The basics include 26 bowling lanes and 14 pool tables including both American and English tables, which I don't even understand. They have a full bar (crucial) and an American style dodgy diner where you can get a burger and some greasy chips, the perfect accompaniment to a game of ten pin. They also offer something called 'Cosmic Bowling' where all the lights go out and the whole room and all the lanes turn luminous blue with disco lights and spotlights flying around. Wooooooooo. It claims to be bowling with a nightclub atmosphere, which it really is not. But if you want to bowl with loud music and flashing lights then by all means give it a go! When a few of us decide to go, we usually end up at this massive Ten Pin in Didsbury's Parrs Wood complex, mainly because you can get a really good deal if you book ahead online. As you bowl on one of the alley's many lanes, you can have a shimmy to the weird 90s pop videos that play on the screens above. The staff are absolutely brilliant and take the time to help out our more disabled members. They also, often, allow us special discounts, even on busy nights. As an ex-league bowler (in the 1970's!), I am not really impressed by the standard of the balls not the lanes. I remember when AMF Wigan was cited as the best kept lanes, but they've taken some hammer since. They do still have an excellent bowlers' shop, with facilities for plugging and re-drilling - not to be found anywhere else in the North-west.

Not dog friendly at all, after waiting and spending a lot on drinks and lackluster expensive…read morearcade, we finally got to bowling which, for two games was over £40, then having one throw each, my dog barked a few times as dogs do the manager came over and said ill refund your game as you literally just started but you have to stop becausethe dog might distract players. As you can imagine my confusion being a place called "Dog Bowl" and advertising as a dog friendly bowling venue, we couldn't understand why we where asked to stop just because he barked a few times, we wasted a fortune on travel, drinks and the arcade and didn't even get to do what we came for. The manager, logan who to be fair was polite enough offered us some complimentary arcade tokens which, while a nice gesture was pointless as we already spent £17 on them and give them to someone else, it was my dogs birthday too and gutted. Further to this, I emailed in expressing the issue with no response, I finally managed to get through to someone on the phone who said a manager will email/call within the next two hours, ~24 hours later I've still heard nothing nor has my refund etc gone through. I will be escalating this further and have the company reported officially.

The booking process was simple from the beginning and they were clear about technical aspects such as payment terms etc. Although we explained it was a secret event and never to use the landline, they unfortunately did - they also didn't seem to take us off their sales list, meaning we got endless calls about having an event, despite already booking with them! Sigh. They redeemed themselves on the night. Based in the Jungle Room, a leopard carpeted treat, we had two lanes to ourselves and a plethora of food and drinks. We had everything from pigs in blankets to deep fried mac & cheese fritters; these aren't your usual canapes, and they're more than happy to lay on a tasting if you're curious as to what you should serve. Staff knew exactly what was in the cocktails, as requested, and bar service ran fairly smoothly - it did get rather busy once all the pre-bought drinks had gone and people flocked to the bar, but they soon got used to it and kept up! They were also very patient; once we've all had a few, it can get a bit rowdy i.e. people thinking it funny to walk on the actual bowling alley, but noone felt put out at any time and they communicated with as frequently. AMF bowling is a decent enough bowling alley to visit if you're looking to do something a little…read moredifferent for the evening, or if you have children in need of entertainment. In terms of the nights out Burnley has to offer, unless you're wanting to go out drinking, your options are perhaps limited to either the cinema or the bowling alley. AMF is a chain so prices are a little on the high side but there are occasional offers available that can save you some money so it's worth visiting the website before you make a trip. There's an area with video games and air hockey etc which is fun, but again doesn't come cheap and there's also a small café area that serves burgers and American style food and drinks. AMF is a comfortable enough place to spend an evening and it is fun but watch out for the little extras that add up over the course of an evening spent there. The staff are friendly enough and will help if you have any problems with your lane or setting up your games and it's a good alternative night out in Burnley.

How wrong could we be! You end queing endlessly for holes, which aren't particularly hard or exciting. Its less adventure course and more boring course than anything. We didn't come with a voucher, after finding one afterwards which annoyed me as I forked out £16 to play some boring golf and queue. Make the course harder/bigger/ more interesting and less queuing please! Unfortunately wouldn't come here again:(

This is actually really good fun…read more Recently opened in The Trafford Centre, Paradise Island is an indoor crazy golf centre! Featuring two different courses, this is a fun place to take the kids but also good fun for a staff night out as we found out when we wandered along to it for a fun evening! It's not dead expensive (£7 per adult, £5 per child) and you get a discount if you're in a group. The courses are set out really well, some of the holes are quite challenging and it can get quite embarrassing when you're on your 15th shot and there's a queue of six other groups behind you...was that just me?! Oh right...! The novelty theme is very well played out throughout the entire place and the decor is fantastic. It's the sort of place you can kinda of go to with anyone, dads would love it, kids love it, it's a good place to go for a date (no really it is!) and we had a right laugh when I went with work! It's funny to see how competitive men get whilst playing...hehehe!
