigue. The lounge area while you wait is filled with puzzles to keep you entertained. Biscuits and tea or coffee are freely available. It's located on George Street close to Martin Place Station, Town Hall and Wynyard so perfect to get to. The tone for each room is set out with a description of what your about to encounter on a manual. The excellent hostess also described a brief history of the 3 stories to each room which got us all pumped and ready for our challenge. Each room offers mental challenges and mathematical problem solving as you attempt to make your way along the crime solving journey. The game is challenging and your given 60 minutes to get out before it's too late. My group and I found it very tough and required a lot of brain storming. Definitely be prepared to be challenged. The hostess provides you with a walkie talkie for those moments your struggling with clues which is great when your going the wrong way. The reward for getting out is some fun picture moments with some props like a magnifying glass or pipes. Your chance to look like Sherlock Holmes. This place is perfect for a group of friends celebrating a birthday or work bounding experience. I highly recommend the place and the staff here and superb professionals and go out of their way to ensure everyone leaves with a smile. Best thing is they got 3 different rooms and frequently update them so you can return again. Thanks Escape Hunt for a good experience.

Who stole the money from the cottage?…read more That was what my team of three had to uncover. The place was dimly lit, the brick looking wall paper, the costumes and the other decor gave the feeling of being in a sherlock holmes novel. They even have the accompanying outfits, large magnifying glasses and smoking pipes. There were many of us detectives, we were divided into groups and had different puzzles to solve and were given an hour to solve the mystery! The team I was with was the first to solve the mystery (woohoo!!! - I even have a certificate to provide it!) There were a couple of rooms and in each there was a clue and using that we had to find the combination to a lock. Opening a lock usually means uncovering the next clue or getting access to the next room. Upon unlocking the final lock, you'll learn who the culprit it (in our case, who stole the money). While you're suppose to feel like Sherlock Holmes in this game, I have to say that I felt more like the mentalist. Mainly because the clues we were given were about the behaviour of the possible suspects and we had to decipher the cryptic text and find the correct items to get the combination for the next lock. And also because the place is located in the heart of the Sydney CBD right on George Street. I walk past there countless times and didn't realise that this cool establishment existed. There were plenty of nibbles where we first arrived and there were also little puzzles for us to solve while we waited for our game to start. And at the end, there were champagne and wine to enjoy while we share our last 60 minutes experience with the other teams. Our team solves the mystery in 47 minutes. How long did yours take?

The venue is awesome. Clean and friendly staff. There are many escape rooms to choose from. Outbreak was difficult for us as most of us are blind and we needed our glasses. Rooms do get dark so if you have poor eyesight you are in a limbo. We had a AI assistant and trust me we used her many times. Elizabeth was also available and was very generously guiding us through. Guess she could tell we were struggling. We ran out of time but Elizabeth gave us 5 more minutes as we were close to completion. Finally we escaped, it was challenging and fun at the same time. Definitely recommend this women/family owned business.

Staff were friendly and helpful, but would suggest booking and not just turning up on the day (tried that yesterday, only to find out they were booked out all day, so booked on the internet for today). We tried the Mexican Cartel room, however I won't give away any surprises apart from saying it was so much fun & definitely challenges your mind. One word of advice is to have an open mind & try to think outside the box. I have previously done one of the escape room challenges in Queensland, so wasn't too sure how the other half would react to this mind puzzle. Let's just say her reaction was basically: "When are we going to do this again?" Would recommend anyone to give it a go.
