So I stop & get gas & try to get my receipt at the pump & the machine says "the clerk has the receipt" so I go inside & ask the male clerk for my receipt & he has the audacity to say "you need to wait in line" At that very moment I knew he smoked his brain cells to ashes. Ain't no way I'm waiting 20 minutes in line for a receipt for something I've already paid for. If you don't want customers to have to go inside to get their receipt, there is a easy solution, just refill the paper and stop being lazy.The methy male then proceeds to say "Well you're not getting your receipt" Before I could express how f'd up he had me a female cashier stepped in & told him "Just give him the receipt." I'm glad someone in the store had some sense. I'll never go to this location again on any of my road trips. Gas gas gas.... Driving and driving, Small town with about 20 gas stations in it. From the run down to the mediocre... basically picking the least of the worst. Nothing looked "up to date" Stripes is usually ok... good prices and clean. The pumps look beat up (but there were a lot of hem)... the parking lot was not clean... but the gas was priced ok. I remember when this Stripes first opened in the early 2010s. It was a beaut. As a frequent traveller between the RGV and Houston, I found this to be the finest gas station between the Riviera Stripes and the Wharton Buc-ees. Flash forward a handful of years... and this place is a mess. What happened?!?! This may very well be the worst gas station between the RGV and Houston. Sticky floors, awful tasting fountain drinks, and the restroom was appalling -- full of vandalism and a poo in the trash can. The Refugio Travel Center has this place beaten by a mile. read more

Legit Stripes in Refurio. I alway stop here when I drive through to use the bathroom, probably the cleanest bathroom in the city. They have Taco's in the morning which are amazing. The staff is always greeting you as you walk in the door, and this location is always busy with hustle and bustle. If your in Refuio and need bathroom and gas, this will do it. read more

Also the gorgeous lady with the neck tat who works for the Laredo taco company was super friendly and nice. I think she was the Laredo manager. Felt so bad! Stopped by not knowing what I wanted other than ice cream. No Ice cream wtf. So went for a frozen slush the handle broke and I had slush going everywhere. This Laredo taco is the slowest one I've ever been too! The lady came out with bags taking orders while the three workers stand behind the counter doing nothing! Then she hands one guy all the bags and he alone begins to make one taco at a time! No structure. No customer service. They don't acknowledge you. They should be retrained. Don't stop here. The nastiest store I have ever stopped at. The ladies bathroom was so disgusting. Fly's where all over the food, the fresh condiments, the stove area; would not be surprised if one was cooked with your order. OMG I cannot stress how nasty this store is. The reason I gave this a one star is because of one worker by the name of Denise. My family and I were heading home because we've been on the road all day, and it was already 11:30 pm, we were tired and the workers looked tired as well. So when we were heading to go pay, the worker looked rude first off and my stepmom grabbed a cup that she would get charged for and Denise nicely said, "go grab another cup so you won't get charged as much", so my stepmom did. And then she kept checking out our items, and my dad grabbed apparently a wrong type of container to put food into so she said, "that's the wrong container, you are supposed to grab those plates." And my dad was already tired because we've been on the road all day and just said, "charge me for it then!" and the lady just kept trying to argue back but we just let her be and just ended paying and left.
