The people are pretty friendly, it's a clean store, and the "system" for choosing your item is simple but effective. (You get a piece of butcher paper and a tray, then choose your sandwich and/or baked good. Then you check out with the cashier, who gives you a bag for transporting your purchase after wrapping it up in the butcher paper.) You can also sit in the bakery to eat, and there are some drinks for sale and whatnot. The sandwich I had, which was less than €3, was mozzarella and tomato, and while pretty standard, it was very fresh, pretty big, and tasty. In addition to the friendly staff and store cleanliness, this place gets bonus points (super bonus points!) from me because it's open on Sundays, until 4 p.m.! Very cool. *Especially for those of you who don't speak German so well, this bakery might be preferable to the likes of Der Mann, etc, since you choose and serve yourself the baked goods - you don't have to worry about miscommunications as the only interpersonal communication occurs when paying for your purchase (which is usually pretty painless, I imagine even for non-German speakers).

One of my friends was finishing up a coke so we all went and took a table, ordered some pastries and our coffees. Out of nowhere the barista comes over and starts yelling at my friend with the soda, "you have not soda in here, you buy here!? do you understand?!" Instantly we understood, of course we speak english. Yet she CONTINUES to verbally reprimand my friend, who is embarrassed at this point. Every table in the cafe has their heads turned because this barista is SO LOUD. Even though we told her we understand and tell her we will toss out the drink, she continues with her rant. It's as if she had this pent up aggression towards westerners and this was her opportunity to REALLY let off some steam. My friend was so embarrassed that he left the cafe. I went to pay for my coffee and talked with the barista (who's name i do not know) and told her it was completely inappropriate for her to talk to us like that. She obviously is not the brightest person in the world. No more Prindl for me OR my girlfriend, OR my other friends here in Vienna!
