I had to get my wisdom teeth out. The care was great. They warned me about everything. They warned…read moreme that sneezing or coughing, or blowing my nose, could rupture in between my sinuses, and where my top wisdom teeth came out from. They also warned me about the chance that they could accidentally dig into my nerve and caused me to loose feeling in my jaw. They also warned my about drinking soda, drinking out of straws or doing anything that could cause suction because it could cause my blood clots that would be in my sockets to pop out causing dry socket. They didn't do any of those things and i listened to all the instructions so none of those things happened, but it was nice to be warned and be aware about what could experience. The nurse and the doctor were all very nice. I got to listen to music on the radio while my wisdom teeth got out/got put under which helped me be calm. The only thing bad was the receptionist, but besides that everything was great. They also stitched up the holes in the back to prevent food from getting in and promote fast healing which I have bever heard of an office doing before, made me way less anxious about eating after! They told me about how it would help and that it can prevent dry socket! They also sent me home with all the tools, and instruction paper on how I need to be taken care of, and prescription antibiotics and prescription pain medication.

I was seen within one day of my phone call and the surgery was two days later. The day of surgery I was extremely nervous but Dr. Merkel took the time to reassure me that the tip removal would take only two minutes and be totally pain free. He was true to his word and it took longer for the novicane to take effect than it took for him to remove the root tip. I as in and out within obe half hour. When they finally got called back the assistant explained that it was going to cost $425 out of pocket for a mandatory CT scan that insurance would not cover. Again, this needed to be told to us up front as we have never been charged for this out of pocket by any other specialists given the cost of service we end up receiving. Given this My wife and daughter left an hour after we arrived without seeing the doctor. Absolutely terrible experience and customer service. Very unprofessional and lacking in transparency and communication. They were very adamant about my wife taking her herself, yet negligent in communicating fees or seeing us in a timely manner. Awful experience from a place that we had high expectations for.

Your typical dentist office would have magazines, well THIS office had computers and playstations for people to use while they wait. I had a free consultation, and Whitney, the treatment coordinator was super nice. I felt like I had known her forever, and she made sure to explain everything to me and answer any questions I had. At some point during this consultation, Dr. Oltjen came in to meet me. He thoroughly explained the process for Invisalign as well as Ceramic braces. He also gave (what I felt like) was an honest opinion about which treatment I should get based on my case. Also, this is one of the few offices who don't charge extra money for Invisalign (yess, that's a PLUS!) The only downside I had was the price. Yes, orthodontic work is expensive anyway, but this office was significantly more expensive than other offices. However, I really wouldn't mind paying extra ...their service was just that good!

They set me up with the 3M version of Invisalign. It's the same thing, so the product is exactly what you'd imagine. It's the staff and precision operations that I really love. Everyone is nice, efficient and highly competent. I have never been to a medical or dental office that runs so well. I've been to the office at least a half-dozen times and I can say with confidence that I haven't waited more than 10 minutes collectively. That means a lot--we all have responsibilities, and sitting at an office doing nothing is infuriating. That doesn't happen here! You can tell that Dr. Oltjen and his team watch every aspect of this office's operations so they can make improvements continuously. Though they are always on schedule and get you out of there promptly, you never feel rushed. I appreciate that they use technology to their advantage. You can get reminders via email or text. During the pandemic. They have sent a little survey a day or two before. They ask about your health, travel, etc. to ensure everyone stays safe. I'm very pleased with the results, too. It's crazy that little hunks of plastic can move your teeth. Wearing them really isn't a big hassle, and it has been well worth the time and the cost. In any event, I had my first appointment at Overland Park Modern Dentistry on approximately October 9, 2024, and had a great experience. Dr. Sheth and the whole staff were very professional, thorough, and gave me information about costs right up front. I was going to be needing a crown (Dr. Sheth showed me on the xray what was going on and I'm familiar enough with the process to understand) and chose to have the entire process completed two days later. It took less than two hours. I'll definitely be using Overland Park Modern Dentistry as my regular dentist and highly recommend them.
