Poor customer service. Phones will ring and ring. One of the owners, Sharon, consistently gets in…read morethe way and tends to worsen matters. Their lack of business acumen is apparent in their handling of sensitive information and timely processing.

I worked with them for 3 years now and will be switching to a different service…read more I was charged over $1000 for my 2019 return (only "out of the ordinary" situation I can think was income from 2 employers in two states - not sure that justifies a bill of that extend). I questioned why the bill was so high and was told I communicated too much with my CPA - what a weird response ... At the onset of my 2020 return I explicitly asked if my bill was going to be as high as the previous year (no complicated scenarios in 2020 btw) and was told that I should expect a bill between $500 - $750. You guessed it, my bill was over $1000 again. When I questioned it I was told I communicated too much with the CPA (e-mailed her twice - short one paragraph e-mails ...), yes, the same e-mail I received the year prior ... I should add at this point that Yoder did not go above and beyond to find deductions or even suggest savings opportunities I didn't directly provide to them. The Yoder contract states that you will be charged an hourly rate ($$$ amount not disclosed) times the number of hours needed to prepare the return. I refused to pay unless they told me how many hours it took to prepare the return and I was quoted (after asking four times - figured since they already charged me for "too much communication" I might aswell use up their time) 4.5 CPA hours plus 1.25 QA hours. That said I assume the hourly rate of plugging the numbers I provide into their spreadsheet is somewhere around $150-175. What Yoder did not know is that I plugged all the same numbers they had into Turbo Tax, which took me (not a CPA) less than 2 hours total. All this is to say that Yoder will overcharge you by quite a margin, don't use them, instead, run as fast as you can ... If you do use them make sure not to ask any questions unless you want to incur a "too much communications" charge. Btw - Turbo Tax now does your taxes for you. You send them the same exact info you sent to a CPA - the only difference is that they'll do it for a third of the price and they'll give you an audit insurance which Yoder won't ... Its your call but I'll be TurboTaxing it next year!!!
